OMG. I wrote FLUFF.
Anyway, something cute and fuzzy. <3 I was inspired by a boy band song. After this I'll post a sexy Pale Meme that I did a while ago. Just poke me again eh.
Thanks for all the comments. <3 *huggles* I appreciate them like wow.
"M'lady! What happened?"
The exclaimation of the yarrow canine was enough for Xiven to take a step back. She hadn't thought the woman was going to visit today of all days. And what was she supposed to say to her? That her King had lost control and put her in this condition?
Xiven frown, "Ah, Cal I didn't think you were coming today. Did I get the date wrong?"
Changing the subject didn't seem to distract the Yarrow from the wounds. She shook her head from side to side. "I came earlier than I thought I would. I wanted to... uh... surprise you, Your Majesty."
Formalities. How long had they known each other and the Diamond was still using formalities. It was the proper thing to do in public, but sometimes the proper thing just made everything awkward. And they were in her office alone. "Surprise me?"
"Ah, yes," the woman paused for a moment before shouldering off a small bag. It was carefully placed on the ground, and opened. It was a bouquet of oddly purple Roses. Ones that were completely different from anything Xiven had seen in the court of Hearts. "I just happened to get lucky and these flowers sprouted up in my garden. I thought of you and..." She carefully picked them up in her mouth. Getting up on her hind legs she presented them on the Queen's desk.
They were beautiful. The inside of the rose was as dark as the color of Xiven's fur, while the out edges slowly faded the the purple that bordered on white. When Xiven picked up the flowers she hesitated. "Calanthe I don't deserve these...."
The woman gave her a rather shocked look. "If anyone does, you do. I... I shouldn't stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but I hope whoever hurt you got what was coming to them. You don't deserve anything less than the proper respect you deserve."
For a long moment Xiven buried her face in the flowers to hide her tears. Cal really was a sweet person. Someone that Xiven had always dreamed existed. And yet she couldn't let go of that person. That man. No matter how hard she tried to fall out of love it always ended up coming back at the worst of times.
She pulled away from the flowers. "Everything got carried away." She stood up to get the nearest empty container to set the flowers in. It was funny that every delicate thing Cal touched always seemed to be in perfect condition. Once the flowers were safe she reached up to take off the bandages that wrapped her ear.
She turned to face the canine. "And I can never forget that. And yet I still love him despite all that he put me through."
There was outrage clearly painted across the face of the Yarrow woman. She made an indignant sound. It was the first time Xiven had seen her anything beyond sweet, kind or happy. She didn't seem furious, just utterly frustrated. "He doesn't deserve someone as amazing as you! M'lady how could you let him do something like that to you? I-I-It doesn't make sense! You're a strong woman and your so kind! How could anyone want to do that to you?"
Xiven was more than a little surprised. It wasn't everyday a Six of Diamonds would chide her for being careless. The feline made an unsure sound as she shifted on her feet. How could she respond to that. "I suppose I should be perfectly honest with you and tell you the whole story. I never really explained to you how... unfortunate my love life was and really still is. And just so you know, you can call me by my name. We've known each other long enough."
The blush was impossible to miss.
Xiven hoped she wouldn't regret trusting another person. But really. How could she not trust someone like Calanthe?
The woman had been hanging on every word, her expression changing with each new part of the explanation. When Xiven had finished there was a silence between the pair.
Cal broke the silence with a sigh before she spoke. "I think you deserve so much more, Xiven."
Xiven's eyes widened. Of all the this for the woman to say she hadn't expected that in the slightest. And the look of complete honesty was painted on her face. What she spoke was the truth in her eyes.
It was strange.
Love without complications? She knew it didn't exist, but Cal seemed to think that it was possible. "You're such an amazing person, you know that Calanthe?" Before the Yarrow could protest she leaned across the desk and gently planted a kiss on the other woman's nose. "I can't thank you enough for saying that."
The blush was a bright crimson that shone through the pale colored fur like a ray of sunlight through a stain glass window. "Y-you're welcome! But everything I said I--"
Xiven placed a finger on her muzzle. "I know. Just accept the compliment."
She nodded.
Love without complications, huh? Maybe it was worth a try.
