Nellwyn turned to give Menefer a strange look, as if he were a pot of tea that just wouldn't boil to the correct temperature. So the Feline was fine with killing and eating an Ace...but the thought of stealing made him uncomfortable? Nellwyn wasn't exactly very good about morality, for the most part, but this -really- didn't make any sense, even by most Cards' odd standards, right? Her tail flicked and she smiled slightly.
"Yes, we are going to steal it. Or do you think it's a better idea to ask him if we can cook one of his little money makers?" She shook her head and lead him further down the stairs, going until they reached a heavy metal door. She stuck her claw into this lock, too, and picked it. With a bit of effort, the door swung open, revealing a large room lined with cages. Inside each of them were Aces of all different Realms and Breeds. Some of them were sleeping or drooling, while others had sorrowful, haunted, too-knowing looks in their eyes.
"Your choice which one we take," she said, turning to her boyfriend with a small smile. Her yellow eyes shone in the dim light.

All this was quiet new to the young adult who had never broken a rule before. Things to him were set in black and white and once he had stepped into that gray portion he really didn't know what to do. What was right or wrong was totally blurred for him. So killing and eating a ace at the moment was right, but theft was wrong to him for some reason, though for that same reason he was quite happy that Nell was here with him now.
He gazed at her for a moment as they walked down the rows of pathetic aces huddled up in small cages. It made him a bit sick to the stomach to see them like this and he had the same thought that death may be better than this, or what others would use them for. He shook his head, "Yes... your right, and let me take a second to find one that has some intelligence to them." he said as he moved further down the rows.
He spotted another Torquehelm ace and thought it would be wrong to eat someone from your own realm... so something else would be best thing to do. Then he spotted one that was watching what they were doing. It seemed curious and different then the others. In those eyes he saw some resemblance to intelligence.
It was a Morganberry doe (Deer). She looked good and in good shape... so she was probably something worth quite a bit of money. He gave smile and turned to Nell "That one... she will do quite well." he llooked back at the cage once more and approached it and wondered if Nell could pick the lock or not... and how hard it would be to steel away this doe.

Nellwyn felt her eyebrows go up a bit. So he wanted to eat an intelligent Ace? Oho, that was even better! Killing things that knew what was going on was always so much more fun. She just nodded and watched him walk along the cages. Her tail twitched and she grinned at a few of the Aces, who cowered a bit away from her. She wasn't surprised. She knew how the creatures were treated. It didn't really bother her in the least, at least not right now, while the monster reigned supreme.
When Menefer called out, Nellwyn walked over, steps sure and unhurried over the cracked floor. "Have you then?" she muttered, looking over the Deer. Morganberries tended to be annoying creatures...in fact, Scrooge was part Morganberry, too. So she had no qualms whatsoever about killing and eating one. She glanced down at the creature's chest, and saw that it was a Heart.
Perfect.
She examined the lock for a moment, popped her claws out, and picked it quickly. The Deer looked up at them with wide Doe-eyes, and a glimmer of faint hope shone in them, possibly for the first time in years. "You help me?" she asked, in quiet, broken common. "Get me out from here?" Nellwyn smiled at the Deer, and pulled the door open.

Menefer stepped up next to Nellwyn and waited for a second as the doors lock was opened with quick precision. he was rather exited about this... seeing her picking the look on the door exited him as much watching someone make a new cake that he hadn't attempted yet. He knew he wouldn't be as deft at this as she, but he could learn some other things from her if he was lucky enough. Things that he himself would not have ever thought of before doing.
Once the door opened he reached out a kind paw and waited for a second before taking to the deer, "If you want out of here for ever then come with us quickly, I swear where you'll be going is much better then here." he said as he gave her a warm smile. Even though it was a Ace it still required some niceness. He gazed at Nellwyn and gave her the same smile... but something flashed in his eyes... an excitement of animal proportions.

Nellwyn returned Menefer's smile with one of her own, and was quiet for once. After all, this was his show. Though he may not know it, this was, to her, a test to see if he really had changed, freeing enough of his darker side to actually make him of some interest to her other than just as a conquest whose heart she was going to enjoy breaking. She eyed the Deer with a rather twisted sort of smile, but the creature didn't even seem to notice.
The Deer gasped and stumbled her way out of the cage. "Oh, thanks you Sir and Miss! Thanks you!" she said, large eyes wide. She looked prepared to follow them as best she could, but she was weak from so long in that cage on few rations. Nellwyn eyed her for a moment.
"Menefer, dear, help support her on the way back up, would you? Also, we need to be quiet. The owner is asleep, not deaf," she said, and turned to go up the stairs. This was hardly a proper place to hang around and kill the Ace, especially if the Torque ever wanted to come back for more. She knew where they could take it, unless Menefer had a better idea.
The Deer nodded. She was used to being quiet, anyway. Most Cards didn't like Aces that could talk, and so she usually didn't bother. But these two didn't seem to mind it, right? She waited for the Torque Feline to help her up the stairs after the Tulgey.

Menefer had found it quite hard that he could talk and be kind to this ace without feeling sorry for it. After all he was going to end up eating it later... was it wrong to think that it would be nice to treat it kindly and then kill it? He shrugged off the notion and moved on with helping her up stairs after Nellwyn.
He wondered what would be best to cook the ace in... would a stew work? A nice roast or something primitive like being spitted over a fire? He couldn't quite figure it out really... it was just that there was soo much on his mind on how to cook her that he wasn't really paying attention when he was escorting her up the stairs.
He hadn't ment to do so, it was just reflex as he reached out to grab the railing when he felt her slip. She fell into a heap on the stairs and Menfer couldn't help but feel pitty for the ace. Well even with nice owners she wouldn't have a good life... so killing her would be the best thing to do for her after all.
"Come now... it's all right, ease up and i'll help you, I hadn't ment for you to slip and fall... come... its all better once we leave this place." he said as he started to notice some of the other aces starting to notice what they were doing. He didn't want to cause a riot and he knew full well that they might start a ruccus. Even a ace knew how to get someone off their back by giving their master something else to punish.
"Hurry now, we must hurry." he said as he gazed up at Nellwyn with sorry eyes. he hadn't ment for this to happen... if the damned ace hadn't slipped then they might not have woken the others to what they were doing.

The Deer let out a small cry of fear as she fell, not having expected it either, and Nellwyn jumped back with a hiss. Her mouth twitched into a frown, and she glared at both of her current companions, if they could even be called as such. That was going to blow their cover, sure enough. Again, as she'd stated, the master of the house wasn't deaf.
Some of the dumber Aces in the cellar started to whine and make noise, while most of the smarter ones kept quiet. After all, if there was hope for the Deer, maybe someone would come back for them. The Deer looked up at the two Felines, eyes wide and filled with frightened tears. "So sorry," she choked out in a whisper, as she tried to regain her hooves. But she seemed to be having a bit of trouble from the malnourishment and weakness that came from never moving out of her own cage.
"A little faster, if you please," Nellwyn hissed quietly, and used an ability on the girl. Suddenly, the Deer's eyes went blank. She picked herself up through a method that should have been painful, but she made no sound of protest. And she began to walk up the stairs, quickly and quietly.
Meanwhile, there were still a lot of Aces in the basement making noise. Nellwyn desperately wished for a way to shut them all up.
Powerful Magical Ability: When activated, she can control the mind of a lesser Heart for up to one hour, once per week. The individual being controlled is aware of the goings on, though they won't know who is possessing them, and the effect would be seamless if they didn't speak with her voice while she's in control...

Menefer was surprised when the doe just stood up and started to walk as if she wasn't fatigued at all. He gave her a encouraged smile and followed up just as quickly as she was, after all it wouldn't be good if she fell again. Bruised muscle just never tasted right.
Once at the top of the stairs did he grab ahold of one of the doors and let it down as quickly but quietly as possible. Once that was down did he move to the other and do the same as well and quickly locked it back and rushed to catch up with Nellwyn and their meal. that made him think... he was about to eat someone...
oh well... he had to show that he could be strong and go through with what he said he would. He had dedicated himself to this, and wouldn't let anything get in the way of it. Not even if he had to take her life himself. Which... turned his gut more than the fact that he was thinking about eating her. That made him gag aloud as he closed his eyes for a second.
"Sorry... had a bad thought... where are we going Nel?" he said not using her name just in case the doe ran off and told someone that she was saved by two felines.

Congratulations on hitting 101 posts!
You've each found one of the following:
Tome of Blood: This tiny book appears to have bits of a spell enclosed...looks like you would need six volumes to complete the spell...how odd, I wonder what it does?

They reached the doors, which Menefer helpfully opened. Nellwyn used the spell to command the Deer to leap out, which it did, landing silently on the grass outside. The Tulgey followed, and helped Menefer close the doors behind them herself. Her fluffy tail twitched in thought as she waited for him, and then turned to continue. She knew where they could go to kill the Deer, which was the first thing to be done. But...she paused as her boyfriend made a gagging sound. She gave him a questioning look. What was -that- about?
But she didn't say anything to it. "Somewhere to catch our breath," she said, and then winked to Menefer. The Deer walked silently behind them as they trudged across the lawn and made it to the fence, and not a moment to soon; a light turned on in one of the upper windows as they made their escape, and sounds of thumping could be heard.
Nellwyn led them out through the street, holding herself as casually as if they were a couple out for an evening stroll with their pet. Finally, she ducked into an alley between two offices, quiet now that it was late at night. The Deer mindlessly followed.
