This was all terribly discouraging. What did he mean it wouldn't be enough?
The rabbit wrinkled her nose as she found herself following the pair. The Corvie seemed to be a sweet person, at least. It was nice of him to tell her the truth.
It was difficult for her to comprehend the fact that she was pregnant. The more she moved the more her body reminded her of the fact. There was something horrible and unnatural about all of it. About everything. Why was she walking around like this.
She glanced down at the stairs, hesitating to follow. But of course she did. If she tried to run away she wouldn't make it very far. And at least she could be potentially dry? That would be nice. Some place warm and dry. Someplace where she could feel a bit safer. Guh. She wanted to be sick all over the place.

Though the tunnel itself was fairly short, the walk seemed to take forever when combined with the remaining factors of the day. He was wet, cranky, and though he didn't like to admit it: he was worried about his court. What in all the suits could be going on?
The emptiness was wrong and the magic that was holding him back from attending to his duties as Queen was infuriating.
Likewise, the situation with his dying rabbit (he'd been listening, though nothing in his body language would suggest he was) was only making the sense of urgency all the greater. They needed to get into the palace if only to get to the infirmary and they couldn't even do that.
At last the tunnel came to an end and Wulfram stepped up to the cellar doors, unlocking them with the key he had used to enter the trap door before motioning the two up the stairs. "After you." His attention was primarily on the Doe, silently willing her to not drop dead on him. "There should be some towels in the cupboard to your left," he added to the Corvie as he headed in after them. "Grab them for me."

The rabbit could feel her insides shifting in unpleasant ways. She was fairly certian that this was not how things were supposed to go when one was pregnant. And she was pained when they finally reached the cellar stairs.
Stairs. Evil.
With a heavy sigh the rabbit nodded and carefully hopped up the stairs into the cellar. Hopped over to a corner that was out of the way.
The world felt like it was spinning as she flopped down on her rump. She brushed a bit of her soaking wet mane out of her face as she leaned back against a the wall. Was she getting bigger? Was that possible? How could someone get bigger by the moment?
She looked at the two men with a rather pitiful expression that was mixed with terror and confusion. "I don't think... this is how things are supposed to go." She said rather flatly.

"It's not," he said, and bit his lip. He grabbed a few towels from the cupboard the Queen had pointed to and took them directly over to the woman, offering a couple to her to get a little of the wet out. He thought they might serve a purpose other than getting them all dry--if his eyes weren't playing tricks on him, the woman looked even closer to birth than she had before, and if worse came to worst they could use the towels as bedding, to help care for however many babies were born, and to clean up the aftermath.
He didn't think this was going to be very clean.
"Do you--do you feel any contractions? Like the baby is coming at all?" If they could get her to some palace infirmary--or get supplies and bring them here--there might be something to move the labor along. There was also the possibility of cutting the baby out, but he was no surgeon, and that would be deadly without equipment, especially without sterilization.

(( Vyn? Just a question, but how does Wulfram know everything that's going on if he hasn't talked to anyone inside yet? Sorry, just didn't know if they spoke off the board.)) Before the Rabbit can answer, she'll feel her insides contract and writhe, something is growing...much much more rapidly than it should be, expanding horribly and causing her body to stretch painfully to its utmost limits.
Though she can writhe and scream all she likes, there doesn't seem to be any help for it, her body is ripping apart slowly. Over the course of about 5 minutes, her belly will tear outward, horrible snapping and ripping sounds accompanying the dissolution of firm flesh as something spills out onto the floor. There's no saving the mess that was the Rabbit, she'll be dead soon.
The creature that spilled out will wriggle feebly on the floor. pitiful and...oddly..older looking, 18 it would seem.ID: SD453 Name: ---- Suit: Spades Rank: Seven Gender: Female Animal: Bird (Puffin) Region: Torquehelm Dealer: Vyn or Kari? Can't remember who was supposed to have her. Parents: Fleur x NPC Notes: This strange little girl came out fully formed at 18 years of age, verifiably an adult. Her binding rolled out with her and she has full knowledge of the realm of Torquehelm, basic cultural practices, speech of the common tongue, and the most basic of schooling. She is otherwise an newborn. Terrified of what she knows she just caused and of what it means. She is aware that she is a Card born from a Rabbit, something that should not be. Her Rabbit ear mutation is testament to her birth, an off thing to see on any creature, though most would have no idea of what it means or looks akin to. The mutation can only be passed on by a roll of the dice and cannot be commissioned. Basic Magical Ability: She can run up to 40mph in sprints and 5mph for up to an hour in extended runs. Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, she can see black-and-white clearly in the dark. This can be activated and deactivated at will. Should she look at a moderate to bright light with this ability activated, however, she will experience intense pain and be left with a splitting headache for up to one day. There doesn't seem to be any way for those trapped in the basement to get to the upper levels of the Palace, trying to exit onto the upper levels will result in the entire group ending up back outside in the rain. Does anyone have any useful items? Or perhaps a plan of what to do? Maybe going to the Court of Hearts is a good idea after all, after all there could be someone there to help...even though that is awfully far away.~Nathalia

(Eep! Sorry about that, Nat. Yeah, I spoke to Lucca via chat and discussed the little exchange between Wulfram and Colin.<3)
Wulfram was directly behind Zeki and Fleur... or, rather, he would've been.
Instead the Queen found himself trapped just off of the stairs, staring in fury at the room that was magically beyond his reach. The crows feathers fluffed up, his eyes narrowed into murderous slits. Why was he unable to enter his Palace?!! He had probably answered his own question there. He was a Spade, his companions were not. The crow cursed violently in Tulgey as he balled his hands into fists.
"I em apparently unable to enter my court." His voice came out thin between clenched teeth, barely containing the rage that was building in his red eyes. "You vill take care ov her. Use what you can within the cellar. There will be medical su --" Wulfram stopped mid-sentence, eyes widening in shock as the Rabbit suddenly began to writhe and expand before his eyes.
The Corvie was right, this was not going to end well. He cursed again, furious at his own helplessness to the situation. The cursed Rabbit was going to die on him.

Fleur was about to open her mouth in reply when she as suddenly stricken with pain. Her head jerked backwards, smashing into the wall behind her. But the pain in her lower was unlike anything she had ever experience, and was far more overwhelming than the pain in her head.
Five minutes was a very long time. Especially considering the circumstances. Her body was slowly tearing itself apart and she couldn't escape from the pain.
And then something gave way. For a moment the rabbit thought the pain had stopped, but in reality her body stomach had completely split and the creature had flopped out on the floor. Fleur gurgled for a few moments as she stared blankly at the gore that used to be her.
Oh, that was unfortunate.
A strangled sound escaped the rabbit as she tried to say something.
The little creature on the floor slowly sat up, its long ears pressed against its head as it looked up at the Corvie. The full grown card looked terribly pathetic covered in gore. Er, what was it supposed to do at a time like this? "Uh...Hello?"

Zeki had only begun to steel himself for the probability that he was going to have to help deliver this child in a cellar when the entire thing came falling out of the sky at once and buried him under the weight of mind-numbing terror and confusion. First it appeared that the Queen was going to be unable to help at all. And then the woman just ruptured, like a fault line, and there was nothing he could do. No surgical knife pulled from the small store of supplies could do anything against what the--what the child was already doing. He managed to find a syringe and some painkillers and administered it, but it did nothing to stop her pain.
Finally, amid a slew of wrecked internal mush, the child gushed out. Large. Covered in blood and bloody slime. The only continuity between mother and child were the ears, and Zeki stared at her for a long moment, uncomprehending and mute, as she picked herself up off the floor. The mother was dead. Checking vitals would only make him nauseated. The gore was proof enough.
A newborn shouldn't be able to speak but somehow this one could. Greeted him as though he were a random fellow cafe patron who had accidentally looked at her too long.
He grabbed a towel. "Hi," he said. He fell back on pure reflexive helpfulness and Corvie weirdness acclimation. That was the only explanation for it. Actually, there was another one, that he had finally gone totally and irretrievably insane, but this seemed too horrifically real for surreal madness. "Welcome to the world. We should clean you up."

Screaming. The Rabbit's pain would've usually been delightful to the sadistic crow but in this moment it only furthered his horrible frustration. Within minutes she expanded beyond all reason, her screams reaching an ear-splitting pitch, and then she burst.
In that moment the whole world fell into silence, his fury of his precious monster dying fizzling out entirely as he saw the abomination that rolled out of the Rabbit's gore. If it weren't for the long Rabbit ears, she could have been a perfect Card and she was Torquehelm, binding and all. The crow stepped forward instinctively, moving in to claim what he had already decided was his, when he collided with the invisible barrier once more.
To hell with this cursed palace! He soothed his ruffled feathers, leaning on the door frame as he watched the Corvie work. "Once you've got her cleaned up a bit, bring her out here. She shouldn't be in that gore and we need to discuss a plan." This child... fascinating and wrong. He wanted a better look at her. Then they would need to find out how to make their way out of this mess.
Had the Corvie said something of needing to get to the Court of Hearts?

Fleur only saw the form for a few moments before she slipped away. Odd. How had she given birth to a bird?
The little girl's ears twitched as the Corvie offered her a towel. She quietly thanked him as she shuffled out of the gore that used to be her mother. Oh dear. Her mother was very dead wasn't she? The puffin made a worried sound as she was cleaned up.
Her ears shot upwards at the sound of the other voice. She peered around for the source of it, to see the faint figure of the white crow. Oh, well, he was rather scary wasn't he? She looked back at the Corvie with a mildly confused expression. "Thank you...." she said after a moment. Thanks was a proper thing to say when someone helped you.
Her eyes wandered back to the crow. Why couldn't he come inside?
