((A carriage, though old and unfitting a Queen, is available in the stables. Two Aces, a Horse and a Bull, are available and should do for pulling the carriage. The ride ought to take about a day to get to the Hearts Court. There are other places you can go as well, but be careful...it's dangerous out there...
Your goal is to get to the Hearts Palace eventually and locate the Queen, Xiven. Maybe she can help you.))

He supposed it was only natural given their current run of luck and their odd circumstances that the only transportation readily available should look somewhat suspect; but looking on the bright side, it could be an awful lot worse, and the two Aces who were pulling it looked quite fit for a long, arduous journey to the Court of Hearts. He didn't even think about his own reservations about using Aces for such things. He just cared about getting there as swiftly as possible.
Wulfram took the reigns for the Aces, and Zeki drifted off into a realm of worry, sometimes engaging the girl in a little bit of conversation, but mostly preoccupied with Virtute. He didn't even notice the scenery. He just wanted to see her face, to make sure it was animated and not waning.
They'd estimated perhaps a day's journey; they were hardly into it and it already felt like they'd been rolling along for decades.
This was really not boding well for his nerves.

Well, didn't this just bring him back. Just because he'd become a Queen didn't mean he'd forgotten how to scrap along with the worst of them.
A ruddy carriage was better than nothing, though he wished the Corvie was in a better mental state. He would've preferred to use his rank to sit back in the carriage and get to better know the pretty little Puffin than to be driving a carriage in the rain, but one can't ignore the demands of necessity. He grabbed a raincoat from inside the stable, tossing it over his shoulders before he took the driver's position. They were in for a long trip, but hopefully it would be one without interruptions.
Wulfram will drive them straight out of the Court of Spades, evading the Capital by headed through Esterberry toward the Highlands. Quick, direct, all fairly well-traveled streets. Under the cover of rain and dark, they make the first leg of the journey without any unusual encounters. By the first light of dawn, they are finally approaching on a small Esterberry town.
The crow leaned over and rapped against the side of the carriage. "Hey! We're about to pass through a town. If either of you needs food or rest, we do it now and do it quickly."

The little Puffin was at a loss of what to do. The snippets of conversation provided her with with more questions than answers, and she was far too timid to ask about names and a variety of other things. So she had taken to staring out of the window and wondering about the outside world.
She had curled up on the seat and had dozed off during the long trip. When the Tulgey suddenly shouted she snapped awake. What? Town? Food? She shifted awkwardly. She was hungry. She poked her head out of the window to respond to the man, "Food would be nice, Sir."
She fidgeted uncomfortably as she pulled back inside. What would people do if they saw her? Her ears were.... she curled up on the seat and waited for the carriage to come to a proper stop. She was the first to open the door and hop out.
She would have found the silence unnerving if she had known any better. She glanced around for instructions, not really knowing what to do. Maybe she could ask the Tulgey Queen about things, even if it was only briefly.

Zeki wasn't sure what they would need rest for--riding in a carriage was one of the less physically taxing things a person could do--but he supposed it was a good idea to give the Aces a break and some food and water. Maybe the Tulgey was talking about a potty break.
He thought perhaps about nabbing something to eat, but even after going this long stretch of time without, he wasn't actually very hungry. He should probably eat something regardless. Starving himself wasn't going to make him any more fit to help Virtute.
He followed the puffin girl out of the carriage. He could only hope the stop would be a quick one. As soon as his feet hit the street he wanted nothing more than to get back in the carriage and keep traveling. Esterberry was right next door to the Highlands, and the Court of Hearts was right there...Best to get them all back in as soon as possible.
"There look to be a couple places to eat over there," he said, pointing. This would be her first meal, wouldn't it? "If you're hungry. We can go with you."

((A small series of strange noises rings through the oddly empty streets. Almost like laughter...
There don't seem to be any shoppes open per se...but, there are an awful lot of abandoned looking shoppes with the doors unlocked. Maybe you could nab something from one of them... Good thing you all have a Queen with you, it's a bit scary out here...))

Wulfram's eyes narrowed as he entered the town. There wasn't a soul in sight...
He helped the puffin out of the carriage before turning to look at the shops the Corvie had mentioned... before a strange string of noise rose up through the empty streets. Was that... laughter?
The Tulgey Queen hesitates, eyes narrowed into slits. This felt too much like the bizarre emptiness a the Court of Spades... "Something isn't right." His beak was set in a tight line and his face a scowl of displeasure. He wanted to leave, but the child-woman should be fed.
"Corvie... What ist your name?" He waited for the man's answer before introducing himself in turn. He turned to the puffin next. "Do you have a name, girl? Do you need one?" As he waited for her reply, Wulfram turned to scan the town once more. This wasn't the time for introductions but if something happened he wanted to be able to give clear orders and have them both respond promptly.

The little puffin shook in horror at the noise. She was fairly certian that things weren't supposed to be like this. Her ears pulled back at the Corvie's words. Did they want her to walk around alone in this creepy place? She gave him a rather pathetic look, not really sure what to say. "Um... I don't... really know what much of anything is so.... it would be helpful?"
She edged a bit closer to the Tulgey after he helped her out of the carriage. She looked around the empty street. Where were they exactly anyway? She didn't know anything beyond the basics.
At the question she blinked. At least someone had noticed that she didn't have a name and she didn't have to bring it up. "I don't have a name.... and I would very much like one." There was a bit of a blush under her feathers. "I-is it safe to be outside now? Is it normally like this?"
She wanted to hide behind the Tulgey, but refrained for fear of stepping over some invisible boundary she was unaware of, since she was unaware of so much.

Good, he hadn't expected her to have been born with one and, honestly, he couldn't imagine she would have the knowledge to invent one even with time to dwell on it. Thankfully, Wulfram did and he had plenty of time to dwell on it during the long drive. In the end he had settled on the name of an old family friend, long since dead, that seemed to fit the strange little Torque.
"I didn't think you would..." He gave her a little pat on the head as she edged closer to him, a smile turning up against the crow's beak. "Vhat do you think of Devika?"
His smile fell a little at the question that came next, returning his attention to the problem at hand.
"No... I don't think it's safe. I also don't vant either you or Zeki to leave the carriage. I'll go see vat ist in the shops und bring you back something. Zeki," he turned to the Corvie then, "I vant you to stay here with her. If anything happens, I vant you to get her to the Cort of Hearts. I can catch up." Though the Corvie could possibly have some useful tricks up his sleeve, it was easier to assume that they were both ultimately lacking in protective magic.

The girl blinked a few extra times at the pat to the head and the suggestion of the name. Well. She supposed that would work? It was a name and she needed one. "It's pretty, thank you." she said looking up at the Tulgey.
At the next statement she cowered a bit. Oh so... had it been a bad idea to get out of the carriage to begin with? She looked to the Corvie and back at the Tulgey. She figured she would just remain silent. That seemed like the best option until everything was sorted out. It wasn't until the Tulgey went to the shops that she actually worked up the nerve to speak. "Should we... get back into the carriage to wait for him? Or...?"
She didn't know what else they could do, or were supposed to do. Her ears were twitching at the sounds as she slowly backed into the wheel off the carriage. Fluffing up awkwardly she closed her eyes and just silently waited for answers.
(( OOC: .... so feel free to skip me at any time because 150 words for Devi is like pulling my own teeth out with a pair of pliers and I don't want to hold anything up. ))
