Millie gave a delighted squeal and tossed her arms around her sister. "Thank you, thank you! You are the best sister!" And her only sister, but that didn't fully matter just then. "Yep, I have the money. I've been saving it." For banders. "I'll keep my beak closed and let you do the talking." The quetzal's feathers were all fluffed up with glee and she was about to skip over to the door when it suddenly flung open and a disgruntled man stormed out. Millie pulled back, but the cursing bipedal didn't seem to notice them as he stormed off. Remus had been watching the girls ever since they'd entered the alley. This little section of back streets were among his most common stomping grounds - great for picking pockets and then slipping away unnoticed. The last thing he'd expected to discover here, however, was exactly what popped up: Millie, the pretty Quetzal girl. He'd followed her home before and saw that she lived in a very well-to-do area with a protective father who had almost caught him lurking outside their home. Her voice had first caught his attention, cooing about banders - he'd already come to gather that she was fond of them.. but here? in this shithole? Poor choice, pretty girl, but her sister also seemed to be aware of that. This place was a bander mill, full of inbred and sick creatures, why did these two 'rich girls' need to come here? The argument of Ashwin's almost seemed to work, but something must have caught Millie's eye because the argument was back up and Sister was losing. Even after the warnings of sickness and daddy's anger, Millie didn't quite seem able to stop herself from going through with this. So Millie had a weakness for Banders, even the sick ones?... Perhaps this would give Remus a reason to finally get close to her. A smirk drew over his muzzle and he used the distraction of the angry customer exiting to make his entrance (without seeming like a complete creeper). "Hey... I was doing work around the corner and I couldn't help but overhear that you're having a bit of a dilemma." He glanced from Millie to her sister and put on his best 'sweet little boy trying to help' smile. It worked on every adult he encountered and, because Diamonds were so good with those damn lie detectors, he made sure he was being utterly honest despite twisting his words. "Something about a bander needing a home? I've been sorta wanting a Bander myself, but my parents aren't really around... and I can't afford one..." His smile had dropped and was now a little embarrassed, but there was Millie's eyes lighting up. She didn't seem to remember him, but he'd found her soft spot and that was all that mattered. Millie's hand was on the door and she paused, turning at the sound of a vaguely familiar voice. ...He was familiar, but only vaguely so and mostly because he was adorably pink like Ana and had many legs. She was certain they'd met before, but she didn't know his name. "Well ...I shouldn't really be getting a Bander, because Daddy doesn't approve on me having one so young... but maybe..." She glanced to Qwin and then back to Remi, she didn't want to deceive the boy into taking a sick bander for her... "But it might be sick..., and it has a mangled paw. It doesn't deserve to die though! I bet it just needs a little extra love!"

Qwin was not amused by the sudden appearance of someone other than her sister. She looked over her shoulder with a sour expression at the person who was talking to them.
A boy who looked terribly pitiful. A small part of her felt bad for him, but the other part was screaming. He was a boy. That automatically made him one of two things. Icky or someone to be manipulated. Her Daddy and Family were the only exceptions to the rules. Even then she sometimes ended up bending them.
So what of this boy? Was he icky or someone to manipulate.
At the moment he seemed to be icky. And he seemed to be trying to get them to pay for a bander that was for him.
No. No. This was stupid.
"Millie, we're not paying for a sick Bander and giving it to him." Her feathers fluffed out as she looked at her sister. "But if we can talk the owner into giving it to us for free that's a different story."
She shot a look at the boy before turning back to her sister. "Let's just go in there and handle this one step at a time."

Millie nodded adamantly to Qwin's assessment of the situation. "Well, yes! Of course!" Millie still couldn't imagine paying for a Bander that this man wanted to kill. She'd already imagined it all in her head. A little use of her diamond charm and Qwin's superior logic would force him to surrender the weak but adorable beast! But that hadn't happened yet and Qwin was very very right: if they paid for it, it wasn't going anywhere. "If he's free, then maybe! Just wait here." She smiled sweetly at the boy and then turned back to Qwin and pushed the door open for her sister.
They would make a perfect team!<3
An odd smile suddenly quirked onto Remi's muzzle. How dare she treat him so suspiciously! No one ever... but they were diamonds and of course he could expect some of that, they were natural charmers and manipulators - he was simply barking up the wrong tree. Instantly his expression smoothed into a blank unreadable mask with nothing but a pleasant (perhaps overly so) smile. "Very true, and I wouldn't think of taking your money! We'll just see how things play out."

Qwin rolled her eyes at the boy's response and how airy her sister was sometimes. She had to focus on the task at hand though. She had a task to do and she was going to do it right.
As soon as they entered the the building she frowned. It smelled awful. It looked dirty. It was just utterly disgusting all around. Now wonder that they had to kill something. Her feathers fluffed out for a moment before she settled herself.
"Excuse me sir!" she said in the brightest voice she could manage. "We were passing by and couldn't help but notice that you had a rather interesting bander that you wanted to get rid of."
Hopefully this wasn't too forward. It was a shame she didn't have a mane so she could brush it backwards. That would be the prefect touch to the whole entire situation.

Though Millie was an airhead 90% of the day, she had her moments when she could pull the act together and be a proper, commanding lady. It just wasn't always that fun. The little quetzal laid her feathers down nicely and allowed her long tail to fan out behind her as she accompanied her sister to the counter and smiled her best, most polite, smile at the man at the counter.
As she waited for Qwin to strike the deal, Millie made sure to pinpoint the bander they wanted. There were yowling miserably all over the place, but she was looking for a particular pair of - ah, right there. Beady red eyes and a little white paw sticking through the bars. Pretty little creepy, Millie and Qwin will save you!
The shop owner paused as two little girls walked in the door, a brow arching as he searched for the adult that should be monitoring them. None? His expression turned a little sly and he leaned on the counter to put on his 'best smile' which was actually nothing more than a scum bag's condescending grin.
"Is that so? Well then, why don' ya just show me wha ya lookin' fo an' I'll help ya out." The bipedal dog was some sort of Golfram mix. Ew. Millie couldn't stand the sight of him, but worst of all was his tone. He sounded like he was trying to play them, but over filthy banders like these? Even Millie had more sense than to be lead astray.
She briefly entertained the idea of kicking him in the shins and running away with the bander, but that was Bad and Millie knew better.
Outside, Remi came over to lean on the window. There was a sick bander torn between trying to gnaw off his face through the glass and sneezing on him repeatedly. Remi ignored the bander and watched the girls, his tail twitching thoughtfully.
It'd be interesting to see if they could do this, or if a little... extortion would be necessary.

Qwin could practically see the sleaze dripping off of the man. If Daddy was here this would be a completely different situation. At the moment she had to handle everything properly. And she had to get over the sick feeling in her stomach. This place was utterly repulsive.
"The sickly albino," she said without a moment of hesitation. "You see our family is known for bander breeding, and all the wonderful complications that go along with a poor albino bander. He's probably a temperamental little demon, and we over heard that you were going to put him down. My sister was curious to see what he was like."
She gave a cordial smile to the man. She puffed out her chest a bit and looked as regal as she could manage. It was difficult when you were a short bird. Hopefully he didn't think she was joking. "Please don't take us lightly because we're children."

The man was obviously sizing them up, deciding whether or not these children were worth his time. They were pretty high ranking for little kids... where was the parent involved? Two diamonds with high ranks were definitely not entirely alone.
Hmph. He grabbed the albino from the cage he'd shoved it in and held it out by the scruff so the girls could see it better. "You're right about his temperament." The little albino growled and snapped and generally made himself a squirmy ball of fuss in the man's grip. "Sure y' little girls can handle a beast like 'im?"
What an insult, Mr. Sleezeball! Millie thought to herself but she simply smiled prettily at the nasty man and giggled. "I'll make a little bet with you, Mister. If I can tame him, can I have him?" Millie said this all in her adorable way, knowing full well how hard it was for an adult to take anything that she said seriously. Let him underestimate her, she dared him. Ana, focused by her own attentive interest, had already stopped her aimless rolling to focus on the Bander as well though she didn't act without Millie's direction.
Outside, Remi watched on with an incredulous but intrigued look. Really? The little girl thought she could handle that thing?

Qwin managed to keep a straight face at her sister's statement. She didn't want to smirk at a time like this, that would probably give away entirely too much. Looking up at the man she gave him a deadpan and serious look. "Or are you too afraid to bet two little girls? Like I said, our family has a way with banders..." she trailed off and shrugged.
There was no way that the man could refuse. After all he had an ego just like every other man, and having two little girls undermine him wasn't something he was going to let happen. Qwin patiently waited for his response. Her eyes wandering over to the window.
Was that boy staring at them? Her feather's almost puffed up. Her eyes wandered back to the bander in question, and then traveled towards the man. What was he going to say?

The man scoffed a little, his hackles rising at the two girls. Did they really think they could manipulate him like that? And as if a little waif like her could really control a wild little beast like this half-dead runt of the litter? Fine. He hoped the bloody little thing mangled her pretty face.
"It's a bet then," he sneered and promptly dropped the little beast into Millie's arms.
Millie gasped softly, surprised by the drop, but she acted quickly and snagged the little Bander out of the air and Ana jerked to attention. In an instant the albino bander was still and quiet, curled submissively in Millie's arms as it tried to avoid the gaze of the ghostly familiar. It needed none of the quiet reassurances Millie offered, but she offered them anyway before peering up at the shop owner and smiling brightly. She held the now-docile bander up for display and grinned.
"Thank you very much, Mister."
The Golfam Hound made a series of guttural noises that appeared to be the attempts of first shock, and then fury, but Millie had lightly pranced out of the room before any of them could properly make it off of his tongue. It took all of Millie's willpower not to giggle until she left the shop.
Outside, Remi arched a brow in surprise as Millie and Qwin slipped back out with the Bander. That was a real steal, wasn't it? And the shopkeeper didn't look happy. "I'd suggest you move back out onto the open street. I don't think you've made any friends with him." Remi snickered softly.

Qwin was sorely tempted to chuckle. The look on the man's face seemed to disagree with the notion. She quickly slipped out of the store alongside of her sister. Remi's comment almost fell on deaf ears as she kept an eye on the shop keeper. Zane had calculated that his adorable children would run off. So he had sent his summonable Mome to properly watch him. Though it was disgruntled most of the time when it had to deal the anything other than him, he had managed to train it to do a few things. Sampo had been sitting on the steps of shop near by, watching to see if anything that he had taught was "dangerous" to show up. When he had seen the brightly colored boy he had hastily skittered off to his owner. Biting down on one of the sparrows toes, the King cut his meeting short. He showed up when the shop keeper was leaving the building that his daughters were still standing in front of. His feathers ruffled as kept his Mome on his shoulder. "What is going on here?"
