His thick, raspy voice is due to a failed attacker's attempt at slitting his throat many years ago, he suffers from mydriasis (enlarged pupil) in his left eye; the pupil no longer contracts properly, and this makes him effectively blind in that eye during daylight. Due to an old accident with electricity and some magical fire, he's lost most of the sensation in his nerves; this renders him mostly unable to feel pain. As a result, he is paranoid and obsessive about checking himself over for wounds, as he could be bleeding out at this very moment and be unaware of it...
Basic Magical Ability: He can ignore moderate amounts of pain for up to an hour.
Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, he gains an immediate proficiency with any weapon that he picks up. This can be activated and deactivated at will.
Strong Magical Ability: When activated, he can inflict mental pain on another Card of the Suit of Spades for a full 5 minutes. The pain is similar to that of a small horde of beetles slowly biting through the flesh.
Powerful Magical Ability: When activated, he can control the mind of a lesser Heart for up to ten minutes, once per week. The individual being controlled would know and the degree of control would be perfect, if it were not for the fact that the victim loses their sight while possessed.
Jack's Ability: He is immune to any and all poison with exception to various types of sulfur.
King's Ability: He is able to summon two short sickles with handles of bone from the heart marking on his chest at will. The sickles are not intelligent, but they seem to have an odd propensity for attacking Spades and Cards that have Bird of prey in their lineage...they also have an extreme aversion to water...how odd.
Queen's Ability: Once a week, he is able to cause an incredible storm of sand to whip up out of nowhere and enclose him in the center. The sand whistles around him at incredible speeds and will deflect any and all attacks from spells ranked Jack or lower and 50 point or less spells. The sand can be shot out at people in small threads, it is sharp and will cut deep enough to draw a goodly amount of blood. Though certainly not enough to kill. This spell will last for a full minute.
