Xenon...you're not a complainer. Losing someone like that is always really, really hard. I know if that happened to one of my cats I would just be bawling my eyes out, so...*more hugs and luffs*

What Lucca said - You're not a complainer. She was FAMILY and you have every right to be severely upset!
They weren't even my dogs, but every time one of my Grandma's dogs died I was always upset and cried my eyes out. They become family and have a place in your heart.

Awwww.
My first cat vanished in the same way when I went to college, within the first few weeks. Secretly I thought she might have tried to go looking for me and gotten lost, as she was pretty bonded to me and not really to anyone else in the family. But maybe cats don't do that. I don't know. She was only about 3 years old.
I was really sad about it, but my boyfriend at the time thought it was dumb how upset I was, so... yeah. Basically what I'm trying to say is that we all understand how hard it is, and feel free to vent as much as you want.
