The hybrid nibbled at his roast beef and cheese sandwich before responding to the porcupine. At least he seemed to be legitimately interested in the subject matter unlike most people. And every once in a while he said something interesting.
"100 Card Orchestra? You wouldn't happen to remember the name of the group?" He didn't know that many huge groups running around. So it was probably one of the more famous groups that preformed at the lake. It would be nice if he could actually see something like that if the event was repeated. "We only have half of that amount in ours. Which means we're a little short in a few departments. The French horn is probably our weakest section right now."
He gave a small shrug as he took another bite of his sandwich. Oh how he loved this meal. One day he should probably try something else, but they were the only ones who knew how to make a proper sandwich. He finished chewing before speaking again. He didn't want to choke. "So I take it you're a club hopper?"

Felix nodded excitedly, but at the question he frowned and scrunched up his nose, thinking. Did he remember? "It was something...obvious. Like, 'Grand Villa Heights Orchestra' or something." He shrugged. "It was years ago. I've heard they don't usually come so far outta their way to do shows." He took a sip of his lemonade, wishing it had just a bit of alcohol in it. Or at least a little soda. But it was probably too early in the day to be drinking or something. Pfft. Like he ever cared about those rules.
"Ah, man, I'm sorry to hear that," the Porcupine said, and nearly added something else, but then realized it might be taken as flirty and refrained from any coy compliments about the orchestra's percussion section. He knew when to keep his mouth shut. When he'd been told so bluntly, anyway.
Unconcerned, he ate a few more bites of his soup now that it was cool enough and waited for the other man to finish chewing. "Yep!" He beamed a bit. "I've probably been to all the clubs in the Capital at least once, well except for the exclusive ones of course. If I can find one with great raves -and- great booze, I consider it a good night." He raised an eyebrow. "But uh...you don't really seem like you'd be interested in that stuff...unless your band was playing there or something."

Gideon could feel his attention span waning thin. Of course he couldn't remember information about a orchestra playing. Oh well. It wasn't like the information was vital.
At least he seemed to be an active clubber. It normally wasn't Gideon's scene, but it was a good place to pick up random women and flirt. He had been to plenty of clubs, and had gone club hopping when he was quite underage with his sisters. Reckless was one of his words after all, so he did take stupid risks now and again.
"Normally it isn't," he said waving his paw dismissively. "Though I do go club hopping every once in a while. Have you ever been to Nancy's? It's fairly selective so..." He trailed off and took another large bite of his sandwich. The club was full of underground activity, and if the porcupine had been there he would at least know the type of person he was dealing with to a better extent. Maybe it would bring up something interesting for both of them.

With Felix's lackadaisical look at everything in life, a bit of mental sluggishness when it came to actually getting things to stick in his memory was expected. He'd always remember the really important things, like the name of his date and the locations of the best places to get booze. But things like the name of an orchestra that he'd probably see only once in his whole life? In that case, the name wasn't important. The experience was. And the Porcupine remembered the experience just fine.
Felix's golden eyes widened in surprise. So Gideon did go clubbing sometimes? "Nancy's?" He let out a bark of a laugh. "Yeah, I've managed to get in there all of once. It was a happening place though, as I'm sure you know, dude. And it's not like I got kicked out so, in the right situation, they'd let me back in." Felix shrugged. He knew they'd only let him back in if someone vouched for him or if he happened to have a lot of extra cash to bribe the bouncers with.

Oh really? Well that made the canine mix suddenly far more chipper than he had been. "Well then, would you like to join me for an evening of ridiculously hardcore partying and picking up chicks? If you meet me at nine PM in front of the club I can get us in fairly quickly."
It was nice having connections. Even if they had only been formed because of his darling talented sisters. Though they played traditional instruments they had gone through a brief period of experimentation. And with his interest in the drums that had lead to bands and a string of really unusual happenings.
It didn't take long for Gideon to practically inhale his meal and drink. His canine nature sometimes got ahead of him when he was eating, and he would probably finish his meal in half the time of the porcupine. He was always terribly embarrassed at meals with his family because of this.

The absolutely ecstatic expression on Felix's face answered long before he actually said anything. "Oh wow, that'd be totally awesome, dude!" Being so laid back, Felix had a rather loose definition of time, but for something really important like goofing off and having fun (possibly involving sex or booze) he could get there on time. With a rather stupidly large grin on his face, the Porcupine finished his meal...though not nearly as fast as Gideon did, which actually slightly amused him.
Of course, the Porcupine tried not to show his amusement, since that would be rude. He carefully took a large drink of lemonade instead, and somehow managed not to choke on it. This was certainly better than he'd expected things with Gideon to go after being bluntly told he wasn't the hybrid's type. Of course, lest the Villa change his mind, Felix decided he should find something else to do until 9. "So ah...until tonight then?" he asked, fishing out his money pouch to pay for his half of the meal (since he couldn't remember one way or the other if Gideon had offered to pay).

The mixed breed watched as the porcupine dished out the money for his meal. Even if Gideon had debated on paying both the bills (which were rather cheep anyway) he wasn't about to say so now. "Tonight then," he said with a small wave of his paw.
The night came all too quickly for the Villa. He slipped out of his place of residency and navigated the dark streets to the back alley club. He waited a little ways away from the entrance for the porcupine to show up. He was a few minutes early, and sorely tempted just to go into the club without waiting. However the idea of going in the club without a "wing man" of shorts was a little disheartening. He didn't exactly want to wade through all the potential ladies by himself.
He sighed as he took a seat on the sidewalk, feeling entirely awkward and out of place.

Felix, unlike Gideon, was really looking forward to that night. It seemed like it had been far too long since he'd been able to really cut loose and party all night. It was all he could do to keep himself occupied all afternoon, more antsy about it than he was used to being at all. He even risked a very quick glance in the mirror of a public restroom to make sure his quills were all in order (though he nearly had a panic attack and had to lock himself into a stall for nearly ten minutes to calm down).
He left fairly early from the diner he'd been sipping hot cocoa at while waiting, which meant that at his pace the Porcupine arrived outside the club at just about 9 on the dot. The bright Villa stood out in the night, sitting near the entrance and looking a bit antsy himself. Felix grinned and took the last few blocks at a pseudo gallop, stopping mere feet away and greeting his friend enthusiastically. "Gideon! Hey! Well, it's 9 o'clock and we're both here!" He spread his paws in a 'what are we waiting for' gesture. Felix figured the other just looked fidgety for the same reasons he'd felt like that all afternoon: the anticipation of the party to come. He didn't think the mix would have cold feet.

One day Gideon would have a wrist watch. Of course he would have to have fingers for that sort of thing, and until he did he would have to juggle the pocket watch that happened to be hidden in his bag. He fussed a little with it before the porcupine actually arrived. When he did the canine mix slipped the watch in his bag. He eyed the porcupine for a moment before a smile twitched onto his muzzle.
"Let's go," he said as he trotted to the door. They would gain entrance with ease, the bouncer ushering them inside. The Club was packed to capacity. A good deal of smoke clouded the air. There were plenty of people to socialize with and there were ample amounts of alcohol. It would be a night to remember, or a night that happened as a bit of a blur because of all the wonderful bad influences that were floating around.
