Hearts: The Claw
Hearts are a bit rarer in society, and are also the most revered. For parents to receive a Heart as a child is a blessing and a delight, as the child will probably bring them power that they do not have. The ferocity and short temper of the Suit is legendary, but not necessarily true for all in the Suit. Hearts have a tendency towards recklessness and wildness in their actions, though their ability to muster power at the snap of their fingers is most assuredly true and remarkable. It serves them well as the most feared and respected of the Suits.
The symbol of the Hearts, the Claw, is most fitting, as there is nothing more brutal than to be hit in the face with something sharp; be it their wit, their magic, or their fist, the experience won't be pleasant. Hearts tend to delight in the fact that they are represented as ruthless and unkind. Some of them feel that power cannot truly be gained with kindness, though others resent the fact that their friendships are all superficial and that their lovers are all two-faced. They may attempt to make themselves seem different.
Basic Magical Ability: All Hearts can ignore moderate amounts of pain for up to an hour, depending on the willpower of the individual.
Five - Seven:
Fives, Sixes, and Sevens are the most commonly found members of society and are seen as the "middle class". Since there are so many of them, they are seen as the "norm" and feel that there is nothing wrong with their lot in life if they remain where they are. They tend to be pleased with life and can get mediocre jobs as higher-end servants in the Courts, living their lives comfortably in the average end of society. Higher-ups may still look down on them, but they can all feel justified in gossiping about that moronic snot at dinner or with the neighbors.
Canine:
Canines are the most common breed type in the realm; they live everywhere and are exceedingly adaptable. They generally tend toward looking like wolves, domesticated dogs, and foxes.
Lowland:
Residents are usually brown with purple and green twining patterns tracing down their shoulders and eyes. They are often emaciated.
The Lowlands are the most disreputable of the realms. Dark and dreary, the buildings are unkempt and falling apart in many places. There are very few jobs available and many residents are forced to go out and labor for others in order to secure their meals, much less homes and possessions. The members themselves even seem shabby or in disrepair, some having quite gruesome appearances and mannerisms. Lowlanders are rarely taken in to work in the Courts; if they are then they are kept out of sight, hidden in the kitchens or out in the stables. The Lowlands are on the other side of the Range from Josiggy Marsh and the residents hate each other with a fiery passion, often finding excuses to cross the range and attack each other. The Range is neutral in this feud.

Tamah, despite being a Lowlander and living in that region her whole life, loves, well, everyone. She holds no grudges and is terribly confused when others are not accepting of her.(It's rather easy to make her cry as well)

A Chance Encounter
"It all happened when I was but a young sprat...." And that was how Tamah began her tale, feeding the ears of some young lowland brat whom happened to be sent to her for punishment, some distant relative, what his title was she just couldn't remember, nor did she really care about it, especially now. Now she had merely slipped into a daydream, or rather a flashback really, the details of which just seemed to pour from her maw and into the ears of her younger company. As her reality and her mind fused together, to her it was as if she were merely reliving the tale......
She was but a mere pup, scruffy, hungry and her ears had just recently... fallen off but she was bright eyed and happy all the same. She had been skipping and humming a little tune, gathering flowers for her mother as she went along. The sun was shining brightly in a crystal blue summer sky and the air had been kissed with the heavenly aroma of flowers. However, she hadn't noticed that she had made her way far from her village and was skirting along the outside of the Lowland Territory, the flowers being thicker here and all. Something crossed her line of vision, a shadow, and it tickled her curiosity. She knew there wasn't any clouds in the sky, so what could possibly be blocking the sun? She peered up, big blue eyes dancing and reflecting her inquisitive nature even as they met the cold amber orbs of an older Josiggy native. Naive as she was she began to wag her tail at him, offering him a winning smile and a greeting in a voice that was sweeter then sugar. "Hello there! Why are you out here?! Can I help you find something? What's your name?"
However her enthusiasm wasn't reciprocated and the teen-aged feline sneered at her, flicking his tail in obvious agitation. What on earth did the little runt have up her sleeve? Lowland scum was never so kind to his region... unless they either needed some thing from them (a rather rare event), or they had some vile, devious plot to vanquish them. She may be just a youngling, but she might also be a pawn of a much older, higher ranked pest. He leaned forward, baring his fangs at the young, earless piece of trash and let a growl resonate from his throat. "Well my little garbage runt, where is your puppeteer hiding? Is it controlling you from afar? Or perhaps is your game to lull me into a false sense of security? Well, I shall certainly have none of that! I know... I'll kill the pawn now, and find the Puppeteer later... " And the corners of his maw twisted up into a devilish smirk as he tensed his muscles, lifting a paw slightly and unsheathing claws that looked... much sharper then the norm.
That friendly, delighted look on the young femme's visage slowly turned from happy, to confused and finally to out right terror. She had heard much talk of the foulness of those that hailed from the Josiggy Marsh, but she never believed them, until now. Here she was, face to face with one and he couldn't even believe she was just being nice! She watched as the paw raised higher and swallowed hard, shrinking down and whimpering before covering her eyes and ducking down into a shivering ball of terror. She was entirely certain that this was the end, that she would die right here among all the lovely flowers, another casualty of a rivalry that no one even remembered the causes of.
However, that ending never came, instead she heard a startled sound that caught it's self somewhere between feline screech and a gurgley growl of sorts, rather odd indeed. She lifted a paw slowly, one of those crystal blues peering out to see what had happened to her grim reaper, only to find that the one whom she believed was destined to end her story had had his ended instead. There atop the still twitching carcass of the feline was the figure of another lowlander, one in bi-pedal form as well. Perhaps it was the sun, perhaps it was the fact that he'd saved her life, but she saw him in a light that no one else could. She uncovered both of her eyes and peered up at him with gleeful adoration, she had been saved! The more she stared at him, the more she began to idolize this lowland knight in shining armor, without the armor of course. She finally found her savior like all those pretty damsels in the stories she'd been told.
She rose to her paws and stepped toward him, her eyes shining and her maw carrying the biggest smile she'd ever given anyone. "Thank you Mr.!... Uh... Mr?" To think, she didn't know this delightful creatures name! That was such a travesty in her little mind, surely he would share it, and surely he would have a voice that rivaled the angels themselves.
The rat peered down at the pup giving her his usual cold stare and taking note of how her decay was so, obvious. Her ears had fallen off, how terrible... and he could also see the beginnings of a few other places that would probably get rather nasty as the girl aged. And oh, she was speaking? Oh, yes, it was quite reasonable that she wished to know the name of the one whom had saved her, even if it hadn't been for her sake at all really. Still, now that he was staring into those big blue eyes of hers he felt a tinge of pity and placed his pack on the ground, rustling through it for a moment and removing a clean, white section of cloth. He kneeled down and gently tied the piece around her head tying it tightly, but not tight enough to hurt, or strangle. "Osias."
At this gesture her heart just soared, how nice he was! She was certain that this was the one she'd dreamed of meeting. Her little tail, already losing fur in a certain patch, went a mile a minute as she nearly lost her balance. She was to busy in her happy thoughts to notice that Osias had gotten up, gathered his things and was walking away from her. He was actually quite a bit away from her when she came back down to earth and she jumped to her paws, running forward a bit and yelling after him, "Tamah! My name is Tamah!"
And just like in her story she returned to her own reality, and not that of the past. She had a pleasant smile on her face and her attention drifted to her young charge, finding him sound asleep and snoring softly. Well, he just didn't know a good story when he heard one now did he?!
She made her way to her window, staring out into the emptiness and sighing softly. One day she would find her knight, she was going to get out of this nowhere town and make something of herself, make herself worthy of such enigma.... even if she never ran across him again. She just had to.... make things better. Better for herself, her family.... her land. Things just couldn't stay like this!
