Felix was prone to flirt with pretty much anything that moved...well, that wasn't entirely true; he had some standards after all! But Rosemary was pretty and fun and intelligent, so the Porcupine didn't even have a second thought about chatting her up a bit. "I have to agree with you there," he said, eyes following her tail as it swished. His paws itched to reach out and grab it, but he was too sober to think that was a good idea.
Felix unconsciously leaned forward as she did, unabashedly staring. Well, in his mind any Biped that walked around unclothed was inviting other Cards to admire them. "Mmmm, well, best of luck," he replied, only half listening. The words scrawled across her stomach were drawing his eyes downward until he snapped back to actually meet her eyes again, grinning.
"Oh?" His round ears perked forward hopefully, and his spiky tail gave a small wag. He tilted his head for a moment in thought, and then raised one paw and said decisively, "I think the one about the lady of the lake! That sounds the happiest." Sea monsters were cool and all, but the other one sounded like it might be a bit sad, and he thought the night should be more uplifting than that. His hot cocoa chose this moment to arrive, and Felix happily accepted the drink from the waitress, taking a sip of it and then panting a bit as it burned his tongue.

Rosemary couldn't help but smirk at his ogling. It was nice until his eyes trailed down below her chest. He was probably staring at the writing now. That was a bit of a downer sometimes. People were more interested in the words than her.
But now was time to focus on a story. Though she wasn't quite sure what to think about an uplifting story. This one was a mixture of... ah well. He picked it so she wasn't going to hesitate or explain.
"There was a man who had searched the realms far and wide of a weapon that would defeat the evil monster that was threatening his home. He had run out of options and had returned to the lake where he was born. There he sat, dipping his paws into the water idly. A faint glimmer of hope still in his mind as he tried to formulate a plan to defeat the monster." Rosemary shifted so she could use her hands to gesture properly. "And then he saw something of unspeakably beauty. A human woman popped up from the water in the center of the lake. With along flowing pure white hair, and brightly colored green eyes that could be seen from a mile away. Her pale skin almost looked iridescent to the man. He tried to cry out, but as soon as the woman saw him she disappeared under the water again."
Her fingers tapped lightly on the table, her claws making a clicking sound. "The man was at a loss of what to do. Should he go into the water? Had he just been hallucinating? Was this a sign from the heavens? The man took a step into the water..."
The woman paused to drink her coffee and pose a question to Felix. "Are you with me so far?"

In Felix's mind, the words were a part of her, this mysterious woman who liked to tell stories. He thought of them as something to compliment her fur, make it prettier and more enchanting. His eyes would idly follow the fancy looking scripts, but half the time he wasn't even actually reading them...just watching the interesting way the words curved around her form. But as Rose began her story, Felix's rounded ears perked fully forward and he leaned a bit closer to her as well, his full attention on her voice and the story it told.
His eyes widened as she started the story, and Felix had to hold himself back from interrupting with the comments that wanted to spill lazily from his mouth. He didn't want to be rude, after all...being rude to pretty ladies who were nice enough to entertain you with stories wasn't cool at all. The woman, he thought, sounded very pretty, and he wondered what she was wearing, if anything. The thought made his tail twitch.
At the pause, Felix leaned forward so far that he found his nose inches from Rose, and he sat back up with a start, somehow managing not to spill his cocoa even though he was nodding vigorously. "Yeah, I am. There was a guy that wanted to find a weapon but instead he found this pretty naked Human girl in the water with green eyes and white hair." He smiled eagerly and waited for her to pick the story back up.

With the way he was acting she hadn't been particularly sure if he was paying the story any mind. She was rather encouraged when he was able to actually sum up the story. Maybe there was more under those quills than met the eye. From the way he was staring at her, she never would have guessed.
"Yes," she said with a smile. "He took a step into the water, one foot after another he found himself in the middle of the lake where the girl was. However when he dipped under the water he was disappointed to find absolutely nothing. The girl was nowhere to be found. Even after he swam back to shore and asked the towns people if they had seen the eerie beauty he was heartbroken. No one had ever seen such a human in the town.
Discouraged, the hero slept besides the lake when night fell. Despite the chill he slept soundly, and when he awoke to the faint touch of something caressing his muzzle, he was surprised to wake to the sight of a sword sitting in front of him. The weapon had been placed in the ground before him, glimmering brightly in the faint morning light. He reached out and slowly ran his fingers along the edge of the blade. The weapon was clearly real and exactly what he had been hoping for. A blade that could destroy anything that it touched.
With high spirits he went to slay the beast that was terrorizing his village, though part of him still wished to linger for the sake of seeing that girl once again."

Felix answered her smile with a grin, though as the story continued, his expression fell into sympathy and he made a small sound. The poor guy! The must have sucked to swim all the way to the middle of the lake and find nothing! Golden eyes flickered as she continued, the Porcupine completely entranced. Rose really was a good storyteller, and she had her audience captivated...for what it was worth. Some mornings, just the way that the water made ripples when he dipped his paw in was enough to captivate Felix. But was that such a bad thing? The simple life was something he cherished, that something many Cards wished they could find. But they all tried to hard to be happy, when happiness was in just sitting back and enjoying what was around you.
At the pause, Felix couldn't help but add in cheerfully, "I would've stayed for the girl. That's better than a sword any day!" He took another sip of his hot chocolate, leaning back a bit in his chair with a contented sigh, though his eyes never left the Wolf across from him.

Rosemary chuckled. That was an adorable comment, and perhaps a slight hint of seduction? Even if he wasn't exactly her type she might make an exception for something that adorable. "Oh just wait, it gets so much better." She took a sip of her drink while she still could. She was about to launch into another explanation.
Carefully setting down the drink she began the story again, moving her hands emphatically as she went.
"The monster the man had to face was a true dragon. As terrifying as monsters come, it the fire it breath could melt anything. It could even turn the water instantly to steam. Many had tried to slay the beast and had been burned to cinders. The man had tried to face it once, and had only been saved because of the grace of another. To avenge the fallen he stood in front of the savage fire breathing monster with his sword held high. He didn't hesitate. He didn't falter. The fire that the monster breathed was frozen solid by the magic sword that the hero had recovered. The fight went on for days. And when all hope had seemingly faded the creature fell to the ground dead.
So the hero fell to his knees, dropping the beautiful sword that had saved his life. Bleeding a broken he collapsed. There wasn't a single soul around for miles. Everyone had left when the brave man had started his fight. After all, everyone before him had died, and no one else was willing to risk their life for a foolish man.
It seemed like he was going to die alone. He then felt a gentle touch on his face. When he looked up he saw the woman of unspeakable beauty standing before him. Her long white hair was down the ground, she wore a beautiful white gown. Her eyes were the brightest green he had ever seen in his entire life.
She spoke three simple words to him in a whisper. "Take me home."
Though the hero was on the verge of death... he stood. He stood for the woman in front of him. The woman who seemed to glimmer like the sword that had defeated the dragon."

Felix's eyes widened to roughly the size of dinner plates as the story continued. It was a story about a Dragon! Dragons were creatures of myth and legend that the Porcupine hadn't heard too much about, since his mother was a practical woman and didn't see the use in speaking to her son of Rabbits or Jokers or other silly things like that. But Felix knew enough to understand how dangerous such a thing would be if it really existed. (Did it? Who knew. Either way it wouldn't affect Felix until he actually met one, so he didn't see the need to waste time debating the reality of such things, especially not in the middle of an exciting legend).
By the time the woman had appeared again and made her request, Felix's eyes were filed with tears. Secretly, he was a bit of a sap at heart, and he always had a soft spot for such things. "That's so beautiful, that he'd do that for her! How very brave," the Selkie said in a wavery, watery voice, nose scrunching up with the effort to not cry.

He was utterly adorable. There was no other word for it that she could possibly think of. The woman shifted her weight to place her chin on her hands, and watch for a few moments as he seemed to struggle with tears.
A large part of her was squealing with joy.
"He went to the lake. The lake where he had first spotted the beautiful woman. She stood by his side, helping him into the water. All the while a bright smile was on her face even though the hero could feel himself struggle to keep awake. When the woman released him he stumbled into the water on his hands and knees. He looked to the woman, was this the home that she meant, or had he misunderstood?
She placed a hand on his heart. "I've always been with you. I'm now your weapon, after all. A piece of your soul. When you need me, just call. Call the name you've given me from the bottom of your heart."
He didn't understand. Not a word of it. He watched though as she literally faded from existence. Terror washed over him as he struggled to find the name that she said was inside of him. How could he know her name from the bottom of his heart when they had only just met?
He touched his chest, tracing the spot where she had touched. "Lady of the Lake, why do you mock me so?" he whispered. As he pulled his fingers away from his chest, the bright light seemed to appear from it. The silver gleaming sword appeared in his hands. Only a moment later after he placed the sword on the ground did it change into the form of the woman.
The Hero cried tears of joy. How could he have missed it and how could he have been so blessed to find the piece of him that had always been missing?"
Rosemary sighed, running her fingers along the edge of her glass. "I think, for now, we'll end the tale on a happier note. Since it does continue... but I think that would be best saved for a dreary evening."

Felix's sniffled and scrubbed at his eyes ineffectually with the back of a paw as the story went on, though he went still at the surprising twist. So the woman was really the sword? A slightly more intuitive person might have guessed that, but it came as a total surprise to Felix, who stared in awe at Rose as the man in the story found the name for this woman. Was the man a Heart, then? Usually they were the ones that had special weapons like that, right? But this went beyond that...this case was special.
"That was wonderful, Rose, thank you!" Felix said honestly, dabbing at his eyes with a napkin now and sniffling a bit. Part of him wondered what the rest of the story was, but if it was sad like she said...it might be better to keep it on that note. "The dude found not only the sword he wanted, but a pretty girl. And they were the same! Now that's a happy ending if I ever heard one, heh." Though if he had to choose, the Porcupine would still pick the girl. He wouldn't know the first thing about what to do with a sword, even an epically awesome one.

Telling stories made her feel like the world was hers. A smug smile crossed her face as she watched the man's reaction. It was better than sex to get the reactions she did. The right ones, the emotional ones. Her tail curled happily.
"I'm glad you liked it," she grabbed her coffee and took a long sip. "We'll have to do it again sometime. Since I have quite a few stories under my belt and I would be more than happy to share."
She didn't want the night to be over. There was still a lot of things to do, and she still had a good deal of caffeine in her. She shifted awkwardly as she looked at the porcupine. "So do you have any stories of your own to tell. I mean you look like you've been into the nightlife for at least a little while."
