His entire posture already held his answer to the query before he even got close enough to speak to the other children. His tail dragged along the ground, no longer wagging, and his ears were flattened, and he just seemed to press himself low to the ground as he walked. He did shoot up a hopeful glance, to see if Castiel or Connall had found anything...and felt his heart sink more. The answer was obvious. It was written all over their youthful faces, and it was this, even more than the distinct lack of a brown-and-blue form, that told Arkady the sad truth.
Laika was not in the garden. Part of him felt like it was silly to even have looked here in the first place, but his sister had to be somewhere, and if she wasn't in their room, well...
He shook his head sadly, looking up at Connall. Then his gaze turned towards Castiel, looking somewhat apologetic. A nice, energetic girl like her probably had far better things to do than to help him look for his missing twin sister. But he definitely appreciated their help all the same.
"Should we...check the kitchen, now?" he suggested hesitantly, eyes darting back and forth between the faces of the other children.

Castiel was still as bright as ever, as she bounced on her heals slightly, waiting for someone to say something. When the boy asked the question to the pair of children she nodded rather emphatically. "The kitchen sounds like the best course of action!" she said brightly.
Conall was hardly surprised by her reaction, but he moved a bit further away from her. Just in case she swung her arms wide or something. As long as he had been watching her in that creepy stalker-ish fashion that he had he had noticed that she tended to talk with her whole body.
He nodded in agreement with the assessment. Though he wasn't particularly sure about going into the kitchen at this time of day. Normally he was shooed out of the kitchen by someone when he tried to sneak in for some sort of snack. The smell he gave off didn't help him much, really.
Without another word Castiel turned on her heal to lead the party to the kitchen. Clearly she enjoyed playing the leader.

A very small smile graced Arkady's muzzle at the fact that Castiel was still so cheerful. Her good mood really was rather infectious, and he raised his head slightly, though his tail still drooped. He noticed Connall backing up, and had no idea why until he saw the way the girl spread her arms as she spoke. Did the two know each other before today? It hadn't seemed like it, since Connall had introduced himself to both of them at the same time...
Brushing the thought out of his mind, Ark trotted along behind Castiel, more than happy for her to take the lead. He wasn't a leader; never would be. He was just there to protect and to watch over...something which he'd failed at entirely today. An ear went back, making his expression sort of a lop-sided downcast one, and he sniffed the ground, trying to pick up that familiar scent that would mean his twin among all the others that perfumed the hall ways. The strongest at the moment being the scent of that unfortunate Bog boy.

With the strong smell of the bog boy, roses and the faint smell of foreign flowers on the girl it would probably be difficult to find the scent if it was fresh. Both Castiel and Conall were oblivious to the fact that the boy was trying to sniff his twin sister out. Really, if Conall had noticed he probably would have been terribly embarrassed.
He was still rather twitchy about being sociable.
Castiel bounced in front of the pack, happily making her way as the leader. She enjoyed being the one in charge. Sometimes her sister, despite being so nice all the time, was a bit bossy when it came to what they were "supposed" to do. Of course this was just from the little girl's perspective. In reality most of the time the siblings got along well.
"Do you think they're busy right now?" she asked no one in particular.
Conall's ears flattened against his head as he glanced at the bother boy. Was he supposed to respond to it or...? Socializing was difficult, and he didn't know who the girl was talking to. Perhaps he should just assume she was addressing Arkady.

When he'd established his nose couldn't possibly pick up anything useful right now, Arkady's ears went back and he lifted his head, trying to speed up his steps a bit to more match Castiel's bouncing gait, and trying, above all, not to trip over his large puppy paws again. One embarrassment was quite enough for one day! Especially when it was already a bad one. Shaking his fur to rid it of the few thorns and leaves in it, though most of them still clung to him after this action, Ark thought of his sister, and how worried she probably was without him there to protect her...
The question nearly made him pause, and he had to leap forward to avoid falling out of sync with his walking. He glanced to Connall, but the other boy was looking right at him and apparently expected him to answer. He swallowed, preparing to try and do this whole 'casual conversation with near strangers' thing.
"W-well, they probably are, considering they just served lunch," he reasoned, eyes darting to the floor nervously. "So they're...cleaning up, and such, I bet."

Castiel tilted her head to once side as the boy spoke. They weren't that far away from the kitchen, and she could hear the faint sounds of some of the servants talking. He was probably right. Should they even attempt to bother the staff inside the kitchen though? Maybe they could catch someone going out?
"I wonder if the nice lady is working today," she commented as she took the corner.
Conall was at a loss, but he continued to keep pace with the other children. She seemed terribly energetic so he might as well just keep playing along. No point in dampening the situation by excusing himself just so he could not have to be in a social situation. The bird on his shoulder fluttered every so often. He was terribly surprised that neither of the children had asked about that.
They came to the back entrance to the kitchen, and Castiel actually hesitated, looking at both of the boys.

Arkady's ears twitched, also picking up the distinct noises of all the servants and cooks milling about. It was a familiar noise, though, and almost comforting. How often had he and his sister come down here at times like this, to try and get dinner when they'd been forgotten in the rush? He blinked at Castiel, but wasn't able to really answer, because he had no idea who 'the nice lady' was...well, unless it was Betty! She was very nice, and always gave he and Laika treats. He liked her a lot.
The weird robin on Conall's shoulder didn't get noticed simply because there was so much other weird and creepy about the boy that a small thing like that got overlooked. Especially since Arkady was just too worried about his sister to make note of every detail, like he usually would. When the human girl stopped in front of the doors, he moved toward her, and gently pressed his cold nose onto her hand. "It's okay, Castiel...y-you can go in...they know m-me and Laika here!" His tail wagged once, briefly, trying to reassure her.

Castiel had been told on numerous occasions that she wasn't supposed to go to the kitchen unless he had an adult with her. It was mostly because of her sibling, Kamina. The sibling that she had never met, because apparently she was extremely poisonous to all Yarrows.
The boy's nose on her hand though, was enough to make her forget about the various warnings she had gotten from her father. "Okay," she said as she slipped open the door. Her heat was pounding in her chest as she looked around.
No one seemed to notice her, and there wasn't poison anywhere that she could see. A sigh of relief escaped the girl. Though, she didn't see the boy's sibling anywhere either.
Conall waited until both the children where through the kitchen door before entering himself. He didn't want the run the risk of bumping into them. He slipped in quietly behind them, taking notice of how busy everyone seemed to be, and how out of place they were.

Arkady looked up at Castiel, very confused about what was making the normally confident girl so...hesitant to enter the kitchen. Of course, he was far too young to have yet learned all the intricacies of the regions, even though he had a Bog Mother and part-Bog siblings. He just plain didn't know about why Yarrows and Bogs might need to be careful around each other. If he had known, he might have been obsessively checking to make sure Conall and Castiel weren't standing to close to each other every few seconds, so his lack of knowledge was probably a good thing.
In direct contrast to the nervous little girl and the socially awkward Bog boy, Ark held himself a little taller in here. He felt safe here, in the familiarity of it all, even when it was busy. Even though he only ever spoke to a handful of the servants here. Noting Castiel's continued nervousness, he stepped half in front of her, protectively, like a flanking bodyguard. But as his eyes scanned the kitchen, and he still caught no sign of his sister...he whimpered softly, posture drooping a bit. This search just wasn't going well, and worse yet, he had no idea where to look next. He send a pleading look to Castiel, practically begging her to take the lead again.

Castiel caught the glance from the boy. The look was enough to make her take action. Wordlessly she walked over to the nearest adult and tugged on their leg. She had a rather brief conversation with one of them before returning to the group. She shook her head, "He said that he hasn't seen any children in the kitchen today, so I don't think your sister is around here. We could ask all of the adults but... it'd probably be useless. Maybe we should try some place else?"
They seemed to be running out of options.
Conall frowned, the bird on his shoulder sitting rather still. He crossed his arms as he glanced around the kitchen. Even if the girl had come in here, she probably went unnoticed by all of the adults. They seemed to be ignoring the three of them rather well, even if he smelt rather horrible.
"Is there some other place that you play?" he asked with a curious expression.
