She sat at her usual restaurant, nursing the same cup of coffee she had been for an hour. For whatever reason they let her do it, she was grateful. It gave her a chance to watch people as they made their ways to nowhere. Peaches still had quite a lot of paperwork to do when she went back to the palace. But for now she needed a break. The new shift of power had been unexpected, and best of all it was her daughter in charge now. It was frightening. So she decided to escape reality, at least for now, and watch the people who strolled by. Her eyes drifted to something brightly colored. A bird. A corvid? Oh and was that a heart on her chest? The woman smirked. Maybe she could have a little fun today? Something to distract her from the notion of "getting old" as several kind people had put it. "Excuse me, Ma'am? You, the pretty bird with fangs. Could you come over here for a moment?" Peaches called out. It was a ridiculous sort of thing to do, but didn't phase the woman in the slightest.

Though it had been posed as a question, Suha knew an order when she heard it, and she did not care to be bossed around. On any other occasion she would have--politely--declined the "invitation," but as it had been issued by a human, no matter that she couldn't tell what rank, she thought it best to comply for the time being. The form usually denoted some no small measure of power, and she did feel rather curious about what the woman might be wanting, besides. So she took her chai latte and trailed over to the woman's table with a polite, vaguely curious expression on her face, "You wanted something, miss?" Hopefully, whatever this was about, the meeting wasn't a complete waste of time. Suha really did hate wasting her time--so many things to do, after all. If she ever hoped to accomplish anything, she had to be very goal-oriented.

Oh she was polite. That was nice. She was a Morganberry though. You could never tell what that region was plotting. "Oh yes, I couldn't help but notice that you were a high ranking Heart. Take a seat would you?" Peaches gave the woman a bright award winning smile, pulling the seat out for her.
Clearly it wasn't an option. And Peaches was bored, which generally meant that someone was going to be bothered one way or another. This way, at least, she could be a bit productive? Probably not. "I forgot to introduce myself," she said absently look at the woman. "I'm Peaches. It's nice to meet you. Anyway, though, you look like a type who has her head on straight. Perhaps you could help a little confused Jack like me out? I've been up to my neck in paperwork these days and I can't make heads or tails of much."

Suha couldn't help the incredulous expression that slipped onto her features, not quite believing what she was hearing. Where did this woman think they were--primary school? Where she could bully and/or bribe brighter, cleverer students into writing her essays and doing her multiplication tables? Suha was not impressed, but she sat anyway, and considered the woman.
The entire situation was incredibly odd, and Suha couldn't help but wonder if the woman was a little unhinged. Still--the woman was a jack, and presumably a Heart. Perhaps she was involved in the courts to some degree? The thought of someone as undisciplined and spacey as this woman actually being allowed into a position of power was sickening, but--
"What kind of paperwork, miss?" It was probably worthless to pursue--likely the woman would give her a stack of inventory lists to sort through, or something similar--but it wouldn't hurt to see.

Peaches gave a small chuckle as she took a sip of her tea. She set it down carefully, running her finger along the edge of the china. The woman was more than a little unhinged, but half the time being a space cadet was an act. Most of the time when she did something stupid or rude she knew that it was as such. It was just enjoyable to watch people's reactions, and the bird was proving to be entertaining. "Oh this has nothing to do with paperwork. I'll eventually have to dig myself out of that mess. This has to do with a matter of taste."
It was brief, but a wicked grin flashed across the woman's face. She went back to her normal smirk as she resumed to explain what she had in mind. "I, unfortunately, have very bad taste in just about everything. So I've run into a little road block as far as someone's birthday is concerned. You seem like a woman who has a taste in high class society politics, so I thought you could help me out. Of course, I would give you something in return as not to waste your time."
She gave a small shrug. "What would you get the most powerful woman in the world?"

Suha considered the woman carefully, not entirely sure how the amount of paperwork required of the woman's position related to her gift-giving abilities, but enjoying the possibilities the situation presented her.
The rather strange woman sitting across from her certainly would not consider giving a gift to this "most powerful woman in the world" unless they were in some way acquainted, and since it had been made apparent that Peaches--such an uncouth thing to name a child--was involved in the courts to some degree, this unnamed woman must be one of the queens. Maybe even the Queen.
Suha nodded in sympathy, "I can see your conundrum. A powerful woman would want for very little, I imagine." She took a sip of her latte, poised in thought. "I would first suggest you consider the nature of your relationship to this woman, as it would strongly dictate the nature of the gift. Also, your reasons for giving it."

Peaches sipped on her own drink as she listened to the bird. She seemed quite interesting. Physically to begin with, and mentally too boot. Perhaps that was just because she was a Morganberry? Honestly it wasn't like she met all that many, but most of the stereotypes did hold true.
"The relationship?" Peaches said with a tilt of her head. She set down her drink again and poured a bit of sugar in cup. She concentrated on stirring it before actually replying. "Well, she's my daughter. And we stopped having anything in comment after she turned eighteen. I think that was the last successful gift I ever gave her."
The woman tapped her spoon on the side of her cup. "Do you think you can help me?" Even if she couldn't this was rather entertaining. When was the last time she had had the chance to pester some random stranger?

Suha frowned, beginning to feel vaguely irritated with the entire affair; she was only being given one piece of the larger picture, and there was very little she could accomplish without being told pertinent information. And an estranged (or so she assumed) daughter was an entirely different creature than gifting a power woman whose attention and/or goodwill you wished to sway. Daughters were much trickier in handling.
And Suha couldn’t help but feel vaguely disquieted about a woman who presented such a private predicament to a stranger. A hypothetical question was one thing, but familial matters were—different—and as much as Suha had wanted to use the situation presented to net herself some favor within the court, a prevailing sense of self-preservation kept her from embroiling herself in familial conflicts.
“Peaches. I’m afraid only you truly know what would be an appropriate gift for your daughter, and for that I would not be of much help.” Suha said this very regretfully.

Peaches actually refrained from rolling her eyes as the bird spoke to her.
What a wonderfully boring answer.
Peaches propped her chin on her palm as her eyes locked on the bird. Her expression was fairly blank. "Fun as a bag or rocks with no sense of humor to speak of," She said as a Cheshire cat sized grin spread across her face. "Quite honestly I'm sure you have more in common with my daughter than me. But if you choose not to help because of stepping on the toes of someone you don't know that's the perfectly sensible thing to do. Sensibility and and a few coldly calculate risks is the way to go if you want to blend into the courts."
She shrugged. Now completely bored of the conversation. "Though I imagine unless you decided a thong was a good present you'd probably at least have a bit of good favor coming your way. Oh well." She took a drink of her tea.
(( OOC: <3 if you want that's fine. ))

Suha quirked a brow; apparently, this Peaches woman had some sort of psychic ability, to know so precisely what Suha had been thinking; it certainly hadn't shown on her face, as Suha was very good at schooling her expression. She would have to guard her thoughts carefully from now on; react on instinct, rather than after careful consideration.
"Madame, I have very little idea what you're trying to suggest, but if it is a recommendation you are looking for, I would suggest you give your daughter the decency of an original thought and put some actual consideration behind your gift-giving, rather than thrusting the mission off on a random stranger."
Suha stood with a huff; she'd had enough. This woman was jerking off, nothing more, and if she honestly cared about her daughter, she wouldn't be sitting here baiting a stranger who had been nothing but polite.
"Good day, madame." Favor be damned; she'd take her chances.
((And, fin.))
