Her voice seemed to grow softer as she considered his words, how gentlemanly. "Very admirable of you, most can't even say that. I also try to be the best person I can, though I've found choices in my life hard to make. I often sacrifice my own happiness for the sake of others, which goes against my earlier statement. I mean, one does have to love themself to be a good person." She considered this for a moment, and felt pain like the press of hot metal in a wound. Ouch, did this ever make her feel like an idiot for some of her actions and statements recently. She hadn't been as good of a person as she wanted to because she hadn't been good to herself, and now she'd gotten selfish.
She watched his reaction curiously as she spoke, he seemed to be fighting some inner demons as he listened to her speak, and it was almost enough to make her stop. Curious as she was, though, she wanted to see what he would say when she came to silence. Of course, even in her wildest dreams she couldn't have fathomed what would come next. As he lept from his spot across from her, she didn't jump or recoil, but merely sat still with shock. She looked down at his form, shivering either from cold or emotion, and allowed a single tear to slip down her cheek. Why was it that the kindest people seemed to suffer? She could only imagine what he'd been through.
"It's okay, everything happens for a reason." She whispered the words against the sea blue of his mane, wings pulling in tight around them both to create a shield from the cold. "You're freezing." She stated simply as she wiggled her arms out just enough to hold him in return. This felt nice, just... being touched by someone who cared, sharing a moment of pain, as terrible as it sounded, it gave her some sort of release she'd been needing. Though part of it still lingered and always would. She was of the many who had a hole to fill, so many torn deep into her heart.
She didn't want to speak, didn't want to break the silence or the comfort inside the protective and warm shell of her wings, not until they were both ready. She didn't know if she could take it, to be given such comfort and have it taken away from her. For once in her life, she just didn't want to be alone.
