Mrs. White kept giving Menefer reassuring smiles and, occasionally, slightly worried looks. But the way she wasn't trying to hide them would clearly show that she was worried for her boyfriend and not about him. Of course, underneath it all the Feline was darkly amused that the other Feline was apparently still brooding. She enjoyed her meal twice as much because it was made all the sweeter by Menefer's fidgeting.
Of course, the food itself was also not bad, and she nibbled at her fish daintily. It was while she was reaching for her glass of wine that she caught a glance out of the corner of her eye of the little black book. What was Menefer writing? She rubbed her black-tipped paw along the edge of her glass while she peeked over at the paper, curious. It seemed to be mostly a list of spices and sorts of fish, but then...
Did that say 'flesh'? Somehow, she didn't think that was a reference to simple animal meat. Now that was truly intriguing...she sipping a bit more of her wine, finally, pretending she hadn't seen it. But when the slam of the book sounded out she jumped a bit and turned to blink wide curious eyes at the Torque. "Are you all right, dear?" The look in his eyes...it made her inner demon chortle with glee. He was wondering how much she knew. Let him wonder.

Menefer was beside himself with utter fear that everything around him was coming to an abrupt end. This whole relationship that he was trying to build, a long lasting one that would make his true dream of "love" come to complete fruition, seemed to be coming to an end... if only he could... make it better.
...or understand her true natures...
"Umm... nothing... I think we are done right? I'm... stuffed... yes stuffed, no room for desert." he stated and then quickly thought up something else to add to it, "Would you mind walking back with me? Not taking a carriage?" he asked in hope so they could have some privacy on what he was going to tell her... or the lies that he may try to conjure up.
He looked frantic, as if he was ready to bolt at the loudest noise... worry was written all over his face and body, even his tail was tucked beneath him. He looked about as if someone was out for him, paranoia seemed to have settled in.

Oh, how adorable! He was paranoid, now. Just as she had hoped. This situation was an absolute gold mine of sweet pain in her boyfriend. Mrs. White tried to look worried and sad in turn. "Yes, dear...we're done," she said, finishing off her wine with a few sips. She was a little sad that Menefer himself hadn't had very much of it, but then, it seemed that he was going to speak to her anyway. That was what he'd promised, right? I'll hold him to it.
Walking? She suppressed a groan. That would be annoying, for sure, but...outwardly she just nodded. "If that is what you want." She got up from her seat and went over to him, rubbing her face along his side. "Menefer, dear, you must be calm...nothing is going to hurt you!" She led the way out of the restaurant, anticipation singing in her heart. This was the moment. The moment when she'd find out what his true nature now was. Why he had written what he had in the book.
Her now-yellow eyes were wide with something that could have been either innocent curiosity or worry or something much darker as they were hit by the cool breeze of oncoming night. Mrs. White turned and looked at him, then nuzzled his face. He would tell her, yes he would.

Once she had finished and out the door did he wait patiently and kept quiet, even when she had said something to him. He still looked about and noticed that there were still people around, and yet when she rubbed her face against him did he smile and shake at the knees for a moment, until the guilt of what was racing through his mind had made him still paranoid.
He gave her a nod and continued on and watched about until he spotted a clearing with a lone tree atop of a small knoll. It was perfect, and private.
"This way my sweet, and I'll let you know everything." he said as he nudged her on the side of the face with his own, and even sneaked a kiss in when he pulled away and moved to the tree and waited for her to sit first. The thoughts and ideas that were running through his head was just not enough... he just knew that this was going to destroy them... together... there wouldn't be a "Us" any more...
He gave a heavy sigh and once she had sat he started to speak.
"It... isn't that I'm afraid that someone is out to hurt me, but the... possibility of arrest and a very padded room." he said with a heavy sigh... "Something... happened to me that night" he said and looked up at her and pleaded with his eyes... to just say something, encouragement or something.

Mrs. White could tell how seriously worried Menefer was about whatever was now growing in his mind. His actions made that obvious, and the fact that his mouth refused to stay tilted up into the smile he'd always worn around her before. That just made her need to know greater, and she was fairly trembling with excitement by them time they made their way up the hill to sit beside a tree.
Very picturesque, and very fitting, she thought. If only it were but a little darker, but the moon was out and shining brightly, making the grass look silver and her fur gleam with the same sheen. She sat, curling her tail around Menefer's legs, teasing him, for she knew he was nervous. The kiss he stole was evidence of that. As he began speaking, though, Mrs. White froze, as still as a statue, unnaturally so. Her yellow eyes were wide and her attention was all for him.
Of course, there was a pause. There had to be. Always another delay. The monster within her clawed and raged at the necessity, but she forced herself to speak, her voice pitched a little low. "I wouldn't let them take you away, dear. You know that," she said, one black tipped paw coming up to brush his mane aside so she could stare into his eyes, watch the fear and pain play out in them like a sunset.

She seemed very serious when she sat there and watched him with those yellowish eyes. He wanted to just tell her a lie and that it was a big joke, but he just couldn't do such a thing to her. All the attention was on him and it made him slightly unnerved with those eyes on him. He wanted to stop.... with all his might, but he had told himself...
I will tell her
He sat down next to her with his tail wrapped around her as well as hers were wrapped around him. He loved being this close and how the grass was silver with the moon full this night. There was even a slight breeze that made everything soo much better. He leaned up against her some and let the air sweep through their fur and the trees making a wonderful tranquil sound.
"I... I am a cook, through and through. I have cooked just about everything in my life... even ate most of it... but... I..." he leaned off her and looked her in the eyes with all the seriousness and pain on his face evident. He was terrified, and his voice showed. "I... had to move some... dead bodies, and... and... the flavor..." his voice got a bit more exited, "It was a taste that I had never had before, a taste that I actually enjoyed! And it started me thinking. What if... if... I got a ace? No one would care would they?" he said a pleading look on his face.
The the realization crossed his mind... he needed to apologize. "I, I'm very sorry... if you want to leave then you can. I won't hold you for this." he said pulling away from her slightly.

There was a long moment when it felt like the world around them was holding its breath. Mrs. White thought, for a moment, that he'd lose his nerve completely, or else tell her some sort of lie to placate her. If he does that, we will put him in pain, warned her inner demon. Mrs. White shivered slightly as if cold from the slight breeze, but her eyed were dark.
But then...Menefer finally began speaking. Oh. Oho. So that's how it was. She never would have expected such a thing from the gentle Feline who would cook for anyone who so much as looked at him and had fallen for her in less time than it took most Cards to walk home. She drew in a sharp gasp, mostly putting up the front while she decided what to do. Should she reveal some of herself to him? Or continue to play the damsel?
"I said I wouldn't leave," she finally murmured, and then her voice slipped a few shades darker. "Don't feel bad...sometimes we have to become monsters ourselves to cope with monstrous things," Nellwyn said, and went to nuzzle the side of his face. "It's not such a bad thing, in the end."

(O.o I haven't been adding up points from this, XD... I have been getting into it lol. I think I need to add 4 points, XD)
Her touch was a relief, it told him soo much about her that it made him feel really happy that he had someone as special to be with. He gave a heavy sigh and leaned onto her for support. He couldn't help what he felt and how he acted... things where just changing and he didn't think that he could keep up with them very well. thankfully Nell was here for him. She did say that she wouldn't ever leave him.
Though something arose his thoughts from his self doubt. What was she talking about? that people had to become monsters to cope with monstrous things? He had to ask.
"Do you have personal experience?" he asked as he gazed into her seemingly dark eyes. "It couldn't be as bad as wanting to kill and eat someone is it?" he asked as he looked away, his eyes filled with shame at mentioning it aloud.

As he leaned into her, Nellwyn moved to curl around him, so that she alone was the only thing he was touching. Now, he couldn't run. Now, he couldn't get away. Letting her darker side out with him at last meant that she wouldn't be able to cage it so easily until the sun rose again. But this was night. This was Nellwyn's time. She rumbled a very low purr, not even loud enough to hear, but loud enough that Menefer might feel it.
She met his gaze unflinchingly. "You'd be surprised," she said, and then lowered her head in a mockery of his own shame. "I'm not sure you'd wish to hear about...what I've done, before. The Tulgey is not an easy place to live, you know...the weak fall prey to either the creatures of the forest, or else their own neighbors...sometimes it's eat or be eaten, there. Though...not quite so literally." She kissed him, softly, on the cheek, but she was smiling in a way that would make any sane Card's blood run cold.

the feel of her so close made him almost forget what they were talking about. The way she smelt and the warmth of her closeness made him feel all sorts of embarrassed. He felt himself flush as she started to purr deep within her. He wanted to be close and wanted to forget all that was and now. Things just couldn't get better... until she had started speaking...
What was she talking about... had she really... he gulped... killed someone? He wanted to ask, and at the same time didn't. He just felt cold now and his jaw litterly dropped.
"I... don't... quiet know what to say... you," he said clearing his throat, "Haven't... killed before?" their was real fear in his eyes... and yet... excitement.
