Waaah... this is... WOW! O.O So, first off, I would like to say sorry for being lame for not commenting on anything of your lovely art for a long time, Nat. u_u But I really just want you to know just how fantastic and unique your art is, always has been and always will be!
The Corvistowne/Morganberry Joker comes across as a handsome, distinguished gentlemen who also seems as quietly self-confident as a cowboy, depicted by his choice of traditional garb and spurs, often seen in classic spaghetti westerns. I like how his body is nice, long, and fluid in each of his forms, as is proper for a snake.
It's not only the hint of Morganberry blood in his veins that gives his scales extra lustre-- the colouring is rich and butter smooth! I mean, you don't just let the world know that he's a snake by the plating of scales on his skin, you show it with that slick color transition you've got down. I don't know if this was intentional, but the black-and-orange color combo/pattern is reminiscent of the non-venomous Mud Snake. Very cool! ^_^b I really like his hair and his moustache. It is fine, yet unlike doll hair in glossy, liberal shades of silver. His eyes, they are orange... orange like flames, burning like flames, outwardly reflecting his inner fire to be the best in his field regardless of the consequences.
And I must say that it's a refreshing change to see as a much older SD since the majority look relatively young (before anyone shoots me with a crossbow, let it be known that I am equally guilty of having younger SDs ^^
. To me, that shows real growth as an artist to be able to successfully illustrate different ages.
The crossbow he wields is incredible! Not too decorative in detail, it still has a stylized look, interweaving its appearance with functionality so the weapon itself looks like it could be used in real life. I want a crossbow now, too! *_*
With that crossbow, combined with his awesome abilities to shape shift, cause another SD's weapon to malfunction, AND guarantee to injure, possibly even kill a designated target, he's a total badass who you DO NOT want to get on his bad side!
Aww, I feel sorry for both canines. u_u Though this situation has occurred in the past, it is nevertheless tragic-- abandoned shortly after being assigned to a new Dealer, then waiting in hope for another chance to be RPed. It's a shame that SDs themselves have no real control over their destinies. Surely it's in their nature to not live in such misery?
In any case, the Villa en Miir canine/feline hybrid is too darn precious! He seems to be a walking paradox, as his doubtful expression and submissive posture are at odds with the scriptures written in his fur. But I'm sure with a
shot of confidence, he will live up to his words "flirty" and "reckless." ^_~
Hmm... I am always dismayed how little love this Corvistowne canine seems to get. </3 How many times has she been passed from Dealer-to-Dealer? *shakes head sadly* There's nothing wrong with her- sure, she has a few syringes jabbed into her body, so what? That's just part of her appeal as a Medical Corvie. She is a calm, lovely femme wanting to try out new drugs and solutions! It's also interesting to note that as a Club, the Corvistowne canine has developed a similar immunity to most poisons like Jacks of Hearts. Out of all the starters, she truly deserves a loving Dealer who can RP her to her full potential.
It's great to know these two poor neglected starter SDs will have a fresh start, reborn into new characters to be played by another; I’m certain under Kari’s masterful guidance, they will flourish. ^_^
This Villa en Miir is a superb cat full of grace and charm, in spite of doing a credible impression of the Cowardly Lion from "The Wizard of Oz." I genuinely like his hunched pose and wide-eyed expression; he looks understandably quite fretful yet loveable all at once. It is as the scriptures written in his fur state, anyone or anything will likely have
triggered his
temper. Can you blame him for feeling that way after reading his back-story? Yeesh, I know the art world can be unkind at times, but that sordid turn of events makes it seem downright vicious!
; Anyhow, excellent work on the texture of his voluminous fur. The strands follow the curvature of his body, simulating a 3D effect that you can almost feel. Lately, I noticed you have been experimenting more with different textures, and I do hope you continue with the practice; this kind of detailing adds striking dimension, bringing a lot of attention to the subject.
Who would've thought Kristoff had a younger brother? Oh fugly, endearing boy! What a total little manbeast! Look at the colours, the scraggly fur, the under bite, the tiny glow-bob, the shading, and the webbing between his paws, this is a Card only a mother could love, but we still adore him anyway. <3 I commend you for managing to incorporate the lower jaw of an angler fish into a feline, and making the fusion look natural albeit bizarre on his face. Now imagine the fireworks if he's anything like his older sibling.
I'm always delighted to see pictures from you in the Pickups forum, Nat. ^_^ You make these SDs come to life on paper.
