Well the truth is that people aren't rping with me, and thus I'm getting bored with SoD, and thus pretty sure I'm leaving soon unless I can find something to hold my interest (say some reason to make a ton of art, or lots of plots, hence the game idea).

Besides Lucca and one post from Callypso it's been a month since any of my threads have been replied to, and not a hiatus notice or 'hey I'm not interested in this anymore, let's close' in sight.

I was figuring I may as well have a little fun and contest in giving out my stuff, maybe getting some actual rp in the process, which is what I'm here for after all.

With no slots or chances to use my points any time in the near future, no threads moving despite repeated attempts, and apparently trying to do something nice for you guys offends you, I think I'm going to just abandon the "hopefully a game will make this place fun enough to be worth staying a while more" ship.

I don't have a lot of time right now because school just started and it's really eating my face, but I think you're not being entirely fair. D: I can understand being frustrated, but I don't think that just giving up is the right response to that. I also think that there's a huge misunderstanding going on between yourself and Nako, There was a ton of positive reactions to the idea of a game - I'm among those who think a game would be excellent and fun! - and a lot of people literally just haven't been around for at least a month.

Off the top of my head, I can think of two thread you're in with me, Sera, and Esfiel, one of which just got replied to a few days ago, and threads that you have with Kari, who's on longterm leave which she did post about.

I personally really hope you don't leave. I gave you babies because I think you're a fantastic RPer and a really great person. It's a rough time right now with people going through stupid RL stress and the board has been quiet, yes. But quiet periods have always happened, and it doesn't mean that people don't like you. D:

This is back to school time, right now. :/ August is Otakon and September is school beginnings, and it's really hard for a lot of us to find time to post... I know I'm one of them.

I'd be more than happy to try to start a thread with you once I get out of training. I can't guarantee I'll be a regular poster, but I'll do my best.

Also: I think games would be fabulous. <3 I love playing games!

Don't worry, I don't blame people who didn't reply, and I'm not mad at anyone or anything like that!

It's just getting.... boring and unfun around here. It's not just threads that are stalled, but also the lack of anyone interested in starting new ones.

Don't worry, I won't let Joel just wate away. If i leave for good he'll go to a good home.

Well, I thought a -contest- would be fun. And I tried to give suggestions in how to make this fun.

And then when you stated the thing about needing to bribe people because of dead threads, I felt like you were indeed alluding to the fact that you in fact aren't getting the rp you wanted therefore you felt you needed to give incentive, which I felt was hurtful.

Of course, if very active posters are what you're looking for... I might not be the person you want to rp with, because I PROMISE YOU that a fancy item would not make me post any faster than I already am (Which is really what I was trying to get at).

Like Greenie said, the biggest problem the board is facing right now is beginning-of-school time. Until I figure my schedule out, it would be a really bad idea for me to start anything new right now. :/

If you can give it another few weeks - which... I dunno. I think quitting would seem a bit extreme, if it's temporary inactivity that's giving you trouble, so I really think you should wait it out - I would love to do a thread with you! I have all sorts of characters that need attention, so I'd be thrilled to do it. :/

Actually I never said anything about bribing people. You said that. I didn't even mention that lack of rp was a factor until you insisted that I was giving bribes.

Nako, I don't totally understand how you're hurt that I'm getting bored by the inactivity, but I never did mean to upset your or imply anything negative towards you or anyone else. I'm sorry that I hurt your feelings. I really was trying to do something nice and fun for you guys.

I even decided that everyone who joined in should get something so that no one would feel left out or like I was playing favorites, and because there's no way to decide the 'best' rp, anyhow. I said that other people should also run parts of the game so I wouldn't be the one driving all the plots and other people could use the structure I set up to get plots they liked better going. In short, all like... 15 minutes thought I gave to the vauge outline of the game included in the first post was pretty much centered around 'how can I set this up so no one feels left out or shortchanged and we can do something fun?'

Clearly I needed to put considerably more thought into it.

I suppose the thing to do would be to give out my items by random number and forget the rp game and art thing altogether. That would certainly be less work for me and goodness knows I'm not drowning in free time what with my full time job and 4 hour daily commute.

Seriously though, I have a stressful enough life without dealing with drama centered around the fact that someone doesn't like the tentative terms of a game that I'm still not even sure is allowed to be run. The rest of you are welcome to give your opinions but I'm done defending myself and my intentions.

Hey Harps!

It's perfectly fine to advertise small contests with art prizes.
If you would like to spend points for little trinkets as well, this has also been done before and can easily be done again.

Just shoot me a PM with what you would like to give away: I can do little batches of 5-point apiece items or more depending on what you'd like to spend, and people can donate to the pot if they wish.
You can give me a theme and I can center the items around that, or I can have them tumble out of my head higgledy-piggledy all over the place.

To you and to everyone:
I'm really sorry about the inactivity.
I'm trying to get things done quickly around here but what with schools switching up, jobs needing to be garnered, and moving; things have been devouring my life more than usual.
Also, the board has a fairly regular pattern of inactivity and we're hitting one now.

Generally speaking:
End of August to mid-September - slow point due to school returns.
October to Early December - high points, people bored in school or in winter looking for a break.
Mid-December to January - slow point due to exams and people having to truck off for the holidays.
Late January to mid-April - high point where people have settled and are ready to play again.
Late April to mid-June - slow point with exams, moving, and summer job findings.
Late June to early August - High point where people have summer break, this can fluctuate with vacations and family travel.

So, I know it seems like everyone's abandoned the board for the time, many people will take breaks during our slow points because they know no one's around and they get bored as all hell. (you're insanely busy, as are most people. It's a pain in the neck, but true.)
Then, when people start coming back, they all return from their hiatus and begin again. It's not uncommon for people to take a break for a few months because no one's playing and then trundle on back after. <3

As for commissions, I'm still catching up on last years because law school let me do even less than I had anticipated. I'm truly sorry that I can't offer a larger amount of free slots, but I honestly can't do that.
Nearly all of my free time now is put into getting the pictures completed, it's why you never see me play anymore.
I have three more commission groups to draw up and then I will be opening them to people who have never commissioned me before.
I am sorry for the wait though, there's just only so much I can do, m'dear.


Don't feel like a bad player for being a little bored, you have every right to be.
However, wanting to have a contest is a fine thing, please feel free to do so, I'm churning through PMs and should be to it soon, actually.
If you would like, you're certainly allowed to run your contest. No worries.

Just to throw in my two cents here: The last couple weeks at work have been total hell for me, and it's my fault for not putting up a hiatus because I always just think.. nah, it'll be fine... I'll post tomorrow. I know I'm repeating myself since I mentioned work earlier (and it's ironic because work was SO OMG BORING for several months and now they're just loading stuff on me - which is good for work but bad for RP... haha), but I just felt the need to reiterate.

Also, I would assume the reason that the board's been dead in general (as Nat mentioned) was due to summer vacation and now the start of school (which I am done with, waaaaah!!!). I have a few threads that have been dead for a while, but a ton of people have gone on hiatus and several others are in school... I would open several more threads, but I know the first few weeks of school can be brutal and I'm sure it will pick up again, so I'll just wait it out.

Long story short, I don't think anyone doesn't want to RP with you, Harps. Everyone's just been super busy IRL and I would give it another month before calling it quits. That said, I'm still up for an art collab or coming up with a game if you'd like.

Again, I apologize for not being quick on the draw for our thread. Coming home cranky and wiped out from work does not a good RPer make. ;(
