The excitement of the young child was heart warming, but at the moment, he had forgotten all about it. It seemed just his luck to make a horrible first impression on obviously one of the members of the courts. He was happy to please the child, but if this screwed up his chances he'd never forgive himself for being so stupid. He needed this...
"Yes. Forgive me for assuming...I honestly meant no harm by it..." he bowed a bit to the woman, a hand over his chest, while the other clutched his cape like a liferaft. The last thing he needed right now was the woman seeing the big black marking of the tree on his back. It wasn't often you saw one of those, and really...it just added to a certain look about him that he didn't want. It was funny how he appologized so much for assuming...when it should be other people apologizing to him for the same exact thing. But if there was anything that Adam had learned...it was that the world was an unfair place.
He looked down at the child then, blushing slightly with the uncomfortible situation. She didn't have to defend him, though he appreciated the gesture on some level. It only seemed to agrivate the angry mother further however, and he couldn't help but feel like he should talk to the child later about respecting elders. Oh well...it wasn't his place. Indeed, the best thing he could possibly do was stay very quiet.
Adam looked up at the next question, still in a partial bow, he lifted himself up, once again towering above her. "My name is Adam....Adam Greenleaf. I've come from Esterberry to hopefully find my place here in the courts. It is my deepest wish to serve under Queen Rai...or at the very least, make myself useful here." His brows furrowed with worry for a moment, but he put on a small friendly smile keeping his teeth behind his lips. "If...it is not to bold of me, under the circumstances, may I ask for your name, Your Highness?" this question was asked quietly, and with uncertainty...he wasn't sure what to do now that he was in this little bit of a pickle.
