Vergel watched in amusement as Imre and Kafzi rolled around cheerfully and, as soon as he announced his own 'waking', he found himself scooped up into Imre's monster hugs. The bookchild wiggled his wings happily, though his eye rolled to follow Rosemary once she woke.
Would she say something? Should he?
He'd never anticipated something so fully in his life. He wanted so badly to go that he could barely contain himself yet, by some miraculous grace, he managed to keep his eager questions to himself all throughout breakfast.
Imre grinned as Rosemary woke and set to cooking. The smell of pancakes were wonderful and oh-so tempting, Imre would have to make breakfast for dinner tonight. With the girls focused on breakfast and Vergel pointedly distracting himself with a book, Imre took a moment to slip outside. It gave him time to stretch his legs and gave Shashi a chance to have a small change in scenery. His poor friend was always complaining of boredom.
Maybe they would move to a bigger house soon? It was getting cramped in his little one bedroom shack now that he had a family and all that goodness.
Humming to himself, Imre slipped back inside just in time to help with the clean up. Though Imre didn't say anything directly (not that he could), it wouldn't be too hard for Rosemary to catch Imre's growing curiosity about her conversation with Vergel beginning to scrawl across her coat.

Shashi, though he would never admit to it, appreciated the change in surroundings. Especially when he was stuck in one corner of the nasty little shack. He looked a little more cheerful than he had before, but not by much.
Breakfast was good, even if she had to fix it herself. She had a nice little chat with her crazy little girl. How was she going to break it to Imre that she wanted to go on a little trip with Vergel? And how was Kafzi going to take it?
The words that were scrawled out on her fur when Imre entered gave her a hint. Apparently he had heard what was going on last night, huh? "So I take it you don't mind that I'm going to take Vergel to see my father's workshop?" she said as she finished off the last of the dishes.
The little girl would have frowned if it was possible. As it was she was only capable of drooping. Apparently she wasn't invited on the little outing.

Imre paused as Rosemary spoke. Oh? Of course, his thoughts had leaked onto her fur. He shook himself for the momentary lapse in thought and then grinned beneath the paper mask.
No, I don't mind. It sounds like something he'll really appreciate... Just worried about having him so far away. His gaze drifted to Kafzi, watching the sadness appear in her tiny frame. More than Vergel, he was worried about Kafziel. She'd gone on little outings of her own in The Wood but never for as long as this journey would probably be. His concerns would be clear as day to Rosemary, but the bird-wolf clicked a talon against the wooden board. Perhaps I can take Kafzi somewhere special as well, I think she'll like that.
Vergel instantly began to doubt this plan to travel. Not because he was uncomfortable going out into the world, but because he hadn't thought of Kafzi not being with him. He'd never been anywhere without Kafzi, though she did go out from time to time. The bookchild fluffed up his wings and glanced over at his sister.
To her and her alone, he whispered. Will you be okay if I go? I have an idea, maybe. He'd been thinking about it all night and he was fairly certain it might be possible. If GranDaddy could be put in a doll body... why can't I? Then I'd have hands or whatever I wanted and we'd be able to go places whenever we want. So, at very least, it was worth checking it out.
Of course, he didn't think about how his thoughts might also be transcribed upon his father's coat. His worries, his plans, all of it was hers to see. Oops.

Rosemary paused holding a dish as she read Imre's thoughts. Yes, she supposed Kafzi had never exactly gone somewhere without her brother unless it was a little walk. The time she had poked around and ran into those outsiders. And the girl had been pining for her brother shortly after the incident.
Rosemary's ears suddenly perked as she remembered something. "That's right! I forgot!" he hurried over to her bag and dug around for a few moments.
Kafziel nodded emphatically at her brother's remark. She didn't like to be away from him, but she could go without him. As long as they weren't spending the night away from each other or anything. Her ears panned forward with curiosity at her brother's strange remark. A doll? Was that possible? Granddad had been a doll but....
Rosemary had produced a rather worn looking pelt from her bad. She brushed it out and spun around to show it to everyone. She faintly noted the script appearing on her fur from her son's plans, and tried her best not to frown. She would have a little chat with him in private about that.
"This is a little magical item I managed to acquire. I wasn't quite sure of its properties until I poked around for a bit. But, it would appear that if someone wears it as a cape they can take on the appearance of an Ace. In theory Kafziel could go out in public with you without... incident."
Imre was frightening, but most people didn't go screaming bloody murder that he was a horrible monster. It would at least give Kafzi a chance, even if she had to pretend to be a pet.
Junkyard Ace Pelt: This mangy looking pelt has and Ace marking on it, Spades apparently, and it looks like it was once a Josiggy/Benyan mix. It may have been a rug for several years, judging by the state of the thing, and the one or two holes that were worn, not cut, into it. When held, it tingles quite a lot and if tugged on like a cloak, the owner will find that they are able to make themselves look exactly like a Canine Ace of Spades from the mix described for up to a full hour. Inconspicuous, especially if they don a collar, they can slip around anywhere pretending to be on errand for "Master", if they choose.
