Mia stared at his desk, one eyebrow raising slowly. That paperwork hadn't been there five minutes ago, he knew it hadn't. His desk had been EMPTY, damnitall, when he'd left to go dig up some coffee--CELEBRATION coffee, because he'd finished the last mound that had been dumped on him. There was now more, and someone was going to pay for it, assuming he ever found out who was dumping it on him. It wasn't his mother; she generally didn't do paperwork, and was of the "if you want it done right, do it yourself" mentality, so didn't dupe it on others when she did get it. It wasn't Wulfram--the Tulgey was probably too proud to hand off his work to someone else, though Mia had to admit if he were to do so, he would do it subtley like this. It wasn't Lleur--she was nice, and would at least ask if she needed help. The ferret sorely doubted Lysaras would dump it on him in such a manner either; she, too, would ask. That left Varestes, and all Mia could do was glare at the offending pile in hopes that it would burst into flames, and the ashes would blow back in the man's face. It was Varestes, he knew it was, though he'd never get him to admit it. There wasn't anyone else left that accumulated so much paperwork, and simply didn't do it themselves. The worst part of it all was that there was nothing Mia could do about it whatsoever. Unless.. unless Aph came around. Aph was court-aspiring, and could use a little practice in paperwork.. right? Heheh. The ferret slid over to the doorway and glanced around. His brother was in the Courts today, that he knew--visiting Vessatha, or something like that. He should be around..

[ooc: This is theoretical-adult Aph, piercings and all. I just don't have the points for them yet, but I'll get them as soon as I do.] It wasn't like Aphasia was all that difficult to miss, considering the amount of jewelry he was wearing. In fact, it was a hell of an effort for him to be at all stealthy, or to try and go unnoticed, what with the constant jingling. It didn't help that occasionally Quinn lent him a few bells, and he would happily attach them to various piercings, just to make things a bit more spritely. For some reason, bells were always a lot more annoying to the people who weren't wearing them. Conveniently enough for Mia's sake, there was the very distinctive noise of Aph coming down the hallway, a bright purple ribbon threaded through the corset piercing, the others shining; he took damn good care of his piercings, and blessed otter flexibility that he could bend and twist to attend to various pieces. He glanced up and blinked at the familiar red ferret, increasing his pace. "Hey, Mia. What are you up to? Mama Vessie just chased me out of her office..."

Aphasia was, indeed, not difficult to miss at all. Dysthymia heard him a few minutes before he saw him, which he considered a feat indeed; how many other people could claim they had their own personal procession? Other than their mother, of course, who he could only assume Aph had gotten the idea from in the first place. The two of them were odd, always jingling like that.. Himself, he prefered the silence of his wires and padded paws.
His face lit up into a rather sadistic grin at his opening comment. "Afternoon, Aph. Did she? That's what you get for being obnoxious, you know she likes silence. But now that you mention it, I could use your help.." He said, turning around mid-sentence in order to glide back into his office, simply expecting his brother to follow him in. He sat down in front of the desk, balefully glaring at the pile of paperwork. "Want to do some papers?" The 'request', as it was, was phrased more like a statement, such as 'You will do paperwork or I will eat one of your rings,' despite his polite tone.
Ahh, brotherly affection.

His ears flicked backward guiltily. "I wasn't that loud. I held still and read a book. She was just irrational and decided that another living, breathing presence in her office was more than she could take." He looked thoughtful then. "Which means that either Mama Quinn has been around a lot lately, or she's been gone for a long time." It wasn't like they knew more than an eight of the time (if that) where Mama Quinn was.
Habitually he followed behind Mia, raising an eyebrow at the pile of papers. Apparently whoever had given them had taken advantage of the fact that ferrets practically had hands as it was, no matter that Mia only had his Animal form. Otherwise, paperwork would probably have been a loss.
Otters had hand-like paws, and Aph sighed at the "request" and settled down in an adjacent chair.
"Hand some over. I swear, I don't know how you and Mama Vessie have so much of this stuff. it's like it breeds."

Mia just snorted. Nothing Aph did was quiet--he jingled just by breathing, really. "Aph, you know how she gets. She just.. I dunno, is Vessa." He said lamely, then shrugged. It was difficult to describe their mother in one of her moods. "I think it's the latter. She was muttering something about sexual frustration the other day, but I walked away before I heard details, thank the Queens.." He muttered, shuddering a bit at the memory. Sometimes Vessatha disclosed a bit too much without meaning to.
"Sweet," The ferret replied offhandedly, then shoved half the pile onto Aph's lap. "We can have a paperwork party, as much fun as that sounds.." He snorted, then climbed into his own chair and wrinkled his nose at the halved pile. Even with some gone, it was still more than he wanted to do. "Breeding is certainly the right term for it.. but I swear, someone is sneaking in here and leaving it for me. My bet's on Varestes, damn him."

He shuddered, and set off another round of jingling and clanging. "Don't wanna know, don't wanna know, don't wanna know," he chanted. "I'll just hope that Mama Quinn comes home soon, then. At least for the first few days, things'll be peaceful." And then after a while Mama Vessie'd chase her off again when she got tired of having a much more jingly otter around (and he wasn't that loud, honest). Who had a floating scarf. That thing was still cool.
"Joy, a paperwork party. Want me to yell at someone to get the confetti and streamers? Unfortunately, though the hard alcohol would probably be fun, it would also make actually doing the paperwork a lot more difficult. Then we'd have to re-do it all, plus more," he said softly, a touch of resignation in his voice. Flipping through his pile, he glanced up at his brother. "Anything in here that I shouln't see?"

Dysthymia grinned slowly. Obviously, his pain at the idea of their parents.. fornicating.. was much less than his brother's, which meant exploitation was in order! "Yeah, I mean, she was talking about how Quinn had been gone for weeks and she was needing to use a substitute.." He trailed off meaningfully, hiding the fact that he was lying through his teeth. Vessatha had said no such thing, but Aph didn't need to know that, right? "Things are never peaceful when either of our mothers are around," He stated scornfully.
"I wouldn't, Mia said with a reluctant sigh. "I'll get in trouble for being drunk and letting you do paperwork, and yeah, we'd just have to re-do it all anyways and that would suck more than having to do it now." He stabbed at the first paper with his pen, and was somewhat gratified when it left a large inkblot on the title of it. Take that, paperwork! "Uh.." Mia blinked, then grinned and shrugged. "If this is Varestes' papers, then there is probably shit in here I shouldn't see. Since he dumped them here, though, I could care less. Just don't blab, okay?"

"I told you, I don't wanna know!" he yelped, turning to glare at Mia. Screw the rank gap, he was going to do something nasty to his brother, when he was least expecting it. Who cared if Mia would know exactly who did it? That part was pretty much expected; unless one of the other two did something first and Aph got blamed for it. He'd warn them off of Mia until he was done, just in case.
"But at least the first day or two, Quinn usually keeps the both of them in their rooms," he retorted, raising an eyebrow. Okay, so it wasn't always all that quiet or anything, but as long as you stayed away from the suite, things tended to be a bit less troublesome.
He shrugged at that thought. "Point. And consider my lips sealed, unless it's anything particularly juicy about you. I can always use more ammunition against you; I don't need it, but it's fun to have." He smirked.

Dysthymia just snickered knowingly, and smiled innocently over at his brother. "There's no such thing as too much information!" He provided cheerfully, swinging his pen around in his hand.
"I spose," He replied doubtfully, "But you can hear them, it's so gross sometimes. When Quinn comes home, I just.. leave. I plead for someone to send me on a business trip so I can get the hell out of here, or I go take a visit to Sae or something." He shuddered again, then put the mental image out of his mind. "Okay, you win, I don't want to think about it anymore either.."
"About me?" He rose an eyebrow. "Why on earth would there be paperwork about me that I'd be doing myself? A bit contradictory, don't you think?" The ferret asked sarcastically. "And you don't have anything on me, not after that peanut butter incident. You will never live that down, and I have pictures to prove it."

"Yes, there is!" he yelped, ducking as the pen got a bit too close to him. "Especially when it comes to parents!" Aphasia watched Mia carefully as the ferret talked his way out of the whole topic, relieved when his brother conceeded. There were times that he was really, really glad that he wasn't actually required to live at the Court (yet). He would eventually, if he ever attained the rank of Jack, but that was still a ways away. He had to hit Ten first, if nothing else.
"You promise you're done? No more random mentions of our parents' sex lives that I really don't want to hear?"
"You were the one that said Varestes probably gave you the paperwork. Who knows what that crazy bone-guy might slip in here? He creeps me the hell out," he muttered, and then froze at the mention of...that incident. "Hey, you don't have to bring that up. I know you've got that, I know I won't be able to get anything on that, can we just acknowledge that you have that over me and level the playing field from now on, so that I can at least pretend to feel worthwhile?"
