"Rabbits are real?" Kendra looked at the small struggling creature skeptically. "It would appear so." She admitted after a moment, answering her own question. How very bizarre. "I think going inside would be... advisable."
The girl frowned again at the bunny, who seemed to be tiring slightly, but still struggled bravely against her captor. At his question, she extended her paws toward Alicia, then pulled them back with a squeak, her eyes going wide as a pair of sharp little teeth snapped just inches from her paw. "Um... I don't have long legs like you." She looked to Kaden somewhat bashfully.
Alicia did, in fact, speak perfect common, and the disdainful gleam in her eyes when addressed by the bird probably made this reasonably clear. Her frantic squirming diminished somewhat, and she was silent for a long moment, as if she wasn't sure she would deign to speak to cards. The leveret's struggling ceased, her small body heaved in a sigh, and, in a voice that was both haughty and deeply defeated, "Alicia, of the warren of Czar Vikenti."
"It can talk, even! Fascinating." Kendra paused as Jordon stormed up to see what they had captured. So much for keeping their find a secret! "Let's get it inside before anyone else sees!" The young corvie hissed, looking around the area. Luckily, no one else seemed to be anywhere around. "We should make sure Ms. Brandy is okay, too. It looks like she fainted, and that could be a sign of all manner of nasty conditions. I wonder if someone inside could help us get her to a bed?"
She eyed the colorful bulk of the sleeping yarrow. Goodness, equine bipeds were big, and seemed unlikely that even the three of them could easily carry her. With any luck, help would be only a few feet away. Now, how to get the rabbit inside without being seen?

The marten's head was spinning. What in the hell was going on in this stupid place? The completely abandoned hotel was freaky, sure. Her traveling companion just falling the shit asleep right outside was damn strange. But mythical creatures just popping up and hopping all over the place, showing off exactly how wrong they were with every stupid flop of their stupid floppy ears?
That was just going too damn far.
She shook herself in an attempt to get her grounding back, but when she opened her eyes again the Rabbit was still there. Welp. It looked like she was gonna have to come to terms with this, then, since it didn't seem to be planning on vanishing in a puff of smoke (after all, maybe she was still dreaming - or that weird smell in the Capital had been drug-related and she was currently high as a kite), and her companions seemed focused on keeping the thing secure. Time to step up.
"Dere's no one in dere. Bring it in, yeah? I bet I can be findin' us some keys. My folk's... my business supplies dis place wit' fish, if dey come back an' get pissed I'll deal wit' em.[/b]" Her expression went grave for a moment, then she laughed. "We'll deal wit' Brandy once dat one's been settled in, ya?[/b]" She pointed at the Rabbit.

Oh.. okay. This was better and worse and all sorts of awkward in between. The rabbit tried to take a chunk out of Kendra's hand, but ultimately surrendered and introduced herself (for which Kaden was quite thankful). "Thank you for not struggling anymore, Alicia." He knew this was a very undignified thing to do to a person and if Marchie was a person (however insane) this Rabbit definitely was one was well.
Still... Still. This was too incredibly rare of an opportunity to pass up.
He clucked his beak nervously as Jordan approached, obviously distraught at the sight of a Rabbit as well as her unconscious friend and, it would seem, the entire staff had up and vanished? None of this sounded remotely good, but Kendra and Jordan took care of all the little nitpicky details about what to do and where to go fairly quickly. Thank the suits! He could focus on what he did best: be a good lacky.
The muttbird couldn't help but grin at the Benyan woman's grave expression. She seemed like she could really give you hell given the chance, and he almost found himself hoping she would be. "Aye. Sounds good." He scampered inside as he was told, careful not to jerk the poor rabbit in his talons around too much, and scanned the lobby upon arriving. He paused at the front desk, eyeing the splattered ink with concern.
"What do you think happened here?" He muttered, more to himself than any of his companions though they were free to speculate.

Snore. Twitch. Not a very 'feminine' snore at all. He gave a very loud snort and a jerk before he showed signs of waking. Ugh.. what had happened? Perhaps it was his blood sugar. All he remembered was walking and then.. Well. At least it was a fitful little nap. People were talking, asking what happened.. but they weren't talking about him. Sitting up, he rubbed some sleep out of his eyes and stared up at the speaking people.
Then stared at the strange Highlander child. Or rather, it looked a bit like one. He stared for a moment, rather forgetting his manners. "Oh dear… did someone lose a child?"
What a strange child indeed. It looked part goat.. or maybe donkey. Goodness.. who knew? He pulled himself warily to his feet and made a point to fan himself. "I say.. I think I need a little nibble to get my blood sugar up."

((The apparently deserted inn suddenly seems to have a staff member! A small, Selkie/Josiggy Mouse, her eyes dazed and slightly out of focus, steps out of the dining area and asks them quietly if they want a room. She doesn't seem to see or acknowledge Alicia and just gives them handfuls of keys and wanders away again. If you try to follow her...she will have vanished... Might want to try some of those keys out. Looks like you can get the best rooms!))

Kendra looked around the nearly deserted inn, curious as to why it should be so empty during a perfectly pleasant day. The climate in Selkie Lakes was such that there were usually at least a few tourists around, even in the off season. She wasn't any expert in either weather or tourism, but something about the whole situation seemed... off. There was ink spilled on the desk, as if some slob had tipped a bottle over and then just left the mess there. She wandered over and dipped just the tip of one claw in the dark substance, then wiped it on a dry bit of the desk's stained blotter paper. Ugh, some cards could be so...
At least there seemed to be one staff member in the place. Kendra's thoughts were interrupted when the mouse appeared, and she accepted a room graciously. Instead of one key and a room assignment, the ferret received handfuls of them, much to her confusion. "Wierd..." She muttered, raising an eyebrow and looking to Kaden for his reaction. "I want some of whatever she's having." It was a joke, of course, for the receptionist, or whatever she was, didn't seem to be especially enjoying her trip, although her eyes did look suspiciously glazed.
"Do you think we should just try all the doors, or...?" The mouse seemed to vanish while she had been looking at her handful of keys. "Very weird." She was repeating herself, something she tried not to make a habit of, but she felt a strange impulse to fill the odd, utter silence of the place. She stared at the keys a moment more, than brightened. "Come on, let's see if we can unlock the VIP suite!" They might as well, as the mouse had asked for no payment, or even names, and seemed unlikely to return and do so.
Since having spoken her name, Alicia appeared to be sulking, or possibly just deeply bewildered since she had very little notion of the social structure of cards, and the concept of an 'inn' eluded her. She hadn't dignified Kaden's thanks with a response, since she doubted any pleas for freedom would be worth her effort. Everyone knew that cards were ruthless beasts, and her best bet was to bide her time until she devised a trick which could win her freedom or buy time for an escape.

Whatever curiosity he had for the "child" was quickly washed away by the sudden presence of a staff. He'd attempted to ask them questions, but they had rather blatantly ignored him, instead dumping a handful of keys in hands he quickly had to hold up to catch the offering. Were these…. keys to rooms?
Perhaps he should have been suspicious.
But who really wanted to do that when they essentially had their pick of the rooms?
"My thoughts exactly!" Brandy almost whinnied a laugh at Kendra's enthusiasm, dusting himself off and heading toward the door of the hotel to go find himself a proper room. Perhaps there was a suite with some nice down filled pillows? He'd go about and try out the keys, choosing to look toward any keys that looked "special" or overly unique. Nicer rooms were usually window rooms or on a higher level, so he'd look there. He'd get a room fit for a princess for sure!

As luck would have it, the Horse woke up without her help! Feeling oddly satisfied, Jordan grinned to herself, shaking her head. Things were certainly looking up. At least - they were, until the woman appeared. The Marten did her best to manage to summon up some of the outrage she'd been feeling before, to demand answers, but she didn't have a chance to ask. "OI! Oi, you dere! Where de hell do ya tink you're goin', now?![/b]" she shouted, jumping to her feet and following after. "What's goin' on here? We need some answers![/b]"
There was that indignant rage! It bubbled up inside her and she frowned most seriously at - at nothing. "What in de FUCK?![/b]"
Taking a careful moment to be sure of what she'd seen, Jordan was able to verify that the woman was just... Gone. With a blank expression on her face she stepped back out, blinking. How to put this? "Well, might as well make de best of tings...[/b]" she finally said, shaking herself. The woman had probably just gone off down a hallway or.... or something. She nodded quietly in response to the decision to find a VIP room, still feeling shaken by what she hadn't seen, and forced a smile.
"I tink it be best for us to stick together, ya?[/b]" she asked as she made her way up the stairs, glancing back at the others.

Kaden's eyes went wide as the newly awakened Brandy wandered back in and, almost simultaneously, a Selkie/Josiggy mouse wandered in. Brandy, groggy though she was, was immediately aware of Alicia but the mouse... she seemed to look through everything. Kaden's moment of clear panic faded in awkward confusion as he stood back, just watching the bizarre events play out.
She distributed keys with careless abandon until Brandy and Kendra had handfuls of keys and then just walked way.
Kendra's decision to find a VIP room was met with enthusiasm from Brandy and Kaden was never one to pass up an opportunity to get something free. He grinned broadly before turning to notice Jordan slinking back. She looked like maybe she'd seen a ghost, or something of a similarly unsettling sort.
This was turning out all too much like the weirdness of the Capital. Could the weird stretch all the way out here? From Jordan's reaction, he had a painful feeling it was all too similar. Nevertheless, he flashed her a brilliant grin that reflected none of his secret concerns. "That sounds like a wonderful plan." The more the merrier... and the less likely anyone's toe will be bitten off by strange monsters.
At last they arrived at the top level and Kaden watched eagerly as the 'girls' tried their keys against the doors.

Illyria had been so focused on her burgeoning panic attack that she hadn't noticed anything at all out of the ordinary until everything was so uniformly wrong that it hit her like a cold splash of water to the face. They had just been walking, walking away from the Mayor and from Sophie's mom who certainly wanted her dead, and suddenly they were back--here. She sucked in a quick, shallow breath and turned to make sure Sophie was still there beside her, and she was, and the sight was comforting but not enough to stave off hyperventilating. The little leaves on her tree trembled; the remaining fruit (that the Queen had eaten, the Queen who wanted her dead) swung from side to side. Everything had officially become Too Disruptive. She could feel herself approaching total system failure. She could not, for the life of her, shake the thought that the Queen was going to suddenly appear and tear off her face, and to compound it there was this--reality warp--time warp-- Something awful. Lyr shook and tried to breathe. A gaggle of people were rushing in to the inn. Her eyes widened. "Sophie," she said. She had a thought somewhere in there but she couldn't complete it. "Sophie--" (Xenon and I wander in! )
