So, everyone loves dead things. Well, I love dead things and so do the Capuchin Monks.
During the Italian Renaissance there were outbreaks of the nasty old plague. And sometimes they had no idea where to put all the bodies. So the Capuchin Monks (yes, the cappuccino is named after them) came up with a solution.
They created a lovely set of crypts using the bones of over 4,000 monks, with a theme for each room.

They also have skeletons that represent traditional angels (not the fluffy winged ones that look like people, that's the later Renaissance's fault):

and my personal favorite is the full skeleton of a child representing the grim reaper:

There is also a room dedicated to a mummified heart of a lovely young noble woman who wanted to dedicate a part of her body to the monks when she died. Her patron father and the monks kindly took her heart once she passed away. Unfortunately no one ever takes pictures of that room because there are no bones.
And this is a small thing I learned in Art history. <3 Going to a non traditional school pays off.
