Information [/b] ID: SD026 Name: Majida Suit: Clubs Rank: Ten Gender: Female Animal: Birds (Eagle) Region: Sorgaire Range Dealer: Jaguara Notes: None Abilities[/b] Basic Magical Ability: She can go three days without needing to sleep. Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, she can carry up to 100 lbs of extra weight for 24 hours straight, one day per week. She is left feeling tired and somewhat drained for the 24 hours following that period. Strong Magical Ability When activated, she can break small stones into fragments. When doing so, she can either snap/break it gently, or have it explode outward with substantial force. Powerful Magical AbilityWhen activated, she can communicate with another Club they are acquainted with through the earth, by pressing and part of her body to any type of stone. She can communicate telepathically with other Clubs up to three miles away, any further than that and she cannot send them out and they cannot receive. Background Information[/b] Basic InformationClubs The Hoof[/b] Clubs are by far the most common Suit and they are the only ones that can occur in breedings where neither parent possessed the Suit. For example, a Spade and a Diamond have children; it is perfectly plausible for them to have one Diamond and two Clubs. The only breeding Clubs cannot occur in is one between two red Cards. Clubs are seen as the "grunts" of Society. Even their Queen is not as highly respected as any of the Other Queens, be they a better ruler or not. They are often put to use as laborers by other Suits and aren't regarded for their intellectual skill, even though many are more than qualified to be in higher positions. The Club representation, the Hoof, represents their durability and their station as laborers; many resent the label. Basic Magical AbilityAll Clubs can go two or three days without needing to sleep, depending on their individual stamina. TenTens are the bottom of the "upper class", not a bad thing when society idolizes the rich and powerful; once you hit Ten, however, the thought is always that life could be better. The face cards look down upon Tens for not being high enough to enter the true nobility and the lower numbers snub them for having more magical ability and Court status than they do. Though they are still mostly accepted by the lower numbers, the face cards tend to treat Tens as personal servants, which can feel demeaning. Tens desire nothing more than to move up into the actual world of the upper crust. BirdsBirds are seen fairly often across the Realms. They are a far cry from hard to find, yet slightly rarer than a Feline or Canine. They are usually found outside of the Marshes, which they tend to despise, and will often roost in the Highlands until chased out by the residents. Birds can be anything from predatory to a common sparrow. Sorgaire RangeResidents are usually slate with a white speckled underbelly and dark blue facial markings that continue down the spine. They have a higher than normal chance for mane mutations and, when a mane appears, it is almost always silvery. Residents of the Sorgaire Range have little to fear from invading forces or a lack of resources. Though the mountain range is mostly rocky and barren, they are often supplied with cheap food and other supplies from the Josiggy Marsh to ensure that they don't assist those in the Lowlands. Lithe and camouflaged, the members of the Range have an easy enough time blending into their surroundings and avoiding conflicts that may occur around them. Elsewhere, their coats are often praised for their simple beauty and are admired by those about them. Intelligent and aspiring to greatness, many Range dwellers will leave to seek placement in the Courts. They are prized for their quick wit and dry sense of humor toward daily life. The members of the Range often carry with them a piece of stone from their home. Loosing it could cause the owner much grief. Away From Paradise
She had been bundled tightly by her new foster parent in one of the blankets from the basket she had shared with the other five youngsters. She tried to wriggle free as the adult carried her took her farther away from the gleaming white walls. No…no…not away from there! Let’s go back! I don’t want to leave this place... She though to herself, but she soon discovered that her attempts to break free were useless. She looked up at the face of her caregiver it was cold and emotionless and scary. Her scaled skin in sunset hues was a definite contrast to her own pale blue and white feathers. She was in her bipedal form as well and that made her even more intimidating to the small child. The female’s reptilian eyes looked down at her own avian ones. Disgusting little wretch, but at least you will be of use to me…you will serve me for the rest of your days. The queen gave you to us and only us…lowly club. “Don’t think that things are going to be all sunshine and rainbows sorgairian…you belong to me and you will do as I tell you to.” The words hissed out of her mouth as she watched the child struggle in her bindings. She looked up at the female with defiant eyes and wished that just a part of her was close enough to peck. This morganberrian was disturbing but she wasn’t going to let her tell her what to do and how to act. “Y-you can’t control me…I’ll get away from you and come back here just watch me…you’ll see…” her blue eagle eyes looked defiantly into the face of her caregiver. Sigma, as she would soon come to find was her name, was scary but no one had been able to control her by force and she would soon find that out. Sigma stopped suddenly and put the sorgairian youngster on the ground so forcefully that she couldn’t help but utter a small squeak as air rushed from her lungs. “You listen to me…You are mine and you would learn well to treat me with respect. You are lucky to be placed in my care and not killed by his majesty. You would be dead right now if he had it his way…you will accept whatever fate has bestowed on you. Learn to be grateful with what you have and not anything more.” She hissed into her face. The youngster just looked at the adult with defiant eyes, she hated her already and she wished she would just leave her there in the gutter. She tried to peck the woman with her sharp beak and just barely missed. Unfortunately, her attempt to assert herself only landed her and swift hard slap to the face. Rage grew within her as her cheek ached and hatred grew for the one that was to be her caregiver. “You will grow to learn your place or I will beat it into you.” She shoved the child to the ground with her foot and stepped on her chest. “Do you understand?” She squirmed, tried her best to not attempt to show that she was going to be subservient, but she knew with how small she was and how large and strong the adult was she had no choice. She managed a nod of agreement and wished that the opportunity would present its self soon so that she wouldn’t have to endure any more of this treatment. Tears threatened at her eyes and she just thought of happier times as she felt herself hoisted over the female’s shoulder and lead away from the beautiful place she had hoped to call home and into a hell that she did not want to face.
New Beginnings
Away…yes away, far away from them. She had escaped in the middle of the night after managing to peck her way out of her blanket bindings that they left on her. She was glad to be away but didn’t know where to go after she had plotted and completed her escape. She knew that she couldn’t go back to the palace, as he would have just turned her out again even though that was where she truly wanted to be. Her chest heaved as she flew as farther away from those people and the palace, which was where she truly wanted to be. Her wings ached at not flying this far or this fast before either. The landscape had defiantly changed and nothing looked very familiar. She was lost and becoming more so with every passing second. A tree, is that a tree there in the distance? Yes, it’s a tree! The fledgling smiled in her heart as with no lips one could not possibly smile. The tree meant safety for the night as well as a place to rest her weary body. As she neared the tree, landed, and managed to almost fall, her legs had become stiff and they threatened to grasp the branch properly. She carefully made her way to the trunk of the tree and settled against it. Sleep was slower coming than she liked and her mind thought back to what seemed like days before sleep finally took her.
He groaned as he awoke from another restless sleep filled with visions of his home and her. It seemed he wouldn’t be able to escape that place no matter how hard he tried. The sun was beginning to appear above the horizon and filled the sky with hues of purple and orangey pink. His stomach growled at him as he remembered that he had failed to find any food the day before. He once again looked around the landscape and knew that eventually he would have to make an appearance in the village or starve. His appearance in the village could put a damper on his plans, but did he have any other options? He had looked all over the previous day for a quick meal and found nothing; chances were that today would be no different. He stretched his legs as he stood up from his resting place under a tall tree with low hanging branches. They provided a nice shelter from most of the summer breezes in the area and helped to keep him hidden from any one that might have been wandering around in the middle of the night. As he left the safety of the branches, he made sure to note the location for the night to come. He would return to this spot, it was safe and far enough away from people so that he wouldn’t be located until he was ready. He looked around and hoped that maybe he would be able to find some small morsel today. He knew that small mammals like mice and rabbits would still be sleeping in their burrows but birds would be resting in the trees and bushes. He looked up into the tree he had just crawled out from and notices something high in the branches. It was large, but small enough to make quite a decent meal. He looked around for a place to climb up and not startle the creature away. It seemed that luck was on his side for the moment as one of the drooping branches of the tree was large enough for him to climb on without having to jump. He carefully made his way up the tree and towards the creature. The closer he got the more apparent it became that it was a bird but as it was still dark and the feathers seemed to blend together with the shadows he still was having a hard time making out what it was exactly. Suddenly his balance faltered and the tree shook violently stirring the creature awake. It blinked its eyes a few times, gripped the branch tightly with its small talons, and looked around. Being a bird of the raptor kind her vision was quite good and she spotted the large canine without any trouble. She scowled at the stranger and moved towards the flimsier part of the limb to give him trouble trying to reach her. “I’m not going back…you can’t make me go back there…” She looked at him with defiance and strength in her voice. Sebak just stayed where he was gaping at the sorgairian. Her colors her eyes…just like Nathifa’s...he thought to himself. He didn’t know what to do he was paralyzed with emotions of angry and love all at the same time. Was some one out there trying to play some kind of sick game with him? He sneered and turned away from the child. “I don’t know what you are talking about…” He just mumbles under his breath disappointed by not having a meal and being reminded once again of things that he had left behind, of things he didn’t want to remember. The fledgling just sat in the tree and watched him leave. He intrigued her, his grumbling manner and sour disposition she found it funny in a way. She had to admit that her curiosity was getting the best of her, she wanted to know more about this stranger, and as such, she glided down from the tree and landed right next to him. She looked him up and down and to her he didn’t seem as scary as he first had. In his eyes, she saw sorrow and loneliness, heartache and determination. He was more interesting then the man with the fiery hair, so many things about him. She liked him and was going to stick around weather he liked it or not. “I’m Majida!” She said with a huge grin in her voice and hopped over towards him. “What is your name?” She cocked her head and watched him closely to see what he would do now. Sebak eyed the little bird. She had guts he had to admit that, but he didn’t need another mouth to feed when he couldn’t even feed himself in this place, besides she reminded him of things he didn’t care to remember, what would be the point of keeping her around any way? Yet despite all of the shortcomings he couldn’t help but see some potential in her, she was spunky and could possibly have more potential in the future as far as his plans were concerned. “Sebak, what does it matter? You’re not coming with me…” He turned to leave seeing what she was going to do now. She sat there stunned…so many wanted to take her with them that day at the palace and here she wanted to go with him and he didn’t want her around? He is defiantly different from all of the others I like him she thought to herself as she hopped after him as fast as she could go. She noticed his wings on his back. She flexed her own in an unconscious fashion. “Flying is fun isn’t it? I love to fly, to see all of the things you can’t see from the ground its great don’t you agree?” She hopped next to him and tried to start up a conversation. Sebak stopped and quickly stared her in the face his brows furrowed in what looked like to be frustration. He threw out his wings so that she could see them for herself. “I can’t fly…it would be best for children to be seen and not heard and to learn their place in this world…don’t ever assume anything child…” he folded them back against his body as he walked away from the stunned child. She just sat there and then smiled to herself and hopped after him as quickly as she could…yes with him was where she was going to stay.
Tears and Fears
It was a long walk home for the small sorgiarian child and every step was filled with pain. Pain from her wounds and pain from being exiled from the palace of hearts. Her eyes were now red and blood shot and her head was pounding from the tears she had cried. How long had she sat there in front of the gates just looked at the towering white walls and the tiny glimpse of the red and yellow roses? Just sitting there watching not paying any mind to the eye balling stares she was receiving from the guards when they had received word to not let her in. They didn’t chase her away, they only watched her actions and her tears as they flowed from her eyes as she though about the entire thing she was going to miss in that place even though she hadn’t been there for very long. Dymphna and Temmin…she was going to miss them the most. There were very few people that she could have talked to and what was worse was the others just scared her or pushed her away. Her thoughts suddenly went to the lowlander she had encountered on her way to the palace. He scared her and his look and mannerisms weren’t that of just wanting to place fear in her heart. She had a feeling that it was more that he wanted from her. If that was the case though then why didn’t he take it? Or why didn’t he just ask? Why did he threaten her to the point where she had literally ran the rest of the way to the palace.
Finally, she approached the cave that she shared with Sebak and in which they called home. He had a fire going which was now that he had hands in which one could be made. Nights before had been very cold and damp, but this helped take that edge off. She didn’t look at him when she came in and didn’t say a word, she just made and attempt to head to her little corner near the back of the cave. “Where have you been? Here.” Sebak watched her as she entered the cave and tried to make her way to the back. She stopped in her tracks and looked at him with red blood shot eyes and tear stained feathers. She looked at what he was telling her to take. It was a small plate of rabbit meat...nothing compared to what she had eaten earlier and in which she was also still full from. “I don’t want it…I’m not hungry…I just want to sleep…” was all she said as she continued her way to the back of the cave. Sebak watched her and in his usual manner poked at her mannerisms like he usually did. “What’s your problem Pest? Did you crash and go boom while flying today?” she sneered at her and awaited the usual fiery intense response from her. She just shook her head while still walking and mumbled under her breath. “No…but I don’t want to talk about it…just leave me alone Sebak…” “Fine crybaby see if I care anyway…” he replied snidely at her but still got no rise out of the child. With his last remark and the fact that she had reached where she was headed she crawled on her make shift bed of grasses and leaves and laid there silently until sleep finally took her.
Realizations
Why did bad things seem to just follow her wherever she went? She hustled as fast as she could down the alleyway and looked for an escape, but there was none to be found. She whipped around to face her assailant. He stood there, glared at her, and blocked the only escape she had. She whimpered quietly as she tried to think of a way out of the current mess she was in.
She thought quickly back to how this had happened. She had just been walking through the city and had noticed that she was being followed. She did not know why, for she had nothing of any value on her person, but yet with every turn she made she could feel him right behind her until she bolted as fast as she could and came to the now blocked alleyway.
“Here pretty bird…Come with me Pretty Bird…” he coaxed to her as he crept closer and closer to the shivering form. She did not know what to do, she just wanted to hide and so she just closed her eyes. As she did so little did she realize that she was activating her strongest magical ability.
“Go away…GO AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE!!” She shouted at the male and as the last word escaped her beak, the cobble stone street around her exploded out wards towards the male. He cried out in agony as small shards of stone stuck in his body and he fell to the ground in shock in addition to the force of the blow.
She opened her eyes and stood there watching the man as he lay in a mass of rubble. He did not move but he was still alive. She thanked her lucky stars as she quickly ran out of alley way and towards home. She would have to try that again when she had a stroke of bad luck…perhaps it would be helpful again.
Worst Nightmare
He was drunk again she noticed as he stumbled into the cave they called home. Miyako sneezed at the bipedal canine. She did not like him much and Maji was at a loss of what to do about it. She decided to not think about it, besides as long as she was tethered near her own bed she usually did not bother Sebak too much. He looked up at her with dazed eyes and almost fell as his feet got tangled up in themselves. Maji jumped up when she saw this and rushed to his side.
“Sebak…” was all she could manage to say. She hated how he had been doing this to himself for quite some time now. Yes, he always managed to still care for both of them and she could not complain about that aspect of his bad habit, but it seemed that this night was one of the worst yet. He had forgotten the goods he had stolen earlier that morning where he had hid them and only just barely remembered the way home. He looked at Maji again and blinked. She was only a blue blur with a familiar voice…but he was too far-gone to remember whose voice it was. The only name that managed to make its way to the surface was Nathifa. Was this her? He could not think as all of his pent up emotions surfaced and he grabbed Maji and held her close.
Maji just stood there stunned. Never in all of the time that she had known Sebak had he ever embraced her like this. It was caring and wanting all at the same time. It made her wrap her feathery arms around his body and just stand there as she helped support his weight.
“Don’t leave me…” he whispered unknowingly into her tiny ear. Maji held him closer and whispered back without thinking. ”I’m always here; I’m not going any where…” She nuzzled her head into his chest as he ran his hands over her head. He pushed her away from him and pulled her over to his sleeping area and as he sat, he yanked her down with him. Nathifa…he thought to himself as he gave into his longing desires and needs to the women he thought was right beside him. Maji on the other hand was still stunned as he pulled her over to his sleeping area and down to the bed of dried grass. She knew full well what was happening at this point. Her experiences with Ashwin had taught her that much and as his roaming hand made its way down the side of her body. She could not find the words to say no as she as well gave into her physically wants desires and needs.
He sat up and clasped his head in his hands. What had he done last night? He thought to himself as he slowly opened his eyes and wished that he had not drunk so much. He started to look around and he winced as the light from the rising sun shined into the cave. Strange…it was warmer in here than normal. He noticed through squinted eyes that he did not have his cloak on him and again he thought that the warmth was odd. It was not until he placed his hand down on a blue sleeping form of feathers that was Maji did he realize where the warmth was coming from. Slowly he turned his head and stared wide eyed at the blue and silver bird that was sleeping next to him. What did he do? Why was she there? Slowly thoughts of last night came to him. Nathifa, it was Nathifa that he was with last night was it not? No, it could not have been here…and if it was not Nathifa that was the blue blur that had come towards him then it must have been….Oh no….he thought to himself. He jumped up his head still throbbing and he clenched it again in his hands.
Maji rustled in the make shift bed when she felt Sebak move. She was use to sleeping next to some one, but when they got up out of bed, it always seemed to wake her up. She blinked her blue eyes and turned in the direction that the warmth of Sebak had been. She almost jumped when he was suddenly not there but caught herself as she noticed his feet. Her gaze followed his legs up his body and to his face. The expression he had plastered on it was one that she was not expecting. Horror and disgust and shock was plastered all over the familiar canine’s form. She was confused. Ashwin never looked at her like that in the morning, so why was Sebak. She sat up and reached out to him and he took a step back
“Just…don’t…don’t touch me…” he instructed forcefully at the bird as he continued to move away and sat on a near by bolder that they used as a make shift chair at times. She was confused even more so now. Had he not told her that he did not want her to leave him last night? Had he also taken her by the hand and laid down in his bed together with her? She wanted to go closer to him to comfort him as she had last night, but she stayed where she was. “What…what happened last night?” he finally asked her as he interrupted the chilling silence that had formed within the cave and between them. Maji just stared at him. What did he mean by what happened? How could he have not realized what happened he was right there when it had happened. “We…that is…you and I…” she stuttered not quite sure how to say what had happened. Maji’s stuttering response only confirmed what he already knew had happened and it was some thing he wished was just a ruse even though he knew better. Sebak stood up and walked out of the cave his head filled with the confirmation of his worst thoughts.
She watched him go and as she started to stand to follow him, she heard him cursing and some thing that sounded like a thump. She hurried to the entrance of the cave where she saw him a few feet away slamming his fists against the ground and his body convulsing due to what seemed to be crying. She tried to approach him to ask why he was so upset; she just did not understand how he was acting at all. He noticed a form of blue, which he knew, was Majida and lifted his head to watch her. “Don’t come near me…,” he whispered hoarsely in an angry frustrated voice as he looked away from her. She stopped and looked hurt. She just wanted to set things right, to know what was wrong. “Sebak, what’s wrong?” she asked as she stood where she was when he told her to not come any closer. “I just don’t understand….” She whispered more to herself than any one else. He looked up at the young female and sighed. Of course she would not understand what he was currently going through, she had been sheltered and he had never told her any thing about Nathifa…how much he cared about her, and how much he regretted leaving her. He did not respond to Maji’s comment as he swiftly went into the cave and fetched his cloak and a belt with a money pouch attached to it. He could not stay here…not now that things had changed. He left quickly without a word and just left Maji standing in the entranceway as she slowly dropped to her knees and wondered why.
Abandoned
Sebak had come back to the cave in the middle of her pregnancy and completely flipped out. He had paced back and forth for hours while Maji shifted about uncomfortably in her bed. She did not know who that father of her unborn brood was at that time and Sebak did not ask either. All she knew is that he did not drink any more and it seemed he was actually doing some thing productive for once.
Once the eggs had been laid she waited anxiously for the day when they would hatch. She had been especially curious about the bigger of the two. When the smaller egg began to crack, she watched with intensified curiosity. She needed to know who the father was, but when she saw the blue mixed with brown and the horribleness that was a mix of her region and breed, she had to stifle back a scream. She noticed blue eyes, eyes like her own gracing the face of the small disgusting mix as he looked up to her face with innocent eyes. She tried her best not to cry as her heart sunk and she thought she knew who that father of both of her children were. She sat some distance away from her nest as she continued to watch the other unhatched egg. Slowly a small crack began to appear and she inched closer with a small hope that it would at least look like her. When there was finally a crack big enough for Maji to peek inside she saw the blues and purples of her region and fur, she relaxed a little as she waited for it to break out of its tiny prison. Minutes seemed like hours as she continued to ignore he first born and slowly the second egg became a furry ball of fluffy and feathers. She sighed a little and slowly helped him out of his shell all the while thinking that he would just be a pure sorgairen mix of her own eagle breed and that disgusting lowlanders vermin. His face was hidden underneath his paws but as she removed the shells, he fell forward, opened his eyes, and lifted his head. He looked at her with blue eyes, the same eyes he shared with his brother, yet it was not his eyes she stared at, it was his facial features. He, he looked like Ashwin, that rodent was not this one’s father. The tears of revulsion turned to tears of relief and of joy as they fell down her feathered face. She picked up her second born and held him close. He was perfect and he was her’s. She cooed at the larger of the two babies, but as she tried to forget about the other child, he kept creeping into her mind. She did not have the heart to kill him, as much as she did not want him around, she just could not end the tiny babies life.
She continued to think as she looked at the region mix with disgust and she held her other beautiful pure son in her arms. Awful memories of that early morning came rushing back to her. She remembered his father…he had promised that he would find her when she became an adult and he had held true to his word. She tried her best to push the horrible memories from her mind as the tears began to form in her eyes. She held her son closer and traced the contours of his face with her clawed hands gently. What could she do about her unwanted child? She did not want to find his father, no, she never wanted to see him again and she just wanted to forget that morning. Maybe she would ask Sebak to deal with the child for her. What would he do with it? If she did ask him, would he kill it? Would he leave it somewhere to die? She shook off those feelings as she stood up with her son, whom she decided to call Aeron, and walked over to her sleeping area. She gathered some of her belongings and placed them into a small bag that she had kept from her quest for the queen of hearts and her banders. She grabbed her blanket, swaddled the boy in it, and made her way into the city. She wanted and needed to see Ashwin…she could not stay here in this cave any more. She got far enough away from the cave and she could hear the small-unwanted thing still inside squealing for warmth and comfort. She forced back tears as she ran away into the approaching night clutching her chosen son to her breast.

Translation:
From an unknown country across the sea a wind blows gently past my ears. I want to know who this person is living as a troubled memory within my heart. To love someone or be loved by someone I wonder how it feels. Someday I will surely come to know. The night drenched in the blue star's light, I was a child. Why is that day's melody, once blowing so wild, now fading away?
Intermittently, a singing voice drifts toward the open sea.
To love someone To be loved by someone - I wonder how it feels. It feels so far...
I want to cherish this newborn thought... Fate has stirred my heart in vain. It's only the wind...
