This was such a stimulating conversation wasn't it? Even his sisters had better conversations even if they ended in a screaming match. Maybe he could set down some guidelines for the porcupine so their little luncheon wasn't like pulling teeth.
At least he stopped trying to get closer. Though that look on his face wasn't all that reassuring. "No, I haven't actually. Every time my family arranged a trip to go something came up. And I haven't been able to arrange a trip to go there myself. So I'm an unfortunate soul who hasn't seen his home region," Gideon said with a faint smile. They were almost at the cafe, and it seemed like it was going to take an eternity.
"I would just like to make it clear that you're not going to be getting into my metaphorical pants this evening. You're far from my type, and I doubt having a nice chat with you over lunch will change that," He paused to give Felix a genuine smile. "But I thought I would at least see if there was more to you than your looks."

Felix frowned sympathetically. "Ah man, that sucks...heh, every time something came up, huh?" He chuckled. "Almost sounds like some higher power doesn't want you there for some reason. Though I can't imagine why! I'm sure you'd fit in just fine, like all...musically talented peeps." Felix tended to be fairly unobservant about most things, and so he didn't pick up on the fact that Gideon thought he was boring. Instead, he noticed how cute the mix's smile was. His tail gave a very small, involuntary wag, but he stopped it before it could worry the nervous Villa.
Of course, the next words managed to stop Felix's fantasies cold. Not his type? Man, so he probably was straight, then. That was a pity. He tried not to react too much, but there was probably an expression not unlike a kicked puppy on his face for a moment, though at the smile it shifted again to a happy look. At least he still got lunch. And who knew...maybe he could change his mind after all?
Because Gideon had just said he was pretty! (At least, this was the way the optimistic and rather silly Porcupine interpreted the mix's statement.) "All right, all right, dude...if you're sure." He couldn't resist just one little wink, but he looked apologetic for it. "Ah, sorry...I'm cool, really. I won't get all weird on you."
((ooc: XD;; Sorry he's so flirty...lol.))

(( OOC: XD <3 it's fine. Sorry Gideon is so... catty? ))
Dense. Perhaps that was the word that was on the tip of the mix breed's tongue as he found himself staring at the porcupine. Perhaps he had done too much pot to understand the nature of comments. Or perhaps it was just his nature?
Briefly Gideon's nose flared. He could have said something rather nasty, but he actually managed to refrain. At least he was doing his mother proud by being able to hold his tongue. "I will hold you too that promise," he said flatly.
They arrived at the cafe. There were plenty of seats that they could take. They were told to seat themselves by a dolled up young mouse, and that someone would take care of them shortly. The Villa walked over to high chaired table wordlessly, hopping up on the seat in one graceful motion.
Living with cats had some advantages.
"This isn't too high for you, is it?"

Felix tilted his head to the side...he wasn't aware he'd promised the man anything? Well, whatever. Some people just had really weird way of looking at things. "Okay," he replied cheerfully, spirits not seeming dampened at all despite his much lowered chances of 'getting some' from this pretty Villa. In truth, it was a combination of both his nature and a history of infrequent drug abuse. He'd tried just about everything, except for the very heaviest stuff, like Checkmate...mostly because he had never really been able to get it easily enough, since it was illegal pretty much everywhere.
Felix glanced up at the table, and though half of him wished they could sit at a normal one just because it would be less work...that was just the laziness talking. After all, Porcupines were climbers by nature. "Nah, it's cool." He climbed up into the chair with far less grace, but no actual trouble, and sat up, leaning his elbows on the table. "So what do they serve here? Just typical cafe type stuff?"

The Villa watched as the porcupine gracelessly climbed the chair. That was one way to get seated. He tried not to wrinkled his nose at the question. He reached between the napkins with his two paws carefully and tossed the paper towards the porcupine.
"They leave a small copy of the menu at each table. Normally they leave two but there's one for you to order from. The waitress will probably tell you about the soups of the day." Gideon had been to the cafe since he was little. They hadn't really changed much over the years. "They have plenty of normal cafe things and specials."
The mouse waitress showed up shortly after he finished speaking. She asked for their drinks and if they had order. The Villa placed his order without a second thought. Once she departed he turned his attention back to the porcupine. "So what do you do for a living?"

Oh, there was a menu there! Felix laughed a bit. "Oh, thanks, dude! Dunno how I didn't see that." He pulled the menu over and skimmed it briefly, just in time for the waitress to arrive. He ordered lemonade and a soup and sandwich combo and then slipped the menu back to the center of the table. He glanced up at Gideon. Why was the mix so tense all the time? Felix really wished he could get him to lighten up and put a smile on the cute little face but...he had agreed to boundaries that might make that more difficult.
Ah yes...the dreaded employment question. Well, since he already wasn't the other's type, an honest answer wouldn't change anything. Still, if Gideon was one of those Cards that got all uptight about who worked where and judged status based on occupation...it would certainly explain his attitude. Felix shrugged and leaned back slightly in his chair. "Eh, I prefer a quieter sort of life," he said, with no trace of shame. "Every third weekend I go to market and sell fish." Fish that his parents had caught, sometimes joined by the catch of one of their neighbors who was getting a bit too old to make the trek to market. It was Felix's one concession, or rather, it was the only reason his parents weren't constantly badgering him to get a job and move out. "How about you? Something musical?" he thought to ask belatedly. Now, if the other man was in a band or something cool, he'd find out.

So he sold fish? That honestly wasn't what the mix was expecting. Maybe there was still more to the porcupine than he thought. Though it didn't really change that much. They probably had nothing in common, and he still wasn't his type.
"Right now I'm doing odd jobs since yet another one of my bands fell apart. You know how lead singers are with their drama." He gave a shrug. The more he thought about it, and the more he sat here the option of going to Esterberry to study for a bit seemed like the best course of action. It would be a different perspective that he needed. "I'm a short order cook at a restaurant near here until I get the funds for a few trips I have in mind. And I work with a local orchestra, though that doesn't pay that much I always like to keep a job related to music."

Felix would probably have been rather amused if he knew Gideon was surprised by the news of his "profession". It really wasn't something that required a lot of work. Even fishing itself didn't require much effort (he had been a few times) if you weren't the one steering the boat or if you were fishing from a dock. It was mostly a lot of sitting around in the sun and waiting for a tug, then a burst of strength and voila--you had dinner. Granted, it was still more work than Felix cared to do on a regular basis. But he had the patience for it. Patience was easy when one found doing nothing to be an enjoyable activity.
So he had been in a band? Felix perked up a bit, though he didn't show -too much- interest. He was keeping his word. "Heh, yeah, I do. I dated one once." He snorted. "A lead singer, that is. He was very...eh...high maintenance, you might say?" He nodded at the rest of the story. "Cool, cool. Hey, that's great that you're in an orchestra, though. Does it play here in the Capital somewhere?" Though he may not have been at all articulate about it, Felix really did love music, of all types.

Gideon tried his hardest not to roll his eyes. He succeeded at keeping a straight face. Though it was quite difficult. So the porcupine had dated a lead singer? Probably one of the popular bands singers who was a drama queen about everything. He had dealt with that type time and time again, and he could easily see Felix dating that sort.
It fit somehow. Though obviously it didn't work in the long term.
The drinks arrived before the hybrid could answer the question. Gideon took a rather cheerful sip of his hot peppermint tea. That was something that could at least lighten his mood in the presence of the porcupine.
"We normally only preform shows on Holidays. Though our practice sessions are normally open to anyone who wants to visit. We preform at White Hall. It's about two blocks away from here." He readjusted his teacup as he spoke so he could better lap up the drink. An animal form was so undignified at times like this.

Given how interested Felix was in music, he'd dated a lot of musical types over the years. In fact, most of his more serious relationships (not counting the one night stands and brief flings) had been with someone that was at least a little musically talented. And the one time he had ever definitely been in love...well, that was not something he liked to think about, but that Card had had the most amazing singing voice Felix had ever heard. Of course, since it was so long ago, he may have been just a little bit biased. The other time he thought he might have been in love was ALSO with a singer, a Villa in fact. He'd honestly tried with her...and it had fallen apart despite his best efforts. After that he'd taken a bit more a lackadaisical approach to dating. In fact, if he'd bothered to think about it (which he usually didn't, because why burden himself with the past?) he hadn't had a 'relationship' last more than a week since she'd broken up with him.
The lead singer had actually been a rebound for both of them, and thus, all the more drama-filled for that. But Felix's mind was (as always) wandering far from his relationship baggage, especially as the food came out. He took an eager bite of his soup and winced as it burned his tongue. He went for the sandwich instead. "Oh? Awesome! I might stop by sometime and check it out." He picked up his lemonade and took a sip. Porcupine paws made doing things in animal form a whole lot easier. "How big is the orchestra? One time we had one that visited the lakes and did an outdoors sort of concert over the water and stuff...really cool...there were fireworks too...they were from the Villa and they had over 100 Cards in the orchestra!"
