It was a very formal day. They were on neutral ground, since neither party was willing to parade around in the others court for fear of appearances. Today they had the intention of making peace between the Court of Clubs and the Court of Diamonds. Theofilus had been contemplating for quite sometime, and he imagined Aderlass had done the same. They were on neutral terms, so why not make things a bit more official? No harm would come from making a treaty between the two Courts. At the very least, this would promote a bit more tolerance between the suits. They were both to meet with a King each. Theofilus had decided Kelasia was the best bet. She wasn't an intimidating Yarrow, for one thing, and for another he wouldn't have to worry about anyone having a heart attack. Almost everything was in place. They had just arrived, and it was almost time to get down to business.

It really was about time this got around to happening. After he has signed the small agreement with the Heart Court it had only seemed logical to go through the rest of the Courts and gather up some sort of peaceful arrangement. It was something that would better the lives of his Suit, or that was the way it was suppose to go right? Things had gotten in the way though and it had unfortunately gotten pushed towards the bottom of the pile. Now was the time to face it, however, since he was not sure how much longer the chance would stand open - Queen Theofilus was getting old after all. While he would never thought to have his daughter become friends or even intimate with one of the Diamond's Queen's sons he was willing to use the product of mutual grandchildren to his, and everyone's, benefit. Oddly enough the biggest argument over the matter was where to meet. Considering both of their stances on the issue they had come to the agreement to meet on neutral ground. So it was in the conference room that they had arranged for the meeting that he awaited for the fellow Queen.

Thyme felt more comfortable about accompanying her Queen to this meeting after having been briefed on the situation. Apparently it was something resoundingly good for a change, as opposed to putting out a political fire or handling an irate individual. She didn't know the Queen of Diamonds personally, but she had heard enough about the man to know that he probably wouldn't care at her odd appearance. Merely another oddity for a man whose family was apparently sprouting more of them, and with Aderlass's daughter no less! Such gossip. It was fun sometimes. She walked next to and half a step behind the human mouse, trying to match her strides to his short legs. A vermin and a human, while she was a bipedal canine? It felt like she was mincing and probably looked a little silly. She'd gotten practice in the halls of the Court, though, if they ever had to walk and talk. Her bright blue fronds picked up so many scents in the Capital, some of them pleasant but most of them not. At least in a meeting place like this, there wasn't the smell of the streets clinging to everything. She wouldn't be surprised to sit in a chair and smell 'things' that had been done in it, before. Fabric cushions could be the bane of her peace of mind sometimes...

Welcome to Awkward City. Kel was pleased that they were officially making steps to ally the Court of Diamonds and the Court of Clubs, especially since she'd been fed information about Lowlander activities for some time from the latter Court. It was, of course, information she had passed right on to Theofilus, but there were some parts of her interaction with the Court of Clubs that she hadn't shared with Theofilus. She tried to keep from blushing as she spotted the Queen of Clubs. At least it was a meeting of Queens and Kings and not a mass of Queens. That would have been horrible. With that first thought in mind, though, the King of Diamonds tried to keep from inspecting the King of Clubs too closely. At least the other woman didn't have human form. Kel felt her first tinge of relief.

Theofilus enter the room without hesitation. He wasn't late, and he wasn't particularly early. Either way he was hoping that the other party wasn't waiting, and if they were they wouldn't have been waiting too long.
Of course they were waiting. What had he honestly expected.
"It's nice to see you again, Your Majesty Aderlass." Theofilus said with a cordial smile. He removed his hat briefly, making a slight bow of his head to acknowledge the mouse and and his King. "I'm happy we could finally come to an agreement on where to meet."
Now they just had to come to the important decisions. He motioned to Kelasia to introduce herself. Formal greetings were required when doing official business, even if they were a bit silly when you knew who you were talking to. Family relations and all.
Once everything was said and done, Theofilus took a seat. More than willing to get things ironed out and official. "Where shall we begin?"

When the door opened he turned so that he was facing those who entered. While he would have returned the hat gesture if it was not such a pain to put the hat on in the first place, he did give a small bow at the waist.
"A pleasure indeed, Your Majesty Theofilus. I hope everything goes well for you and yours?"
He another smaller bow towards Queen Theofilus' King. "A pleasure, my dear." It amused the man that he knew the female and had some what close ties to her through his own Queen.
Glancing over his shoulder he allowed thyme the chance to introduce herself. When everyone was aware of everyone else and all the polite greetings passed around, he motioned towards the table and chairs in the room.
"We should probably begin with what is obvious. In order to benefit both of our Courts and our Suits to their fullest, an agreement has been met to form a small peace treaty to be formed between our Courts, yes?"

The two Queens were human men, and their Kings were bipedal women. Funny how life worked sometimes. When Thyme's red eyes met Kelasia's blue, she threw the other woman a small nod and polite smile. Anything else might be a cue or suggestion that she didn't want to give, especially since this was really all about their Queens and anything they might be able to set up. They were just there for witness, support, and tradition, as well as a convenient extra set of eyes and ears.
Queen Theofilus himself was an impressive figure, for all that he looked older. He looked lanky, but the cut of his clothes was dapper enough to mask it. Not as tall as her father, nowhere near, but she couldn't expect it out of a bird. She inclined her torso in a respectful bow to them both. When Aderlass glanced her way, she took the hint. "Your Majesty, Your Highness, I am one of His Majesty's Kings, Thyme. It is an honor."
She took her seat after the formalities and pleasantries were concluded, wincing slightly and trying to hide it when she 'smelled' things on the chair. Mostly it was sweat and body odor, probably off of the last inhabitant with fur.

It was nice. Everyone was being polite, and everything was going smoothly. The best part was, there was, even with all the formalities there wasn't tension. Once the pleasantries were exchanged and the seats were taken it was time to hammer out the details.
Oh how exciting politics could be.
"Yes, of course. It would be beneficial to have peace between our suits," Theofilus paused for a moment. "Though I'm sure both suits want benefits besides pretty words on a piece of paper, such as monetary or military support if something happens to upset the balance. Are we willing to discuss such terms on this fine day?"
Might as well get to business as fast as possible. What was the point of a treaty if you didn't get anything out of it? It was to maintain peace, of course, and hopefully the allying of courts would prevent any hostile takeovers or stepping on toes. Supporting each other would keep the balance better than avoiding each other--of course it was all a theory.

Taking his seat he hung his cane on the side of the table. Shifting once he made himself more comfortable.
"Of course, of course. It we are going to have any sort alliance or peace between our suits besides just us as Queens it may as well be with a benefit to our members over all." It was the only way that it would really work out too, after all.
"Wot is it that you are interested in gaining from the Club Court? We have some valuable trade goods, and of course we would come to your aid as best we could should," he gave a sharp, quick rap on table, "knock on wood, you have need of it."
They were going to have to start somewhere, and working on first one side of the treaty arrangement before finding the fair exchange for the other seemed a good place to start.

At least this was going to be "easy" on some level. Of course, they would both have to hope that in the future what they established would be followed. Worrying wouldn't make it better, but the sparrow would do it anyway.
Theofilus couldn't help but smile at the other man's comment. "Knock on wood indeed, but you can never be too careful. Military aide was merely a idle suggestion. I suppose it would be a last resort if we couldn't find any other method of compensation between our courts. However, I'm sure that's not the case."
"I'm ashamed to say I'm not particularly familiar with the commodities that the court of Clubs is invested in." Trading and shipping were two things that Theofilus enjoyed dealing with, and it was a good place to start since it would benefit both the courts immediately after the treaty was established.
