Parents Wha?!
Starring - Kaleo (and his "parents")
Challenge -
Kaleo is playing the cello quite well at an amateur night in the Capitol. After the performance, two Cards come up to him and introduce them as his Mother and Father. They'd like to try and get to know their son... (now that they see the talent he has).
Warnings - None. I'm not one for swearing.
Word Count - 656
My thoughts - Ah, of course you pick one of Kaleo's trickiest problems. His parents. It's as short as I can manage and still put enough thought into. Well, enjoy.

The room quieted, leaving only the sound of fiery notes to fill the space. Quick, hot, spicy, yet low and deep there were those who could not believe a cello (even a 1/10 sized) could make such noises. A bow flew across the instrument, a purple paw plucking the strings. This master musician had an intent look in his clear blue eyes, gazing deeply into the soul of his music. Suddenly, the music seemed to jump into a much slower beat and it was as if romance could be grasped from the sound.
On and on it went until the last note hung in the air, quivering. Cheers ran through the air as Cards clapped their hands and paws together, exhilarated. Kaleo could only smile, taking a small bow before being rushed off the stage. The Six packed up, slinging his case onto his back before racing off speedily into the audience where an equine was setting up her harp.
"Kaleo!" The young Villa turned slowly about, gazing up into the eyes of a Villa en Miir/Highlands mix. Did he know her? He didn't think so. At her side stood a fellow Villa, a Canine. He beamed at the youth and quite proudly stated, "Son, you were great. I mean, are we lucky parents or what? Like a slate, he wiped his face clean of emotion and stared blankly at them. What?!
The Feline/Pine Marten giggled at that, staring at her mate as if he was so silly. "Oh boy, Ra. You startled him, isn't that right my Kaleo? It's going to be fine now. Such a talented young man, ohhhhhh yes. I thought we would never see you again. Off to the Capitol we went, leaving you to live out your life at our cliffside home. But here you are, showing off your music to the world."
Anger flared in his eyes, brilliant and defying. Who were these people to tell him that he was theirs? His memories may be blurred, but he saw no real love in their eyes. Their hearts were empty. They could pass for his parents, yes, especially with that wispy beard on the male's face. But it simply did not feel right. "So, son, why don't we go off to our home? Good idea, isn't it beloved Immi?" Immi giggled again, fluttering her lashes and wrapping her tail around one of his legs. "Ah, yes," she gushed. "Soon enough we'll be off to the courts."
The Highland mix attempted to hussle him off right there, but the canine mixie managed to evade her grab. Now Ra sounded impatient. "Come, come, Kaleo. I'm your father and off we go. Being reunited with family is a wonderful thing is it not?" He wrapped his long tail about his body and stuck his head high into the air. Kaleo's head was spinning with thoughts such as if they really were his parents why had they never written him a letter before now. But one thought stuck out before all. These cards may be his real birth parents, or they may not, but he would not allow them to control his life. They just wanted him because he was talented enough to perhaps maneuver them into a higher society of life.
He saw their ranks, a 5 for Ra and an 8 for Immi. As always, he had a choice in this matter. "You are not my parents." Astonished, the two cards blinked and felt the chill from his voice. They were not wanted. The Spade gave no word of good-bye, what he had said was finality enough. The last thing they saw was his tail/bow being whisked away with the rest of his body out the door.
