Yes Sabe was quite the rare queen and didn't really pay attention to the gossip of the streets or the rumors that spread themselves like wildfire across the Courts. He was someone important but didn't care for the power plays or the mud slinging. He was just a man that liked to get things done without a worry about what it would look like to others. After all... when the dust settled, no matter the rumors, it was the one who had done the most that would be sighted as a true gentleman of the people. So he had no worries, or regrets.
He would glance over to what she was doing wishing that he had something to plug his nose vents with... but instead decided to bear it like a great weight. He was happy that he hadn't decided to become a doctor like his father wanted him to be. The fumes where something that he might be able to to get over, after all... he had been to some of the worst bogs ever in the realms.
"Oh... I'm going to a conference pretty soon to discuss outbound trade from several regions into the Capital. The money flow of the regions is starting to go out of whack with the many enterprises that are buying for power each day. So the Coin is getting more expensive then what the normal card would be able to afford." he said as he walked back into the living room where he had a stack of papers that he was looking over the night before.
"So in essence, I'm trying to make it where you can buy things once again cheaper... and make everyone happier. " he said as he lifted the papers so that he could start reading again. Too many numbers for one... and two... lots of things he had to do before the conference. Though the diversion of Mrs Price was interesting and reminded him what he was doing. Trying to help out as much as he could.

One of the ferret’s eyebrows raised mere millimeters in surprise. Iso had no notion that prices had been rising. In truth, outside commodities were neatly categorized in her mind’s eye as “expensive” and “not expensive”. The majority of her affairs were handled through an accountant, and when she ran low on funds she merely sent a perfunctory letter to the university detailing her request.
Her particular line of work lent itself to a certain laziness regarding global concerns. She had vague notions that politics were unseemly and that certain realms had biases toward one another, but that information was all filtered through the lens of scientific indifference. Concepts such as “the economy”, “international cooperation” and “realm prejudices” only registered when those socio-economic factors related to her research, and even then it was filed away amongst other data to be recalled only when she deemed it pertinent. (In other words, if it wasn’t right in front of her or correlate directly to her work, she didn’t know or care about it.)
What was impressed upon her was that the Queen himself was bothering to attend the conference – didn’t the Courts have lesser lackeys nobles to send on those sort of missions?
And you would go yourself? It must be important if the Queens are expected.
It seemed fitting that His Odd Majesty would insist on a personal appearance, but what was even more striking was his seemingly genuine concern for the people. For Iso, most matters could be summed up in two ways – regarding the Courts, she assumed that Cards either were interested or were not. Those interested were already in the Court system or were working their way toward it. Those disinterested could care less what the nobility was up to, unless, of course, it effected them personally. She puzzled over the desire to take up a position where one’s endeavors were either ignored or rebelled against. Such effort for such little reward. Pity.
One would hope that the gesture is appreciated, though I doubt it.
The doctor, neglecting tact nor anticipating the sort of reaction her words might cause, turned to inspect the stewing utensils. Her mood improved slightly as she surveyed the progress of her tools and turned to face her host once again, her eyes a little brighter.
Five more minutes should be adequate.

Sabe couldn't help but smile at her words, for he had heard them much before. Even among his court they looked at him for being too active in the Capital and trying to help all that would be around him. Many would even look on him for being socially retarded for he had no tact nor any good political standing yet. He was like a soldier trying to act as a politician. Though in his case it was more or less the Lower Class trying to work his way up to the top while trying to get his business up and going. He had only turned to being a Queen in the Courts just because he had wanted to help people.
"Why yes, I would go myself to handle things personally so that I can see them come to fruition with my own eyes. Though... as you have noted, not everyone will enjoy this, or may even stand in my way of the bill that might be passed." he said as he looked over at her. It was the people like her that remained neutral that was the biggest problem that he faced.
People to him were set in three categories: With, Against, Without. Those that were with him turned out to be those that supported his ideals and helped him achieve them through his methods. Those that were against him, were also those that were against what he thought would be best for the regions, which included those that would act to fulfill what he believed in through any means necessary. Those that were in the middle turned out to be those that would be the hardest to convince on what was going around them. Those that didn't see what happened on a daily basis that kept their world spinning. They were the ones that were the hardest to convince that there was something at work than themselves in the world that tried to make things a lot easier for them to live.
Though... he couldn't quite place on which side she was on yet, and well... it was just not the right time to try to play politics with someone. After all... it was time for coffee.
So he stood up and walked into the kitchen where she waited. This was after all where he was staying at the time, so he didn't put it past himself to have walked in on someone doing anything. He had almost forgotten that she was here while he was thinking about all those things. He was such a scatter minded person most of the time.
"OH, excuse me, I... was going to make some coffee, would you care to stick around?" he asked as he fumbled around in the acidic smells of the kitchen for some cups as he turned on the brewer for the coffee. "I'm hoping that the smell of coffee brewing would help negate the smell of whatever your using to clean your stuff." he said as he smiled at her as he pulled down to glasses from the cabinet.

(( ha... super long post, sorry... XD ))
Iso resumed her nonchalant visage and mostly relaxed posed while she surveyed the heron lost in his own thoughts. The smile was impossible to miss, and even someone as socially unobservant as the doctor couldn’t miss the wry nature of his grin. Apparently she wasn’t the only one who thought it was odd to see any Queen performing beyond the expected duties of running a Court.
She nodded absently as the Club explained himself and couldn’t help but feeling somewhat satisfied by his remarks. Politics aside, she could support someone who saw their work through to the end, and she certainly approved of his dedication to doing things his way, even if everyone else looked down upon him for it. As far as Iso was concerned, the Kahmden was in entirely the wrong line of work, but so far it seemed to be working in his favor. These Court types were certainly bizarre.
It was to the Corvie’s benefit that the heron hadn’t made a question of her position regarding global matters because she simply didn’t have one. He would find that she clearly occupied his “without” category. Her apathy was certainly of a unique kind- if it didn’t pertain directly to her life or work, it wasn’t worth worrying about. There were other people around that had time for that sort of nonsense. If she could keep doing what she had been doing, then everything was right in her world. Arguing with her or attempting to cajole her into caring would have been an exercise in futility, as she would more than likely walk away or simply disengage mentally from the conversation.
Luckily for her, the heron didn’t seem to be pushy or have an agenda in mind to harass her with. And though he was aggravatingly cheerful and overly helpful, she seemed able to tolerate him. (Coming from someone who tended to categorize everyone as mentally unsound, it was almost a complement.) All Iso cared to entertain was that she wasn’t in a hurry to be rid of his presence, and that was as much as she could ever hope for in another Card.
Iso became lost in her own thoughts, mulling over the interesting fact that she had met at least two people that weren’t complete wastes of space. Any other Card might have found that statistic horrifying considering she had been in the Capital for several months now, but the Spade merely shuffled the data as if it were something as arbitrary as the characteristics of the local flora and fauna. Deep in her subconscious something in her probably sighed in relief, however that part of her was locked away and wouldn’t see the light of day (if she could help it).
Her superficial contemplations were interrupted as the heron re-entered the kitchen and offered her some coffee. It wasn’t her most favored of beverages, then again Iso didn’t really favor any foodstuffs unless it came in a cylindrical vial. She rarely paid attention to what she ate and unless it was rotten or tough as leather she usually ate what was put in front of her. She hesitated, recalling that she had been in a hurry to depart at first, but after some harmless chatter with the Queen she had shed her anxiety and fears about the man. She was rather tired from lack of sleep, so perhaps a cup would help her as she ran her errands later that day. It couldn’t hurt and she had left early this morning. There would be plenty of time in the day to do… whatever it was she had told herself she was doing.
That would be... nice. The instruments are sterilized now. I’ll drain the solution.
It was a typically awkward exchange from the ferret, but perhaps it would be better to air out the kitchen now that her utensils were clean. He had been rather gracious, after all.

(It was a long post, XD)
The hereon looked over at the woman that was in his kitchen and but smiled. It was nice having someone around that didn't try to do something every two seconds to try to trip you up in silly word games and political matters. Sabe enjoyed just talking to people at random, just to figure out who they are and what they plan to be when they advance their personal agendas. With that type of knowledge of what everyone else was trying to do outside of the courts would give him enough data to formulate an effective way of balancing out what he wanted to do in the courts for everyone else. Sabe wasn't just out to look out for those that were not just Clubs, but all types of cards. He wanted to make a better life for him and everyone else. It was a odd notion yes… but it was something that drove him to do things like this.
Helping the Economy in the Capital wouldn’t just help out the Court of Clubs but would help those that were less fortunate than others. He was going to drop prices and taxes for those that didn’t have much money to throw around, but those that had millions of gold… well they would have to pay out more taxes to keep the realms running. It was simple and yet… unproven at the moment. He hoped that it will work out in the end and cause many people to be happy. Not to mention, there were some barbaric laws of the land that caused much heart ache and caused many people to dislike you. Some of those will have to be retrofied so that he didn’t have to see hardship for anyone. Especially the Queens of the Courts.
Sabe wanted to be the Queen of the Court of Clubs. Though… he didn’t want to have to kill anyone to get that position. It just caused too much pain for everyone and anyone that liked the previous one wouldn’t care for him and plan on taking him out as soon as they saw the chance. The world as it was, was a terrible place where death and decay worked out the most than mercy and compassion. Maybe he was just too much of a bleeding heart, but… he might end up dyeing towards the end. It was ok… so long as his thoughts passed fourth to some other joe.
He haden’t even realized that he was spacing out at the moment before he heard the window open up fully and a fan placed. He looked quickly went back to prepping the cups, cream, and sugar. He laid it all out on a platter and waited for the coffee in the machine to finish. Well… now would be best for some idle banter, no?
”So if you don’t mind me asking, what brings you here to the Capital, or do you live and work here?” he asked as he leaned on the counter waiting for her reply or something to be thrown. It has happened before. . .

If Sabe had attempted to regale Iso with the thoughts that were currently occupying his mind, she would not have known what to do with the information. Iso didn’t care enough to label anyone with names like “bleeding heart”, though it certainly would have boggled her mind that someone was capable of caring for everyone and everything all at once. It was demand enough that she poured herself into her research, trying to better the lives of others through medical advances. There simply wasn’t enough time in the day to champion every cause. Though had she bothered to think about it in a different light, she might have found herself thankful that Cards like him were around and fighting to make a difference; she might have even made an interesting comparison between their efforts. As it was, she found the heron to be somewhat enigmatic.
Iso pushed aside her contemplations in favor of draining the sink and running scalding hot water over her utensils for one final rinse, then reached for the pile of towels that Sabe had earlier set out for her. She shook open a few of them and laid them gently over the countertop next to the sink, then one by one began gingerly placing each of her tools onto the towel to dry. The woman took her time with the task out of habit. Each tool was invaluable to her trade and had long ago learned to treat her supplies with utmost respect. It didn’t do to mistreat the very items that had made her so successful, and though Iso would never admit it, the sanitization process was also a meditative session.
Luckily enough for the ferret, her host had chosen that same time to become lost in his own thoughts, and the two simply existed in the same physical space while inhabiting very different mental ones. It was nice, really, to be able to complete her task without interruption or constant questioning, and when the bird finally shook her from her reverie with his idle chatter she found that for once she didn’t mind the small talk.
Both, actually. I’m currently occupying a space in the Outer Bazaar, the lower level of which serves as my laboratory.
She paused and tilted her head in thought, realizing that she was contemplating telling him more. It was an unusual feeling for her, but the Queen had opened himself up to her and she felt compelled to do the same.
It used to belong to my late brother. I’m still…adjusting… to the city, and it’s been a greater trial than I had anticipated.

As she talked he payed close attention and realized that he was ready to move if she had asked him. He did his best to stay out of her way as she finished her cleaning and at the same time made two cups of coffee for the two. After all it was still early morning for them, so coffee he hopped would be adiquite for the two of them. With that he started to pour the coffee in two cups and waited for her to add her own sugar and cream. He had real sugar from the Cain wood and cream strait from the market and fresh. It was nice sometimes to be a tittled queen in the courts. You get some of the best perks.
He added two cubes and a few ounces of cream to his coffee and waited for her to do the same or not. He instead decided that he would press for a bit more data so that he could know something about the medical core that existed here in the capital. He didn't have much opportunity to ask some of them how they felt and how they acted around. What their needs and wants were so that he could formulate more arguments that he would push here in the meeting set for tonight.
So... in the short time that I have known you, I have already decided that, with your permission, if you could answer some questions so I can formulate arguments for the meeting of the courts here in the Capital.
He said as he took the rest of the coffee to the table and waited patently for her to come over. so that they could drink in a better setting before each other. It was only the proper thing to do.

Iso waited while her host poured them both cups of steaming brew. Sabe might have had the best of accoutrements to accompany the pungent drink, but Iso would simply not notice the difference. She generally consumed food and beverages as an afterthought, recognizing the pangs of hunger as another inconvenience of biological necessity (much like having to use the restroom or breathing). So it was with some apathy that she splashed a cube or two into her cup and added some cream until it looked appropriately “coffee-esque.” The ferret stirred the coffee distractedly while the heron accomplished the same tasks with an energetic finesse.
With a start Iso realized the Queen had meandered over to a nearby table and joined him shortly afterward.
Arguments for the Court? She repeated as she eased herself into the seat across from him. I doubt my opinion on any matter would be grounds for an authoritative stance. I believe there is a commission of some sort that is licensed to speak for the scientific community. That is the sort of information you seek? She puzzled over what he might possibly ask of her.
Truth be told, Iso was slightly unnerved that the Kahmden wanted to interview her. Iso was a bit of a hermit, even as far as Corvies went. The outside world was a bit of an enigma, though not nearly interesting enough for her to bother investigating anything that might potentially perplex her. As far as she was concerned, worldly matters were someone else's problem, and as long as it didn't affect her research, it was none of her concern.
