Mrs. White noticed, for a second, the disdain in Menefer's posture, and sudden anger flared up in her. Oh, if he refused to buy this necklace for her...her darker nature readily supplied all the possible endings to that threat, and the claws of one of her paws started to unsheathe, a slight gleam appearing in her pink eyes...and then, in the next moment, he was paying the vendor, and coming towards her with the necklace so quick that she was thrown a bit off guard.
As the cool silver fell across her neck, a large smile spread on her face, showing gleaming teeth. "Oh...thank you so much, Menefer, dear!" she positively purred, bumping her head against his affectionately. Inside, her mind was still whirling with confusion, the intense adrenaline rush and blood lust she'd built up in the moment of uncertainly having no outlet. But Mrs. White was master at controlling her feelings and not showing them, and she had what she wanted after all, didn't she?
Greatly daring, she nuzzled Menefer's cheek, and the kissed him, quickly, a burning, feverish, impulsive thing. He tasted, she thought, of some sort of spice that she always smelled in his fur...various things from cooking. Was it sage, or nutmeg? Or perhaps a combination of the two?

He had expected something when he had clasped the necklace made of silver about her neck, but what she had given him made him stand still for quite some time. He was slightly stunned at all the affection that she had bestowed upon him. So much that he stood their and was bumped into a few times at other people moving about the streets. Though he quickly came out of it when someone had said something directly to him, he could have sworn it was Nel... or it may have been some other random person moving about the busy market.
Anyways... once all back together did he finally break his smile out to its fullest and return the favor with a gentle kiss on her check. "Anything for you my sweet flower." he said aloud as he pulled away from her, no longer worrying about how much he was going to have to work after this day. It didn't matter no more, today had already shaped up to be a great day.
"What now, Nel?" he said as he came up beside her. He hoped that they wouldn't be going out to eat... after all... he was a cook and always found something the matter with everyones cooking. Something was always off... too much spice, not enough salt... to little flour, or someone that didn't have a half a whit as a Ace that burnt the meat on one side. Either way though... he was still going to do what she asked, so long as he could get that sort of affection from her again.

After Mrs. White pulled back, she was rather amused to see that Menefer was completely stunned by her actions. It took her only a minute to decide that it was a good kind of stunned. A very good kind. Her tail swished as she watched him for a moment, standing and staring off into space with a glazed look in his eyes while the Cards around him jostled and bumped. Mrs. White kept her fluffy white tail held up away from the crowd, and one paw idly played with her necklace. Finally, she said, "Menefer dear~ Are you still with us?" Teasingly, she grinned, and saw to her delight that it was her own words that had snapped him out of it.
She tilted her head as he returned the kiss, her purr increasing to an audible level even in the busy street as her inner voice was, for once, content as well--after all, her kiss had seared away all the layers of hesitence she'd seen in the Torque a moment before, and left only a burning eagerness and desire. Desire for -her-. Yes...that was exactly what she wanted to see in Menefer's eyes. And just what she wanted to hear. He'd do anything for her. It was what any sensible man said to the woman he was dating, but she had the feeling that from Menefer, it was no empty promise.
She gently pulled him a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the crowd so they could talk, tail held in the air. "Now...well...we could eat out...or..." she began, with a mock-thoughtful look, and eyed him for his reaction. She drew out the suspense for a moment more. "Or we could eat -in-. I mean, if you don't mind cooking. You don't mind...do you?" She turned to give him an anxious look, though she already knew what his answer was going to be. She was going to add something about finding somewhere more private, perhaps with a saucy wink, but she felt that would be laying it on a little thick. Especially as she was playing the part of 'partially emotionally unavailable' because she was so distraught still over the loss of her husband. Peh. She almost regretted going for such a sappy line. She'd have to work twice as hard to get things to move at a decent speed, now. Not that she wanted -that-, persay, not with -him-...at least not yet.
But it could be fun, Nellwyn argued. Think of all the mental games we could play...think of what we could get away with!

He wasn't really inspecting that she was going to pull him off to the side where the sound was muffled by the wall that stood before them and the street. He felt just how close that the two of them were, almost alone save for the rather drunk guy further down the ally way. His tail was in the air and lazily moving about as in pleasure. He wanted to do whatever that she had asked for and now she was suggesting to eat out some where... he sighed with disdain for the very idea... it was like asking someone to use their tools instead of your own... being that they are the same thing.
He was relived though that she would rather eat in... that would save him quite a sum of money if that is what she wanted to do now. Suits, the more expensive things were further into the market and so he was rather glad that she didn't want to do anything else. So he smiled and came up and rubbed his face against hers in affection.
"Yes that sounds absolutely wonderful. Though I need a new frying pan though..." he said as he sorta looked away... his old one had a crack in it and was no longer any good... the head chef at the Hotel had thrown his against the wall, saying that the fish that he was cooking had no flavor at all. That had made him soo mad... that... that... he did nothing. Why did he have to be like this? Such a push over that anyone could take an advantage over him if they had the stronger will? He looked up to Nellwyn... atleast she never treated him like that, she cared for him.
The thought of it all had crossed his face, but once he realized it did he try his best to cover it up as if it never had happened. He put the same smile up on his face, "I'm sorry, bad memory... Umm yes eating in sounds wonderful... anything you would like?" he said with brief pauses as he slowly took breaths to regain his composure.

Menefer's little bump of affection distracted her from her inner thoughts...which annoyed her for a moment, until she regained control of herself, and caged her darker side again. She smiled back at him, even as he turned away. He still had enough money for a good quality frying pan left? She was half tempted to persuade him to spend the rest on her, and screw the frying pans. But no, the cool weight of the necklace around her neck reminded her that she'd already established her dominance over his money purse. Too much and he might start to think she was doing it on purpose, manipulating him for the fun of it, and she just couldn't have him suspecting such a thing. That would ruin the whole game.
She shook out of her thoughts, mild blinking the only indication that they'd ever been there in the first place, and found Menefer with the most deliciously distressed expression on his face. Just seeing it made lovely little shivers run down her back, but what had caused it? She had to know. She burned with curiosity, and she forced her face into a solicitous expression. "Oh...Menefer, dear...I know just what that's like," she said with a sigh, hoping he'd fall for it. Needing him to. The pain was so sweet. "Please...if you need to talk about it...tell me," she begged, her paw finding his. She couldn't even properly think about food, right then. With all the happiness she'd been feeling that day, it had been nothing compared to the ecstasy of seeing that sorrow in his eyes.
It will be better yet when it is the sorrow I have caused him.

He looked up at her and smiled, trying to hide the pain that he felt at being humiliated in the past. There wasn't a day that that head chef had tried to get him fired, or make him want to quit... but he was just too submissive to do anything about it. Well at least he could vent a bit right? She did ask, so he wouldn't not tell her.
"Well... the head chef Maxi is a shrewed man that thinks he is the best cook ever!" he said with a bit of venom in his voice... oh how he hated that man. "The nerve of the man to tell another chef that his cooking is inadiquit to his... His cooking could be ranked as Ace of Clubs Lowlander!" he said with a bit of rage as he slammed his paw against the brick wall, making the pain shoot through him as he brought it back noticing that he had cut his paw pretty bad...
"Oh dear... that hurt more than I had thought." he said as the rage left his body and was replaced with pain as the blood dripped a bit to the ground. He sat on his haunches and looked at it for a long moment, letting the rage that he had pint up for so long ebb out of him... no one should be told they couldn't cook... it wasn't right nor fair... He lived for cooking after all, nothing would change that fact. It was just soo hard to find a chef position in this town when the head chef keeps making you look like a fool.
"I'm sorry... I... lost control." he said as he placed his paw back on the ground bringing it up with a sharp cry. "Ouch! I think I may have broken something" he said with grief and pain across his face.

Mrs. White stared at Menefer as he began to rant. She'd never, ever have believed it. Was this sweet, docile seeming Feline actually capable of hate? She was in awe over it. Pink eyes stared and her mouth was a bit agape as Menefer was angry enough to punch the wall. Such a barbaric way of expressing frustration...after all, the wall wasn't what he was really mad at, was it? He'd felt the punch more than it had. The smell of blood made her eyes glaze a little and she turned to see her would-be boyfriend's injured paw.
"Menefer," she said in a low voice, and then forced herself back in control. Her glee at seeing him bleed was forced inward, and she put on the mask of worry. "Oh, oh dear! How hurt is it? Can you walk?" She moved closer to him, tongue flicking out briefly to lick her lips in a nervous gesture she couldn't quite suppress. "Dear...let's just get to your home, all right?" she cooed, nuzzling him. "Then we can eat and perhaps bandage that up..." Her paws itched to dip in the blood and paint it across his dark fur. Wouldn't it look marvelous?
His whole body..covered in blood...bleeding out, dying and in pain...and I wouldn't help him. He'd realize in his last moments than I had betrayed him and...
"Menefer...don't apologize, dear...it happens to all of us," the Tulgey assured him, though she had to make sure it never happened to her, Not around him, nor around McDuck. She couldn't afford it...yet. She sidled closer, offering him her shoulder. "You know, that chef has no right to say those things to you," she assured him, because she wanted to see that fascinating hate again. Perhaps put it to a more productive use than punching walls.

He looked up at her, compassion in his eyes showing that he thought the world of her. He couldn't think of anywhere else but here to be with her, even if it had meant to punch a thousand walls til he had only but a nub left at his shoulder. Things with her just seemed better, all white in his dark present, hoping all the while for a beautiful bright future...
If only he knew her true thoughts... he would be frightened and awed at the same time, to even know of that sort of evil that existed in the world was something of awe to him. He wouldn't have any choice but to be with her, especially with the power that he had, one that he would never tell her about. It would make their relationship grand, even if he was just to be a puppet... so long as he was loved.
"I think it will be alright..." he said as he accidentally jerked his injured paw as she got closer, afraid of her touching it and making it worse. Though she did mention to get it bandaged... so that meant that she knew something of bandaging wounds, right? "Well I think I can make it back to the apartment... though I have to warn you... I have a few things drying out at the moment." he said with a bit of laughter, trying to lighten up the mood a bit.
When she had mentioned the head chef at the hotel did he flinch a bit. He really did dislike the guy, though not really to the part of giving what the card actually deserved, but enough to sabotage if he could. He looked down towards the ground as he walked... "Yes... It is wrong, but... maybe he is right? right?" he asked as he turned to her, hopping on three paws and a lame leg.

Mrs. White was a little antsy to think of the blood trail they'd leave...she made sure to walk so the pads of her back feet touched the blood spots, carrying them with her, although that beautiful blood would be quite ruined by the dust of the road by the time they got back to Menefer's living space. She also made sure to make it look like it was an accidental thing. She kept close to him as they walked, in case he started to fall...she could push him all the way down.
Shaking her head, a quiet reprimand to herself, the Feline gave a girlish giggle as Menefer made mention of things he had laying around. "Weren't you expecting company, my dear?" she purred at him, feeling the blood stick to her back paw. She wasn't sure why she couldn't just leave it be. This dating thing seemed to be messing with hr ability to tell her two selves apart...oh, that was bad. Mustn't let the mask slip just yet. She changed up her walking to keep out of the blood.
The mere flash of anger Menefer showed this time before slipping into self-doubt was...annoying to say the least. But perhaps it was for the best? After all, was it not her darker nature that longed for him to seek revenge? But if she nudged him toward it gently...oh my, she really was confused! Well, at least she still knew what to say. She had to be sweet, and a little dull, like always.
"No!" she told him firmly. "You're a wonderful cook. That other man is probably just jealous of you!" She blinked and lowered her head, as if a bit ashamed. "Oh dear, I am sorry...I shouldn't make such assumptions. Maybe he's just a tad insecure himself?" We could fix that. The dead feel no self regret.

Menefer hadn't realized what she was doing, he thought to himself that she was just making sure to stick close to him if in case that he happened to fall, which for the good of him hadn't happened just yet. So the trip wasn't so bad back to the hotel that he cooked and lived in. He did however speak a bit more on behalf of himself and that of the other man.
"Well... yea... I was hoping, but I didn't realize that we may be returning back to my place..." he said as he blushed, making him trip up a bit, but he caught himself and continued to walk. "Its just... some fresh herbs that I have drying on the window seal so I hope you like the smell of rosemarry and sage." he said as he cracked a grin through the pain that he was feeling in his paw, which was throbbing in a horrible way that made a slight ringing in his ears.
Though when she mentioned the cook again... he got a bit disappointed. "Well... he achieved his human state not to long ago... and he flaunts it over his success of cooking, claiming that it was all his doing that made him the way he is today... I think that he asked some voodoo woman or something to help him with his transformation..." he said as he hated the fact that he was still in his animal form. Hadn't he done enough yet? To get that level of achievement? He hoped that he would, oh suits he hoped.
He looked up and noticed that they were already here. He looked down at his pawn and realized that it was still oozing a bit. Oh how he would get fired if they knew it was his blood on the white carpets... that would end his career in a heart beat. "Umm... Nel... do you know a way to staunch this wound? I don't want to lose my job." he said a bit embarrassed about the whole situation.
