A good pirate huh? He would have to keep that in mind for the future. Just in case his goals were never realized, he supposed that he could run away with his sister and become some sort of pirate. It would be better than living in hell fearing for his life.
"I haven't met person who was in the service of a Jack with money to call their own. Even if I am a good liar, I highly doubt I could hide money from such a scrooge." He shrugged as he followed the other leveret to watch him set up. There were a good deal of minor little trinkets. Things that didn't look all that magical but could easily be. His ears perked at the mention of introductions. That probably looked strange under so much wrapping.
Should he give the leveret his real name? What if....?
"Ah, my apologies. My name is Heike. It's nice to meet you Enzili." He bowed his head briefly. "Do... you have any that's made out of gold?" That was always a good bribe.

For a second Enzili paused, his expression almost thoughtful. Could this be another rabbit he was bartering with? But... no... Cards had Jacks too, but they were lower ranking that a Rabbit Jack... Right? The Rabbit's expression quickly recovered, turning instead to one of understanding sympathy. So this was a low-ranked card with a miserly boss? Yeah, Enzili could understand that.
"Ai, I hear ya on dat one. Got ta be unfortunate workin' under someone else like dat. Used to be in your shoes, mon, but now I'ma free man and I wouldn't go back for anythin' in da world." Enzili was proud of that. Weren't that many Leverets that could say the same thing. "Ah suggest ya do da same some day, my friend. Ya seem like a real smart sort, not someone dat should be under ah no good miser. Da sun shines all da brighter when ya'r free." The Midori grinned wide and bobbed his head, thinking of his own escape from his first Warren. It was under the awkward pretense of almost being 'made into a doe' but that was way back then and this was now, a whole other life.
"Well it be a real pleasure tah meet ya, Heike." He returned the polite bow and immediately turned to his wares. "Gold? A'course I have gold!" Now he shifted his wares and spread to the forefront an array of golden trinkets. Most were of the jewelry persuasion - rings and necklaces and even a couple of large golden earrings - but he had a couple impressive items in there as well.
(I think you were looking to have Heike find a particular item, so I left the ending a bit open. ^^)

( Vague works well <3 )
"I would consider, but I have a sister to think about." And she was more important than anything. His chest tightened at the thought of leaving her behind. He could never do something like that. He had to find a real way to... escape.
He brushed the thoughts aside and focused on what the man produced. The rabbits ears shifted under all of the cloth when he browsed the various items. There was one little gold skull of a bird on a chain, and a rather pretty looking necklace.
He picked up the necklace first, carefully rolling it around in his paws. He could feel something tingling. Magic? Or was it just something else entirely? Perhaps his hopefulness? "How much is this?"
And then he might consider the gold bird skull. It was terribly pretty even if it wasn't magic. And he was sure he could find a use for it after he escaped.

Enzili gave an understanding bob of his head. "Ah! Family! You're ah good brotha, Heike, a good brotha." Enzili was certain he had family somewhere, but it didn't matter much in the end. They were where they were and Enzili had never had the fortune of knowing them.
Well, it was what it was. Maybe one day he'd make a family of his own, but he'd have to unlock the secrets of becoming a Jack. A far-fetched dream at best.
"An' ah good eye too? You're da complete package, my friend! Dat dere is an expensive piece, its got a tingle too it that I suspect is more than what it seems." The rabbit grinned and thoughtfully eyed the piece Heike held. "I know what it means to be strugglin' for someone uder den yourself, so I'll cut you a deal: 30 gold instead of da regular 45. An'..." He couldn't help but notice the way he was checking out that golden skull. "If you throw in a second item, I'll make it an even 50 gold."
Heike was getting a real steal for what the items were really worth, but he'd make it up in the markets with a thousand gullible idiots to choose from. He could do one good deed along the way.

The Avington did his best not to wince at the price. That was steeper than he thought it would be. But who was he to argue? This gentlemen had to make a living, and he didn't understand the fact that he was actually a rabbit in the servitude of a horrible master.
The rabbit sighed.
He reached for his bag pulling away the drawstring. Could he haggle it a bit lower? He was willing to throw in another piece for him. And he did have enough... he would just have to bargain a bit harder when he went to the market for the Czar. And perhaps he could nick a bit off of some of the cards. They never seemed to notice their missing coin purses or random baubles.
"I must be a complete and utter fool not to haggle with you," he said as he counted out the pieces. "I'll take both of them. I can't pass up a chance to put a smile on my sister's face."
(( OOC: Disclaimer! These items were actually paid for previously and are located in my inventory. ))

A sister, huh? He was a good man, this Card, a good man. Enzili felt a little bad for making the man spend so much on a poor man's salary when he wasn't even buying to indulge himself. The Midori placed a paw to his chin in thought.
"Call me ah sucker, but I like me an honest man - you don't be seein' that many of 'em around anymore... I'll make it 40, but that's just between you an me, 'kay mon? Otherwise I'll be goin' flat broke when I hit da city."
He grinned and shook his head, feeling like a right fool as he pushed then 10 piece back toward the Avington. His concerns of money loss didn't really mean anything. When he felt like it, he could burn a whole in a Card's pocket. You just had to pick and choose your battles. This fellow just reminded Zili of all the times when he'd been in a Warren working for a Jack he despised. Even a Card needed a break from time to time.

"You... you sir are a life saver," Heike said with a clear note of tears in his voice. He looked as if he could hug the man in front of him. Of course he refrained from such a thing. Touching strangers wasn't something he really wanted to do. "Thank you, so much. And I would never tell a soul of this meeting if it would hurt your business."
Something seemed a little strange about this fellow if he was a proper card. What sort of animal was he? Of course, a lot of cards were weird sorts of animals but he could usually guess what they were. This one was different? Though it could have been his imagination hoping for the best.
It would have been nice to meet another rabbit. "By the way... do you have a market stall in the nearby town, or do you just travel to sell your goods on occasion? If I ever find some luck I would like to pay you a visit."

Enzili grinned and he felt a nice swell of pride in his chest. This was why he was such a sucker for the good guys, they were always just so happy in return. Good guy this man was, and the downtrodden always needed a little lift from time to time.
"Ah! You flatter me, ma friend!" He waved a paw bashfully, but his brilliant grin belied his great joy as he began to pack up his belongings once more. "You're verreh welcome, anythin' for a good brotha." His tail gave a little twitch at the question and he thought on it for a moment. How to answer that? "I'm afraid not, mon, I usually just wander from place ta place." It was his curse, but one he'd happily shoulder any day. Better to be a penniless leveret than a slave to a Jack. "But ah, y'know... If you're ever in Midori, there's a priestess in the area that I stop in to visit whenever I'm home -- look up Miss Zuberi an' I'm sure we'll cross paths again eventually."
Most likely, though, the truth was that they never would cross paths. Cards and Rabbits never ran in the same tracks... Really, it was surprising enough that they'd stumbled upon each other now.

Midori priestess huh? The likely hood that the rabbit would have a chance to go that far away was terribly slim. Unless his master gave him a proper reason to go to the realm he wouldn't be able to go.
And as far as he knew there was very little in Midori that would interest the Highlander. Maybe one day when he and his sister finally escaped he would be able to travel such a distance unhindered by the rules of his master.
He doubted possibly even more. And what would he do if a Card found out he was a rabbit?
"I'll keep that in mind, Mr. Enzili," Heike bowed his head as he collected his items. He slipped them carefully into his pack, making sure that he wouldn't lose them on his trip to the market. After that he'd have to find a safe place to hide them. "I do hope we cross paths again some day."

Enzili grinned fondly. Aware of the futility of this promise but content with it. Friends come and go -- it was just the way of life, especially when you were a Leveret on the run.
"Aye! As do I! You're a rare sort, Mr. Heike, a rare sort!" He got his back together, swung it carefully over his shoulder, and motioned down the road. "As it is, I dunt see no reason to part ways quite yet! This trail goes on for miles widout crossing much of anythin' and, if you an' mere are goin' tha same way, I figure we can keep each other company along the way?"
He reached up to his hat with his free paw and plucked a small cylinder of rolled paper to proffer to Heike. "Ifin' you're the sort, I've got some of da good stuff. It'll pass da time like nutin' you've ever dreamed a'."
