There was nothing he could do. Nothing he could do! He stood there, watching, as the impossibly-portioned thing tumbled in midair with the doctor. She was screaming. Screaming! The monster shook his head, looked distracted for a moment, but continued slicing his way through her skull. What could he do? What could he do!?
His jaw opened wide in a grimace as they suddenly tumbled down… down down down… Dr. Zenon’s claws brushed Rosewood’s head as they jolted upwards again, lost in a tangle of fur and limbs. Farran’s eyes were bugging as far as they could, his face contorted in a grimace as he watched. He couldn’t be sure it was his curse or something else that caused the thing’s disruption – the tove had proved more useful than he.
The creature swung the two of them onto the rooftop, near the entrance Zenon had wormed through what seemed like years ago. It wielded that deadly scalpel again, and the Corvie shrieked. It seemed to heave, convulse, then shoved a white piece under it’s strange helm. What the hell was it doing?! Zenon was bleeding all along her skull. Oh gods…
Rosewood summed the situation up in a few brief words. Despite his dislike for the swan, Farran felt himself being drawn after the Tulgey, limping as he attempted to stay off his injured leg. There was wetness along his eyes. He rubbed an absent-minded right-handed paw across his face. He’d been crying? Out of fear, out of surprise, out of the knowledge that there was absolutely nothing he could do to help the people that had stuck with him this long. Following blindly behind Rosewood, he uttered lamely, Is… is she going to be okay?

Arkady stood, frozen to the spot, as the gruesome battle played out in midair. His eyes were wide as the creature seemed to shake off his spell, and though the Tove hurt him for sure, it just seemed to make him angrier. Ark whimpered as the thing and the doctor crashed into the police station. Bile rose in the back of his throat. There was so much -blood- and...and had that thing just eaten part of Zenon?! Arkady felt himself trembling, eyes glued to the sight of the horrid nightmare as it left the doctor for dead...
Rosewood's remark brought him crashing back to reality, and his head jerked over towards the Swan, eyes still wide and whole body trembling even as his blood rushed from adrenaline. He nodded jerkily, and nearly yelped when something red and white floated into his vision before he realized it was just Dima...waiting for further orders. He swallowed and picked up the two gifts from Piers, handing them carefully to the Tove from where they'd been on the ground while Rosewood searched the first aid kit. Dima held them both in his arms, and it being made into a beast of burden bothered him, he gave no sign. Arkady forced his stiff, shaky legs to follow the Swan and Farran away from the mess...trying not to look at the poor Doctor. His Tove followed, eerily silent. The Coyote didn't even have the presence of mind to worry about the ghostly trees that were suddenly in the area where no forest had ever been.

The doctor felt her feet brush against someone's head as she fell, feeling almost weightless before her magic caught her again, bringing them both up. A scream, only half-born, squeezed its way from her throat as something sharp drove into her ear, tearing out a fleshy chunk and slicing down across her head, barely missing her eye. Headwounds bled worst of all, and her blood was going everywhere, hot drops flying down and spattering the people down below. She thought, distantly, that would make a terrible stain on Rosewood, but she was having a hard time focusing on anything.
Even being awake felt like a distant thing.
She realized that there was something straining against her flight, and she pulled against it - but her magic just wasn't strong enough, her concentration utterly shot. It was a small miracle that she was even able to stay in the air, her instinct goading her higher into the sky. She had to escape, had to...
She saw the stabbing out of the corner of her eye and screamed fully, body convulsing as she felt the metal lodge into her head. Something was taken. Bone, from her skull. She wondered how deep the wound was, if he had damaged the sac surrounding her brain, if she was going to be killed or - worse - somehow mentally damaged by all of this. When she was released, she almost immediately shot away from the long figure, then slowly floated towards the ground.
A ragged sob escaped her as she landed, blood pouring from her multiple wounds.

Rosewood paused in mid-step at Farran's question. Well, she had a chunk of her head missing and was bleeding profusely. He only had one working hand to sew her up and he only had the basics of medical knowledge because of a roommate he had back in college. He could answer truthfully, but maybe he should let the stupid cat have his delusion. "She'll be fine," he stated as he went to the woman's aide.
At least it wasn't a crash landing. Though there was quite a bit of blood. He swallowed hard trying not to think about his own pain and the large amount of gore that he was staring at. "Doctor, I need to take a look at your head and see if I can sew things up so... please don't trash," he said in the softest voice he could muster. They needed to do this fast just in case the thing came back, but he needed to be careful. There was a needle in thread in the kit, but of course he had to do everything with one hand.
And he was still covered in a bit of nastiness from Piers. Suits, these were not ideal conditions.
He paused when he noticed that Farran was also bleeding. Missing toes actually. "Arkady, do you think you can bandage Farran quickly while I take care of the Doctor?" He snapped up the thread with his beak and started his delicate balancing act to thread the needle. The pain was making it very difficult to concentrate on threading a needle.

((The back door to the Police station suddenly slammed back open as the monster slid out, long limbs only able to stretch to their fullest once it was outside again. It paused for a second...thin chest heaving, then doubled over for a moment, a small choked noise being pushed from it, before it shrank. Horrible, bone-cracking sounds tore from it as its entire figure collapsed inward and ballooned outward horribly. Only a few seconds later, and a duplicate of the doctor stood before them, it raised hand-like claws, flexing them and grinning before it flapped the wings hard.
Shooting up into the air, the creature twirls and flips, braking out a caw of delight and soaring around the station in multiple circles. It then hovers over Rosewood, flapping hard, aims, and drops like a stone.))

The swan had been cross eyed trying to thread the needle when the monster burst out of the Police station. Apparently he should have run instead of helping his fellow Card. His mouth opened, the needle dropping to the floor as he stared as the thing seemed to fold in on itself and then looked like it was going to explode.
The Doctor was standing there. Though she was very much still in front of him bleeding.
Oh no no no, that was just a myth right? This couldn't actually be happening right?
Rosewood stared in disbelief as the thing took to the air. What was it doing exactly? It looked like it was having fun pretending to be something it was not. It was flying around like the Doctor and it... it was dropping like a stone towards him.
The swan shrieked and unbecoming obscenity as he scrambled to get out of the way (15). He needed to run. He needed to run somewhere that wasn't here. The thing was clearly after him! It had looked at him earlier. He dropped what he was holding and grabbed the binding that Piers had left him with his good hand. It wasn't going to do him any good against something that could snap his wrist like a twig, but it made him feel better at least.
Suits, he was going to die.

Farran padded along, moisture leaking silently down his face. A slight frown flittered along his features, muddling the look of absolute shock. It didn’t look like the doctor was going to be okay – she was bleeding everywhere.
He looked up to catch the Corvie slowly descending to earth, as she landed, an anguished cry shook her battered frame. That cry… Farran found himself bolting toward the doctor as soon as the plaintive sound escaped her beak, momentarily forgetting his own injuries. He cursed, stumbling a bit as pain seared through his front left limb, then continued an awkward, disjointed hobble until he reached the bird.
He didn’t really want to touch her, knowing nothing about medical procedure and afraid to hurt her, but he wanted her to know he was there. It seemed important that she know that.
It’s going to be okay, Dr. Zenon.
No, it probably wasn’t. What they really needed right now was a doctor, and as much as it pained him to think it, they really needed a Corvie doctor.
After Rosewood gave directions for Arkady to help Farran bandage his arm he settled uneasily on his rump, as close as he could to the others without getting in the way. The feline clearly hadn’t had time to do anything but a hasty job himself and might've bungled it with only one good hand.
Arkady was rifling through the first aid kit when a loud crash echoed in the police yard. Farran’s eyes widened as the door to the station exploded outward and the monster unfolded into the yard. It was breathing heavily. Then, without warning, a sickening series of cracks emanated from the thing as its body contorted and bubbled outward.
Then there was another Dr. Zenon.
Farran’s mouth dropped open, aghast, as it grinned evilly and took to the air, doing loop de loops and flapping about.
Abruptly switching directions, it dropped like a stone aimed for Rosewood.
Farran tried to scream as he lunged forward to push the Tulgey out of the way (16), bumping him roughly before turning his face to the sky. He slashed upward and across the air, aiming for the impostor’s belly (19!!!), then without waiting, jabbed hastily towards where he hoped its head would be (12).
WHY DON'T YOU FUCKING DIE!!??
His blood was boiling, teeth gritted so hard it was straining the muscles in his jaw. What the hell did this thing want and why wouldn’t it leave them alone!!?? The feline hovered awkwardly on his hind legs, scalpel raised in his good front hand.
((Oh man, Farran. You on a roll, little buddy! Kari - maybe Rosewood won't hate him so much after this? LOL!))

Upon realizing no one was actually ready to leave the scene yet (and how could they when they were so hurt?) Arkady stopped walking, his Tove halting and hovering at the same time. His ears twitched but it took him a moment to realize Rosewood had spoken. He nodded, swallowing. Right. Farran's paw was a mess, but at least Ark sort of kind of knew where to start. Maybe. He padded over to the first aid kit and started poking through it, finding bandages and picking them up carefully in his teeth, trying to avoid letting them touch his tongue or anything else unsanitary, and then turned to go back towards Farran when something BURST out of the police station. The monster again! Arkady tensed, muscles bunching, and beside him his Tove tilted his head slightly, waiting for orders. The Coyote watched in horror as the monster turned into Dr. Zenon, or a reasonable facsimile thereof, and the bandages fell out of his mouth as he whimpered. Desperately he tried to search his mind for something, ANYTHING, that might help, as the large Card plummeted toward the group. He found himself calling to mind an ability that pushed all the fear out, and he bared his teeth, growling low, and rushed toward the monster, his Tove at his heels. He took a flying leap, attempting to hit the monster's leg and snag it in his teeth. ((rolled 18 wow)) Dima, the Tove, tried to club the monster with his tail again, aiming for the wing. ((20??? my dice adore me. )) Piers's Binding: This iron spike is about three to four feet long and feels in heft like a javelin. When touched, it gives the owner a sudden tingling feeling that fades after a few seconds. Once a week, they are now able to summon up a strong sense of courage, even in situations that normally would cower them completely.

((The creature made what was very nearly an amusingly baffled sound as its intended prey rolled a bit and was then knocked violently out of the way. It twisted in an attempt to flip after him... and it fell onto its own weapon, as Farran brought it up to meet him. The scalpel sliced deeply into one of the new wings, leaving it hanging by shreds of loose white-corded tendon and hot spurts of blood. The thing collapsed on top of Farran, shrieking in complete agony, and slashing out at him with desperate and fierce talons (11). Managing to free one arm, it slams it down with incredible force on Farran's face, digging the claws in and then tearing as best it could, screaming all the while. (15) Shrieking, disregarding damage it may have gained, it then dragged itself off of the Cat and heaved at Rosewood again. As Farran fought the thing, he caught a glimpse of thick, dark stitches ringing the back of its head, they were black and blended with the copy-doctor's feathers, but they looked old and clean.
Flailing and screaming, its body makes a horrific crunching sound as it changes back into its original form, blood and wounds gone, save the bruise on its neck. The creature rears its weapon again, flicking the scalpel out of a pocket, ready to plunge it into the Cat when the Tove zoomed in! Its tail connected directly into the creatures neck again and it slumps over backward, gasping. Teeth then sank into its leg, and it twitched no sound coming from it as it raised a long arm and hand. It didn't even have to sit up, grabbing the Coyote shakily, it picked him up... And threw him. The Tove then zoomed back in and attacked the monsters neck, sensible enough to avoid the masked head it can't get to. The thing raked and bit viciously...until the long fingers made a snatch for it...(16)))

Rosewood had not expected to be pushed at all. He let out a confused honk and suddenly found himself on the ground (9). He had honestly hoped that everyone would have cut their losses and scattered. It would have made sense considering they were dealing with something that could shape shift. Instead he was now laying with half his face in the ground and he could hear the attacks and screaming that were going on behind him.
He pulled himself up on his good half (16) just in time to see that the thing was lunging for him again. Except there was suddenly a horrible crunching sound as it snapped back to what it had been previously. This was nothing but chaos. This was all senseless violence. He reached for the binding with his good hand and tried to think straight. The pain was still bothering him and he was still watching the battle and doing nothing more than being in the way. He watched in terror as the thing just threw the Coyote like he was nothing.
He activated the ability, the burst of courage was just what he needed to clear his head. An idea popped into his mind and he pulled himself to his feet (20). Puffing up to his fullest in hopes that he would at least be a little more intimidating. Piers was a person. What made this monster any different?
Ultimately it didn't matter because children were getting hurt because of him. It was time to stand up and do something. Even if that something involved a world of pain. He let go of the iron spike. It wasn't going to do him any good.
"Children would you all shut up and behave yourselves!" he snarled as he reached out to do something incredibly stupid and grab at the creature's suit (19). Considering how tall it was he didn't think he could properly reach something to get a decent grip. He would take what he could get to get it's attention. "Stop terrorizing them. If you want me, just take me, and leave them out of it. They're just children."
Yep. He was going to die tonight. Hopefully Rogers wasn't at home waiting for him.

(( OOC: If it weren't for Arkady, Rosewood would not have done something so stupid, just so you all know. ))
