"Ah! Well for that you'll want to talk to the manager. You can speak with him now if you like?" she offered with a smile, and she would lead the Pine Martin back into an office off the bar, where she'd find the manager, a Sorgaire Range Hawk, who would conduct a short interview.
He asked a couple of questions, including what her interest was and if she could work nights and weekends, and if she was any good at cooking. In the end, seeming satisfied, he told her that if she were to report at eight o'clock sharp the following night, she'd have a job waiting tables.
Best of all, she would get back out of this interview just in time to hear Colin's wonderful finale for the night: a rendition of Beethoven's Ninth. Not one of his own pieces, of course, but beautifully arranged. He stood up and bowed again to the clapping, then scanned the crowd for Aima, a bit dismayed that she was no longer at their table, which had been cleared and already taken by another couple...

Aima thanked the waitress for showing her to the office where the manager was, and went in for the short interview. She tried to answer the questions to the best of her ability, making them mostly honest and and giving him what he wanted to hear with an air of uniqueness. It must have worked because to her extreme joy he told her to come back the following night! She got it!
When she got out she looked over at the table she had been at previously, but saw it taken, so she stood off to the side where she didn't have the best view but she could still hear the music. She had no idea what song he was playing, but that did not matter because it was still wonderful! That suddenly made her feel happy. She got the job before he went in to talk to the manager, so really he just told her there was an opening. So.. she hadn't really used him, right? She could be his friend without feeling bad!
And friends let friends experiment on them! That idea popped in suddenly and almost surprised her. She'd quite forgotten about it and still hadn't had the slightest idea of what she would ask for. Well, if they were friends she had plenty of time, right? Well, at least until he decided that they weren't anymore.
She clapped along with everyone else as the song ended, and walked around the table and people over to where he stood. He must hear the good news! She also wanted to poke fun at him about one other thing...
"Colin!" she exclaimed happily, as he seemed not to notice how close she actually was. "What was the name of that song?" she blurted instead of all the things she'd planned to say. Well, she could always tell him after he told her!

The normally well-composed bird jumped several feet into the air, all his feathers fluffing out, as his name was suddenly called from directly beside him. Turning around, he smoothed his feathers over quickly, a smile finding its way onto his beak as he saw Aima standing there. "There you are!" he said with a slight laugh. So she hadn't left. This made him inexplicably warm and happy.
"That last one wasn't one of my own composition, it was written by a very famous Villa from nearly a century ago named Beethoven. And he, like many composers, didn't care to title his work beyond the order he wrote it, so it's simply called Beethoven's 9th Symphony," Colin answered easily, and then began to walk out of the bar, hoping that Aima would follow. His shift was over, after all, and he was pretty bushed after a long day and a satisfying night.
"Oh! I almost forgot...did you want me to run in back and put in a good word for you?" He paused to ask this, feeling glad to help her out after she'd been so complimentary of his work and such a good audience that evening.

Watching Colin's reaction to her suddenly popping up was probably way more hilarious to her than it should have been, and she had to try extremely hard not to burst out laughing, though she couldn't help the huge grin. Hopefully he'd just think it was from the news she had to tell him.
Beethoven.. that sounded somewhat familiar, like one of those things or people that everyone has at least heard of, and if you hadn't heard of them you ought to be shunned. Aima decided not to bring up that she was unsure if she had heard of him or not. She'd already made herself seem like she lived in a box by admitting that she'd never seen a play.
"Well I guess their concern was focused on writing the music, not naming them." Then he asked about putting in a good word for her. She could hardly contain her glee. "Actually.. the waitress came by and showed me where the office was, and after a short interview... I got the job! I start tomorrow night, and now I'll be getting to listen to you play every night!" Then her smile turned a bit sly as she added. "Which people don't tire of as easily as you might think, if the waitress is anything to go by."
I really need to ask her what her name is.

Colin didn't seem to notice the grin, he was still coming down from the 'high' he got whenever he played piano or heard music of any type. It really was the best sort of sensation he could imagine...well, other than flying. That was always its own sort of wonderful feeling. He gave her an odd look as she said that. It was the sort of thing only people who were ignorant on a subject would say, and yet it made a lot of sense. The wisdom of ignorance, as one great playwright had called it, and it ranked right up there with 'beginner's luck' in things that just seemed silly fallacies...until you saw them in action.
"You know...somehow I'd never thought of it like that," he said slowly, but as much as he would have enjoyed lingering on that subject a bit, the news Aima had next completely wiped it from his mind. "You...really? Oh, Aima, that's wonderful! Congratulations!" he cried, a wide grin splitting his beak. At the compliment, though, he couldn't control the flush of pride that rose immediately to his cheeks.
"Oh! Uh. Thank you, you're too kind," he said, for lack of anything else, hoping that it would be seen as taking the compliment graciously, for once. He tended to both let compliments get to his head, and be a bit flustered by them, depending how they were worded and who from. He started to walk again, out of the restaurant and into the street beyond. He shivered slightly as the cold night air hit him. He might need to break out his scarf again soon, if this cold weather continued...

Aima beamed as his congratulations. He was happy she would work there, also! Working outside her research might not be so bad. Well, she'd see for sure in the week to come. She was even a bit excited about it like she got in her research! ...Accept it wasn't near that powerful. Ah, well, she was a Corvie to the bone sometimes.
Then the compliment seemed to take effect. She thought he was getting better at it, even though she did see the change in his cheeks. That couldn't be helped, sometimes, unless you had lots of experience with compliments.. or you were just oblivious to them.
Either way it seemed like the night was at an end. She followed Colin out of the restaurant and out into the cold street. Oh, how refreshing it was! At least for now. She was sure that half way back to her current residence that it would be chilling rather than refreshing. "Well, I suppose this is good-bye for now," she offered. He probably wanted to get home as fast as he could, no doubt being tired and now cold. "Thank you for the wonderful food and music," she smiled, "and have a safe walk home!"
Aima would then wait for his reply, and if nothing kept them further, would dash home to sleep.

Colin turned to beam at her. All in all, he was entirely glad they'd bumped into each other, as it seemed they'd both benefited in the end. "I suppose so. You're quite welcome, of course, Aima." He gave her a graceful bow...about the one thing a clumsy bird like him could pull off gracefully, and only because of all the practice he'd had over the years. He was still smiling as he straightened from it, and he waved with a wing as they went their separate ways.
"You too! I'll be seeing you around, I'm sure." After all, they worked at the same establishment. Already, he was going over what she might want to hear tomorrow, so he could make her first night on the job enjoyable. Perhaps another of Beethoven's pieces? Either that or another one of his own. Hmm...he'd have to look it over when he got back to his apartment. Sleep was actually pretty far from his mind as he took to the air, preferring this faster method of getting out of the cold.
((ooc: aaaand done. ^^))
