Your Highness Kushrenada,
We have received you letter here and I would like to express my interest in your organization. The mission statement for the Sprouts is one that I feel passionately about.
I have had the privilege of working in the Court of Hearts as a Guard for nearly thirteen years and teaching self defense on the side for roughly five. I have no credentials from an establish educational institution, but upon request can procure letters of recommendation from private tutors. I have taught mostly young women and children, but I have been given the task of training several of the newer recruits and have been trusted with the care of children of some of the Nobles when time allows. I also have a wealth of experience working with a diversity of people and children, especially with the special needs of those of Raemblen Bog descent.
I would be honored to hear back from you. I await you letter and am willing to talk on your terms, including any travel you may wish for me to do.
Thank you, Alaster

Dear Alaster,
I am overjoyed to learn of your interest in the Sprouts, and your proactive approach toward the fledgling organization. Many individuals are willing to support a cause, but far fewer are the men and women stepping up to the plate and participating.
Your experience and credentials are impressive, especially for a suit as naturally talented in the martial arts as Hearts. While I am currently raising a young girl as my ward, I am generally unfamiliar with the attitudes and expectations of children. Potentially working with someone who has spent more time with younger members of the Court of Hearts will be to this organization's benefit.
It would be my pleasure to visit you in the palace of Hearts. I have not visited the Highlands in several years and could combine the trip with an overdue vacation. Provided that you do not take offense at the presence of my ward, a young bat by the name of Mirriam, I would enjoy the trip. Information on possible dates and times is enclosed.
Best Regards, Khushrenada

[sorry for the crappiness. My muse finally comes back after several days, I write a post and then the internet eats it. >> Also, small edit to the first post. Alaster would never forget a title. XD He's just like that.]
Alaster was delighted to receive a letter back. He talked to Pale about it, asking if having a noble from another court come to visit wouldn't be a problem, and was promptly teased (again) for being overly formal. He sent back a letter to Kushrenada stating which days and times would work and that not only would Mirriam's presence be inoffensive, but there were plenty of children who would be happy to occupy her time during their visit.
[assuming they came to an agreement of days and time...]
Alaster spent the day preparing for His Highness' arrival. He was set to arrive in the afternoon which gave plenty of time for Alaster to partake in his daily exercise and then sun himself in the garden. He did so near a pond, alternating between sunning himself and dipping his feet in the pond when he thought no one was looking. Sometimes is was awkward being a hybrid of Reptile and Water Fowl.
His guests were scheduled to arrive soon, so he made sure he was properly dry and moved himself closer to the front gate to be ready to greet them.

Khushrenada hadn't been to the palace of Hearts in... a long time. Decades. The palace had been under the rule of Queen Serafino at the time, a young Highlander with strong opinions and a legendary temper. Apparently the current Queen was the daughter of one of the man's Kings. Even though she wasn't from the Highlands, it fascinated him how they managed to 'keep it in the family' anyway.
Traveling with Mirriam was always a combination of pleasure and trial-by-question. At least she was amenable to games. Having her count the number of yellow flowers they passed on the road worked for a short time, and then there were other little things he could do to amuse them both. She enjoyed stories, which suited him well. He had plenty of odd little tales from his campaigning.
When they finally arrived, he handed the scant luggage to an approaching attendant and told his charge that she could run off to play with the Heart children as soon as he found a servant to assign her to. Their host would doubtless assist with that.
