Millie didn't need the ferret boy's instructions to know that she wasn't going to stand around outside his shop and gloat. He didn't seem the sort to just sit back and allow that sort of thing and, more importantly, they had been gone longer than 'just a second' and with each moment behind them they were risking Daddy discovering they were not where they had said they would be.
Millie didn't want to worry Daddy.
Before Millie could make it more than a few steps away from the shop, however, the door flung open and Mr. Nasty Shopkeeper was storming out afterward. Millie made a tiny chirp of surprise but was relieved (and horrified) to hear Daddy arrive on the scene. Uh-oh.
The shopkeeper had just flung open the door, his hackles raised and his teeth bared, when the blue and red avian appeared at the entrance of the alley. His ears flattened back, unsure if the man was talking to the children or him but he answered anyway: "These little brats, stole that there Bander from me!"
Remi's ears flattened back a little and his fur fluffed up as he heard someone else enter the scene. One adult he could potentially handle, especially an idiot like the shopkeeper appeared to be, but he didn't really feel like sticking around dealing with what appeared to be the girls' father. Remi vanished in the shadows before shopkeeper managed to spit out his 'defense' against the terrible little girls.

Qwin watched everything fall apart. She hadn't wanted Dad to show up, and she hadn't expected the boy to suddenly disappear as well. Oh this was just absolutely spectacular wasn't it? "Daddy, the man made a bet with Mille and said that she could take the Bander if she could tame it," she said quietly with watery eyes.
Zane ushered the girls behind him with a motion, putting himself between them and the shopkeeper. He had taken a quick look at the creature that was held in her daughter's arms. It was plain as day to see that it was sickly and that this bastard shouldn't be spelling Bandersnatches at all.
"Really?" Zane said to the man, his feathers fluffing up slightly and his large leathery wings flaring. He knew that his daughters would never steal, even without Qwin's explanation. "I think you're lying, sir. And if you want to report this to the police I would be more than happy the go and get one of the proper authorities. However judging from your wonderful establishment I imagine you barely meet the business regulations."
He would have wrinkled his beak in disgust if it was possible Instead he cracked his talons and smiled at the shopkeeper. Was he really going to attack a King of Spades? "And you look like your hemorrhaging money. So I imagine my daughter is doing a favor taking the bander off your hands."
The mome hissed at the shopkeeper, eyes narrowed and ready to jump at a moments notice. It could feel the sparrows tension with every word.

Millie took Qwin's lead and nodded passionately as she pressed herself firmly to her Father's leg. Daddy was already firmly on their side, but it could never hurt to reinforce their innocence.
The Shopkeeper scowled viciously at the girls and his fur bristled even further once they turned tearful eyes upon him. HA! Those brats had been snake-tongued little swindlers 10 seconds before Daddy showed up! But before he could open his mouth in protest the bat-winged Avian had started in on him.
The wolf shrank back and a deep frown carved itself upon his once indignant maw. There was nothing he could rebuke in that and the man poised himself with far too much authority than the shopkeeper wanted to question.
"Ghh... Yeah, that's right... 'dem girls are doin' me a favor takin' that beast." He waved a hand, shrinking back to his shop. "No protestin' from me. Have a good day now, hope this misunderstandin' can be put behind us." He smile was too apologetic as he shut the door behind him and flipped the 'open' sign to 'closed'. It was just one sick bander. Pride or not, it just wasn't worth getting his whole establishment shut down.
Millie grinned a little to herself, cuddling Mr. Spooky against her chest as the bander made a soft, mildly irritated, noise but accepted the child's affection.

Zane waited a moment as he watched the man leave. He didn't want to turn his back when he could potentially get attacked. Though the man didn't seem to want to put up a fight. That was a relief.
The little Mome on his shoulder huffed a bit before Zane lightly scratched it under the chin and dismissed the little creature. He looked down to the girls who were hiding behind him and the sickly looking bander. Oh great. A new pet he would end up having to take care of. Thankfully Nila was a well mannered bander and would probably not try to tear the little albino apart.
"When we get home we're going to have a nice little chat about responsibility girls," He said with a small sigh.
Qwin tried not to frown. She understood what her Daddy was getting at, but it didn't mean she had to like it. "Thanks Daddy." She said in a half hearted whisper.
He patted both of the girls on the head. One day he would get this parenthood thing right.
