[OOC: No real posting order for this one <3 I want as many people to be able to enter this as they want to XD. I want Adam to meet EVERYONE...so yeah...if you've ever had interest in meeting him, this would be the time XD...If you'd prefer a more one on one rp...feel free to PM or AIM me...and we can talk it out <3] Years of school in Esterberry had readied him for this day. Today was the day that he was going to attempt to make a name for himself here, something he had always wanted to do since leaving the marshlands. As he entered into the palace, he felt a twinge in his heart. He had heard and read of the magnificent arcitecture of the hearts palace, but he could have never imagined just how magnificent it really was. He stared up at the sealing and the walls for quite some time, his claws upon his pawed feet clacking against the marble floors. To think such a wonderful place might be his home! He hoped anyway. He knew he was at a disadvantage, anyone with even a little bit of eyesight left could see that. He wasn't exactly the most handsome character, though he groomed himself and tried his best to look as regal as he possibly could. He doubted his Golfam blood would really help his case any...and the black tree on his back certainly would be seen as a bad omen. Luckily he had a cape to cover that little bit. He balled an edge of his dark cape in his hand, a bit of a security blanket of sorts, and strolled further into the palace, hoping to come across someone soon, so as not to be thought of as an intruder.

The tiny girl poked her head around a corner and spotted a fellow she'd never seen before. She was maybe 4 years old at most, and was intensely curious. This man... he gave her a weird feeling. She felt a little scared... but he was just standing there, how could just looking at his back do that? Well, if she was going to rule the world one day, she was going to have to face that worse, and lo! Fate was kind enough to present her with such a trial! She sneaked up behind him as he marveled at the building then tugged at his cape. She was ready to move, however, and which ever way he would turn to look back, she would move the opposite way, staying out of his sight. ----------- Heilyn had fallen asleep at her desk, and Hadrian knew the panic attack she would have finding her newest Club child wandering around the Hearts Court on her own. His 20th birthday was coming up very, very soon and he was planning on leaving the court soon after. In the mean time, he might as well leave things as un-stressful as possible for Mom. He left the room, tracking the girl by her scent.

Adam had stopped for a moment to appreciate a sealing painting above him, when he felt a small tug at his cape. He blinked once or twice, and with a strangely graceful step for someone so large and massive as he, he turned around to face whoever it was that had done that. He had half expected a bander, but instead found a small girl staring back up at him. He blinked again. "Hello.." he said suprised, his voice deep and rumbling somewhere in his throat or belly. It seemed to echo slightly, but luckily for the little girl he wasn't using his frightening ability. His voice was just deep.
It was then that he noticed the club marking on the child's chest. Maybe it was a servent's child? What was it doing wandering around the palace by itself? He lifted his beastly head to look around a bit, wondering if someone might be following her to him, looking around for her. He looked back down. Surely this was the hearts palace. He was most certainly in the highlands. Slightly bewildered, he felt the need to speak to sooth himself, and maybe the child. He after all, was probably frightening to it. "My name is Adam...what is yours, young one?"

The game of racing around his back lost interest quickly and she sat still for him to spot her. Her abbreviated bat tail flicking side to side quickly. It wasn't that she was overly excited at the moment, it was just that the shortness of the tail lacked the weight to slow it down, like a Boxer or another breed of Dog with a snipped tail. He was big, but she was pretty used to it, having spent plenty of time harassing Gaston and Seth. "Halo," she responded in her small child voice, over sized Bat ears erect and pointed at the man, "I'm Tegan." She stood up from her seated position and circled the man, smelling him and being somewhat invasive. When she got back around to his front she jumped up, putting her front paws on him. "Wanna play?" asked the tiny King. For as brave and powerful as she saw herself, she was still a child. ---- No... DAMMIT! Realization hit her as she woke up, wiping her face from the puddle of drool she'd been basting in during her nap. She raced out of her room and quickly found Hadrian. He looked at her panting form. "Relax, Mom, I've got her trail. She's not too far.""Oh, thank the Suits," [/color]she muttered as they jogged to find the girl. Being a non-Club caring for Clubs really sucked. Heilyn would've gladly killed to have their ability to stay up for nights on end.

Large, beastly Adam continued to stare down at the youngling for a time, astonished by it's fearlessness around him. He supposed he had grown to used to other's fear of him. It was...almost nice, for this not to be the case with everyone he met...at least now anyway. He cracked a toothy smile, sharp teeth gleaming in his wildabeest mouth, a sight that usually unnerved many. "Tegan. A beautiful name for a lovely young girl. A pleasure to make your aquantence, but if it is not impertinant for me to ask...why do you not flinch in my presence? Many an older soul have approached me in fear...which is, very unfortunate, wouldn't you say?" he couldn't help but ask. He was rather curious. What other more fearful things had she incountered in this place that made her so steel hearted against him? Maybe he was reading to much into it.
When he saw more distinctly the mark on her chest he smiled, "Ah...that is why..." he said bending a knee to get closer to the ground and to her, pointing to the marking on her chest with a blue claw, "You are a King...like me..." he said pulling back his cape to reveal his own insignia. It then occured to him that maybe the hearts court was having a meeting with the Clubs court. Strange...he hadn't known the hearts to like the clubs that much...things changed he supposed...there was only so much you could learn from books.
Well, if he was going to wait for an audience...he supposed getting to know this child a little more couldn't possibly hurt. "Well, Tegan the Fearless, what game do you have in mind?"

She cocked her head as he spoke. Bleh. Adults. Why did they always use so many words when they spoke? And why did everybody have to hark over the fact that she was pretty? Didn't they see her power? Pfft. She just shrugged at his question and remained quiet as he answered his own question. Honestly, most of it went over her young head anyway. However, she stared at the red mark on his chest. They were both Kings. The fact that he was a Heart didn't bother her. If anything, she was the one that was rare here in the Courts. Obviously they were just jealous because she was more rare and powerful than they were! Adam was just another run-of-the-mill Heart. Well, he was also an adult and probably knew more magic than her, so she had to be polite like Mommy taught her.
"Cool!" she said approvingly of his rank. Her eyes lit up the second she was given her newest nickname. Tegan the Fearless. She loved it. Her tail becoming nothing but a blur of blue was a show of that. What kind of game could they play? He was way to big to play the crawl-and-explore games she played with herself and other small children. She was his new friend who called her cool things and she had to think of a game they could both play... Still quite naive and not seeming to be intimidated by his size, she piped up, "Let's wrestle!" She let out a playful growl as her front paws went out in front of her to lower her front half to create a playful canine stance.

Adam might have found amusement in her thoughts. It was not so long ago, after all, that he had thought the same thing. But in the courts you always must act a certain way, at the very least, until you make life long friends that didn't care how you acted. He knew this was a long way off. Besides, there was nothing bad about having good ettiquite no matter where you were. Not to mention, he was sure the child appreciated being talked to as an adult...no sense in degrading children and making them feel inferior.
Her continued approval made him smile all the more. He could tell she was excited by the nickname given to her, and he chuckled a bit, his laugh enough to shake the very ground they stood on, deep and earth shattering. He grew wary however, when she suggested her game. "Oh...I don't know if such a thing would be wise. I am much larger then you...I could accidentily crush you! And what would you're mother say to that? Surely she would not be pleased."
Oh but how many times had he been shot down when he had asked his brother to play. He closed his eyes a moment riding the hate that moved through his body, and he might have been frightening in that moment. Could he really say no to this small child...Oh...he supposed he really couldn't. He would feel guilty the rest of the day. His eyes opened and a mock predetory look came upon him, his eyes still twinkling with laughter, however. "Oh alright. But you can't tell anybody..." he chuckled again, getting into a similar playbow position, beckoning her to pounce.

"But I wrestle with my daddy all the time and he's just as big as you and I'm not squished yet!" she protested. She made a pouting face that was not bratty, just a little frustrated. She wasn't squished, that was a fact!
Then, as Adam's emotions changed, she felt it. It was quick, but there. Her ears went flat and she backed up a few steps, coming out of her stance a little. She lit up immediately after he pushed it down and agreed to play, any and all discontent flying right out the window. "OKAY!" she yipped, and rushed at him. Her tail was wagging a mile a minute, but it was really too small to cause her to lose too much balance.
She ran at him, but as she came low instead of pouncing and exposing her belly.
Coming on the scene, Heilyn was not pleased at what she saw. She was extremely protective of her children and it made hackles raise to see strangers touching her children. Hell, a good half of the people she knew or more weren't allowed to touch them. She approached them, not speaking a word.
Hadrian, on the other hand, was frozen to his spot. He did not want to go anywhere near that man.

Adam let out a deep chuckle, warm and friendly, at the child's antics, happy to play along with her. It was strange, how this had been all he had ever wanted at her age, and he got...something far different instead. His tail wagged with the intencity of her own, to show that anything aggressive he might do was all part of the game. He allowed his lips to pull back, and show his increadibly sharp and fearsome teeth, a strange sight in the mouth of a head that was so obviously that of a herbivore. He let out an agressive cackling sound, one that hyenas made often when they were fighting. He was a hyena after all, and he did so enjoy the unnerving effect it had on people. In this case however, it was just to please the child, and make her laugh with how silly it sounded.
He was careful not to squish her as he held a hand over her when she submitted. He laughed a fake triumphant laugh, swinging his head back comically and tossing it back to look at her, "Ah! I have finally cought you! Tegan the Fearless, what will you do now?" he said with another laugh.
But with all the tussling, it was only then that he heard the sound of tiny feet against the marble of the floor. He looked up from his playing position with the child, and just knew. There was nothing like the scorn of a mother. He shot up in a matter of seconds, back on his back feet, his height considerably and almost unbelievably taller then the woman in front of him. It was almost strange to see the scene, such a dominating figure being held so uncomfortibly in the gaze of the woman. "I...I'm terribly sorry...the child asked to play...and...I figured...maybe she needed someone to look after her...while her parents were in a meeting...I assumed that was why...no one was around to speak to..." his words which were so usually carefully chosen were choppy, and not quite sounding like him. Oh suits...what did he get himself into? This certainly wouldn't help things...

Tegan was both delighted and surprised by the noise. She'd heard strange sounds before. Coyotes made them, and she and Hadrian had spent evenings baying at the moon, him with his odd Coyote yips and howls and her with that combined with Bat noises, but she'd never heard anything like this. She yipped excitedly at him as she rushed in.
She found herself quickly overpowered, held down by one hand effortlessly as she struggled. Finally, she gave up, accepting him as the winner. She really hated not winning at anything, but she could see this was a lost fight. She was about to answer his question when her oversized Bat ears caught the sound she knew all too well.
Mother the Killjoy was coming on the scene.
She made a rather bratty little face as Heilyn stared down the man.
"Did you now?" she asked in a quiet, dangerous tone, sizing him up. She looked at the red marking on his chest. A King. He was most likely looking for employment in the courts.
"Mom!" called a voice from below her knees. Heilyn looked down to see a rather unhappy looking Tegan right under her, "Why do you always have to do this?! Let me play with him!" Anger flashed in the woman's eyes are her very young daughter gave her a command. Ignoring the child, the looked back up to Adam.
"Who are you and why are you here?"
