Bristol held up the bag with the blob in side, and sighed in disappointment when he realized the thing had melted into a pile of ooze. He watched it seep out of the hole he'd made near the top of the bag for it to breathe and just set the bag on the floor to let it dribble out more easily. He watched at is zoomed out the front door and out of sight.
It had been a long shot to begin with, but Bristol felt a sense of dejection as he looked around the room. Frowning, he realized he must have blocked out everyone else while on the hunt because he saw one of the children as Eldy was bandaging up his paw. Suits, what had happened? His eyes grew wide when they saw the large and intimidating blob at Cal's feet, nudging him for attention and .....maybe affection? The Mix couldn't wrap his head around the fact that something with that many teeth could feel any sort of soft feelings.
What was that nasty fish smell, anyway? He counted all three cannibal children, Nova, Eldy.... Where were the other two children and the Feline BiPed?
Bristol calmly walked over to the front door and looked outside. He saw Lariel standing in the middle of the street, looking down at something. Turning his head, he spied Sergei and Zhenya just as the top of the last one's head disappeared into the wreckage of the building.
"Hey!" he shouted after them. "Don't go in there!" He ran from the doorway all the way to the smoldering metal and would of the burnt shoppe. How the Suits had they managed to get across all of that without getting burned? He looked around quickly, frantically, and saw a few large pieces of wood lying in the street. Running over to them he was happy to realize they were no longer on fire even though they had been singed. There were quite a few blocks of wood, some long and some wide, and Bristol carried them back over to the rubble.
As quickly as he could, the Mix threw the wood forward and tried his best to get them in a straight enough line leading to the now open cellar door. Not able to wait too long for the would could very well catch on fire, Bristol activated his Basic Magical Ability, stepped quite a few feet back, took a deep breath and ran as fast as he could across the planks of wood, the hot rubble all the way to the open cellar door. (Rolled a 15 for withstanding the pain.)
The Chameleon Mix tried to stop his forward momentum as soon as he hit the descending staircase (2), but couldn't stop in time without risking burning his paws more than he could handle. Feeling himself slip on the first couple of steps he slid down a few more, bumping into Sergei and Zhenya.
It took a few moments before he could right himself and when he did he immediately checked on the children. "Oh Suits, I am so very sorry! Are either of you hurt? What were you-" he started, but stopped when he saw the light from above illuminating a very black and very monstrous object further in the basement with them. Bristol's jaw dropped open and he stared in horror.
Bristol pushed the two children behind him, his breathing stifled slightly by the steaming air all around them and the wails of the creature before them. Looking around, he spied a metal rod, probably some sort of small pipe, and tapped it a few times with his claws. It was still slightly warm but nothing that would burn, and as he picked it up he activated his Moderate Magical Ability. It wasn't a weapon he would have chosen, but something was better than nothing.
The Lizard-Cat bit his lower lip when considering what he was about to do; talk to it. After all, hadn't it just formed words of its own?
"Wh-What are you?" he asked, then realizing a few seconds later it wasn't exactly the most polite thing to ask. "Are you in pain?" The answer to that seemed rather obvious by its shouting, but Bristol was at a loss of what to do. It didn't even look like a Card! What in the name of all the Suits was this thing?
Basic Magical Ability: He can ignore moderate amounts of pain for up to forty-two minutes.
Moderate Magical Ability: When activated, he gains an immediate proficiency with any weapon that he picks up. This can be activated and deactivated at will.
--------------------------
((Poor girl rolled a 6 for dodging the mass.))
Lariel had been feeling pretty silly about talking to a writhing mass of what looked like black sludge and was about to give up and go back to the shoppe, to Nova, when whatever the hell it was shot out from the grate and flew upwards to tower over her.
Stuck still in awe, the Bobcat didn't even have time to move when the screaming mass spit a wave of froth at her before diving down itself. She screamed in terror, only remembering to go for a weapon when the thing was just about on her. (9) The silver knife was almost out of it's scabbard on her belt when she felt the sludge slam down all around her. She only had a moment to take in a very deep breath before her world was covered in darkness.
Frantically she tries to claw, swim, beat at the black mass around her. She only hoped Nova and the others had heard both her scream and the creature's. It was when she felt her lungs starting to ache from lack of oxygen that she remembered one of her newer abilities.
Grabbing onto that bit of her mind that held all her magics, Lariel activated her Teacup Ability and used all her strength to open her palm and aim it away from herself. (Rolled a 19 for the force of her ability.)
Teacups Ability: Once a day, this character is now able to shoot a jet of boiling water out of their palms for a full ten seconds. The jet can reach up to 100 feet in length, spraying out to about six to seven feet on the sides of the jet, this is strong enough to knock Cards ranked 9 and lower off their feet entirely, though ALL Cards will feel the agonizing burn the same. If this spell is used on Clubs, please PM the admin...the teacups may not like the fact that their ability was used against the same Suit as their creator...

He was finally getting his nerves back together from being transformed into a fish, the knowledge that it would happen again floating around in the back of his mind. Eldy had Fi taken care of and the other two seemed to have settled down. Everything was calming down again it seemed. And just as he was about to breathe a sigh of relief, he heard two screams.... both of which sounded rather familiar. As soon as he saw the angry black mass and Lariel, he shifted down to his animal form, much better speed, and took off with an uncharacteristic snarl. Nope, things could attack him, that was fine.... but they weren't aloud to go after anyone else in the little makeshift party. He ran as fast as he could toward them, fangs bared and hackles raised, before he launched himself off the ground at the creature, aiming to land a bite at what looked like it's head.(15) He was not in the mood to be diplomatic this time around, and it appeared that the ink beast wasn't either.

Carefully, Eldy managed to bandage up Fi's paws, using a combination of her paws and her mouth, trying to ignore the pain of her tooth because her pain ability frankly kinda sucked and she might need it more later if this day got much weirder. Finishing that, she sat back on her haunches, tail twitching, and sighed, looking over at Cal...and startling when his blobby-thing suddenly revealed a full set of very sharp-looking teeth. Her eyes widened and she sputtered for a moment.
"Cal...uh..." Maybe she'd been right in her first assessment of the things being dangerous! But then...then Cal began crying and Eldy shifted awkwardly, unsure what to do. "Cal," she repeated, with a softer edge, feeling a bit at a loss. "Things are okay now, right? Everything is okay and you have your own gross little pet and...and we can all forgive each other and move on..." For all the baby sitting she'd done, children were still rather a mystery to her, and these children even moreso. She took a few steps toward him, but stopped when the blob made a move, worried it was going to attack her...but no, it was simply...doing...something strange that involved swaying its oddly-shaped body about. Her ear twitched and she just stared.
And then she thought she heard a scream. She thought it might be that utter b****. Eldy wasn't sure she wanted to bother sticking her neck out for her, but then again, if she was actually being attacked by something...Bah, possibly Nova could deal with that. She turned toward him, only to see a streak of color rushing out the door. Well...that was that, then. She shrugged and turned back towards the children. "Should I go too?" It was really a rhetorical question, though she was hoping to encourage them all out of the shop.
((Darn you Kitty, posting while I was writing. XD <33))

((I would be a terrible liar if I said I didn't absolutely adore the cannibals. Soooo keeyuuuuuttee!!)
Fat tears rolled down the cannibal’s face as Eldy began to pick glass out of his paws. It hadn’t occurred to him to use his pain ability - he’d had worse things happen to him in the Bad Place, but the shock of seeing shards sticking out of one’s hands were enough to frighten any one. And it stung. And the blood. And everyone was upset.
Cat had stormed out into the street and just now that began to worry him. If she went to the Other Place again before he and his brother followed her, it could be very bad. Very bad. They might lose her again and she didn’t have a gooey to protect her or tell her where to go. This was unfortunate. The thought of their wonderful sister getting lost again began to override his feelings of anger toward his brother, and he began to fidget a little in anticipation of trotting after her.
Luckily, the Eldy-cat had managed to remove all the glass, cleaned the wounds and was just finishing wrapping his paws in cotton balls, gauze and tape. He slowly got to his feet and tested his feet. It hurt a little, but the cotton provided enough padding to not hurt too badly. Tears welled up in his eyes in gratitude, and he lunged forward to awkwardly hug the feline.
Thanka, Eldy-Cat. Fixes Fi’s feets!
He grinned then turned to look at Cal, who was huddled in a miserable ball and had begun crying. Fi had pointedly ignored anything his brother had said before, not wanting to hear his stupid voice, but now he felt bad. He hadn’t meant to cause trouble with his siblings or with the blobbies, and now both his siblings were upset. This simply wouldn’t do.
Unsure of what to do, Fi merely scooted close to his brother to let him know he wasn’t mad anymore, when the new, squarey squishy squashed up and down, trying to dance. Giggling, Fi nudged his gooey with his beak and began swaying back and forth to dance with the growly blob. His gooey watched with interest, then gurgle-chirped and began undulating up and down, side to side.
See, Cal? All better. He showed his bandaged paws and kept swaying, flashing a meek, feeble grin for his brother. Names the squishys, Cal. He nodded vigorously, as if suddenly realizing that this was a brilliant plan. Yes. Cal would name both gooeys and then they could go find Cat and everything would be okay. From book?

Cal's weeping stopped with a surprised hiccup as his blobling nudged against him gently, teeth all hidden. It was... trying to cuddle with him, almost like Fi's did, for all that this one was a bit monstrous in appearance. He rubbed a claw over it lightly, as if it was his pet, and not himself, that needed comforting. ”Is okay... When go to scary woods, I take you.” He reassured the the creature. ”Share sleep-hiding tree with you.”
It seemed pleased with this, for it did a clumsy sort of dance that delighted its young master. He smiled a bit through the tears. It seemed the creature had at least a slight ability to read his mind-- how else could it have known that he lamented it's less appealing form and grouchy demeanor, and wished for a cuddly dancing per like Fi's instead? He suddenly felt very ashamed for thinking such a thing. His blob loved him. He still didn't think he deserved it, all thoughts that his worth would be proven by the affections of a blob forgotten, but he was certainly grateful for it.
He stroked the dark glob with wondering affection, heedless of the oily sheen that coated his fur where the blobling nuzzled him. His blank eyes were still leaking tears when Fi scooted up to him. Cal almost recoiled from the contact, subconsciously expecting retaliation of some kind. He was therefore shocked when Fi and his blob joined in the clumsy dance. He stopped crying at his brothers words and buried his face in the other boy's fur. ”Sorry I said mean words!” He cried, muffled. ”Still loves you!”
When he reappeared, his smile was tentative and watery, but genuine. ”Name a book name? Okay. Ink name?” He sounded hesitant. Cal knew he didn't deserve this honor. He had to think of the best bookword-names he could, then Fi would have final say. Squishy was out, now tainted by the intense emotions of the argument that it had in some ways caused. He needed something totally new. ”Name.... Blot?” He thought about it a moment. It had a hard sound to it, not a friendly sound for the more snuggly of the gooeys. ”Maybe no. Name....” Something inky. He wracked his brain for a moment, ”Name Smudge? You like?” He addressed both the boy and his pet in the question.
His own gooey cube was going to need a grumpier name. Grumpy but still lovable, like he was (for Cal had deemed the genderless cube a boy, like himself). ”Unless you want to name, Fi, I call this one Trouble.” The gooey was trouble, caused trouble, and with those teeth would help Cal get out of trouble. ”You Trouble?” He cooed at his blobling. This time the rumbly-grumbly sound was more like a purr, and the creature rubbed against its masters foot a few more times before settling down into a near-puddle shape, eyes bobbing in a way that was both deeply creepy and somehow endearing.

((For the time being, Cat is out. <3 As soon as I can get a little mini-story thing written up, she will be out. Assume she went to the Other Place and will be back once she finds something. :3))
The heat up above had been bad, but down here, it was almost unbearable. Sergei was panting by the time they were midway down the stairs, so focused on what was in front of him and the sounds coming out of it that he completely missed the sound of Bristol's feet. By the time he did, it was too late, and the other boy crashed into him. He let out a quiet yelp of surprise, tumbling forward a few feet and barely managing to keep himself upright (13), which was thankful - he didn't want to think about how much it would hurt to actually fall onto the heated floor.
But when he regained his balance, he was down in the basement fully. All the fur on his body stood on-end and he ignored Bristol completely, though not entirely intentionally.
Oh, Suits.
"There are bones inside of it. I could see them." He spoke quickly, quietly, almost in a panic. What were they going to do?! It was clearly in pain, clearly terrified, but... It was so hot down here, too hot for him to even think. With a frustrated, pained yell, Sergei lifted a rock and, with all of his Club-strength, hurled it at one of the exposed pipes (17). Hopefully, it would be a water-pipe of some kind, and help to cool them all down at least a little.

((Going to take the heart if that's cool with everyone!))
Lariel had been extatic the moment she saw the hole punched through the monster by the force of the boiling water from her palms, but dispair washed over her when she saw the hole rapidly close back up. she'd felt fresh air on her foot for a brief moment, and Lariel found herself wondering if she was really going to die.
She stopped all her struggles suddenly, hearing a voice. It took a few moments for her to realize the voice was coming from inside her head! Was this some form of hallucination from lack of oxygen? But no, the words...they seemed to be coming... from the creature? The Bobcat stopped struggling and listened, but nothing the thing said made sense. It didn't seem malicious, besides the fact that it had attacted her and swallowed her whole. She registered that it had, in fact, said it's name was Tamis. This... thing was a person?!?
Then all of a sudden she felt something thrashing against her. She couldn't open her eyes so had no idea it was Nova beside her except for the soft feeling of heat nearby that wasn't there before. Then the thing was speaking again and Lariel could only register it was talking about some kind of female that was supposed to help it; Tamis.
Without warning Lariel felt her body slip forward and out of the thing, landing hard on the ground below after being vomited back up. It took awhile for her to be able to wipe all the gunk and sludge from her face and around her eyes enough for her to see. When she was finally able to look around she saw Nova in the same predicament as herself, but realized she was so incredibly relieved to see him unhurt and alive. She almost smiled when she realized he must have attacked the thing in order to save her. Moving slowly, she covered his hand with hers and did smile at him then.
Looking around she realized the two of them weren't the only things to be spewed up. Pieces of a body were on the ground all around them! Without thinking about it too much Lariel picked up what appeared to be a heart, swallowing hard and feeling just a bit sick. Could this have been her if they'd stayed inside the thing too much longer?
Hanging onto the heart, the BiPed gets to her feet, feeling gross and disguting and wanting nothing more at that moment than to take a long, hot shower. Offering a hand to Nova she helps him to his feet then looks back at the creature.
Lariel was torn on what to do. It had attacked her and tried to eat her alive, but the voice inside of her head hadn't been one of some horrible monster whose only goal was to kill them. The Ranger bit her lip while she decided what to do, finally taking a tentative step closer to the thing.
"Tamis?" she said loudly, hoping to get its attention but staying far enough back that if it tried to go for her again she'd have more time to react. "You're name is Tamis, right? I heard you... in my head," she talked to the thing, awkwardly. "Are....are you a Card? You sound... in pain. Um, what's wrong with you?" she asked, feeling oh so many kinds of weird.
---------------
Bristol had a hard time breathing against the heat and humidity in the air down in this basement. He'd been so concentrated on asking the thing questions he almost hadn't heard Sergei speak behind him. He turned his head to look at the boy, keeping the pile of sludge still in his periphary.
"Bones?" he repeated, looking back at the thing. Fist the voice, now bones? Did that mean this thing perhaps hadn't always been this way? Taking a moment to search his mind for all the knowledge he'd just been born with he couldn't find a single bit of information that could help him identify whatever it was in front of them.
The Chameleon Adult was brought out of his deep thought when Sergei hefted a rock past the three of them and watched it smash into a pipe.
Bristol hoped the thing was still unhurt enough to answer the questions he'd asked of it. The Lizard-Cat could do with some answers right about now.

[[ gonna snag the Femur. ]]
Aha! He'd gotten a good hold on the inky thing, and another mouthful of that awful taste.... he was going to rescue Lariel and.... Damnit! He struggled helplessly as the thing engulfed him as well, although he shouldn't have been all that surprised really... it's wasn't exactly like it had a stable, firm body to grab onto. It was far scarier being cramped inside one with another person as well, everything felt... closer and more suffocating. And then he froze was it... was it talking to him mentally?
Something was going on, and it seemed like someone was using they things for something? He wasn't quite sure what he'd heard, it wasn't entirely coherent after all. And then, just as his lungs started to burn, he was abruptly spat back out onto the cobblestones. He shivered a bit, something about being part of something else's vomit was just incredibly unsettling.
There was something under his paws that tingled a bit to the touch as well a.... a femur? Eh, he might as well hang onto it, who knows if it might end up being important later on. It was in this things belly after all.
His ears perked when he felt a hand on his paw and he turned his gaze up to Lariel's face, his orange eyes looking far brighter against a background of solid black then they did against his coat, and smiled back to her, his tail wagging a bit and making some wet, flopping noises against the ground. Well, at least she was alright.
He accepted the help back up to his paws and just... couldn't fight the urge to shake as much of the black goo off his fur as possible. He sent splatters of the stuff off into every direction as he gave his whole body a good shake. he'd never felt dirtier in his entire life.
He stepped up next to Lariel, eying the thing with perked ears and an inquisitive expression. He knew the thing before could talk!
Who is.. .she? Maybe we could find her?

Fi couldn’t help but to give a delighted chirp as his brother suddenly burrowed his face in his chest. Yay!
I sorry, too. Always loves! Always. And all betters! Eldy-cat fixes! , the cannibal’s cheery words were complimented with a huge, disconcerting grin as he displayed his bandaged claws.
Yes! Book names. Cal good with book names.
A grating, avian purr rumbled softly in his throat. His tail flicked softly back and forth. Oh, he was so very pleased with himself. His plan had worked! Cal was going to name the gooeys and then they would go outside and be with Cat and then they could all eat food-meats together and then everything would be good.
Yes. A perfect plan.
Smudge? He frowned in thought. Like make mess? Ha. I like. Cal very smart. The boy was young, but still understood that strengthening their friendship after a fight would involve lavish praise. Fi happily nodded and rubbed his nose against his gooey. You Smudge!
The Jossigy monster looked over at the square lump that was Cal’s squishy, wondering what sort of name could fit a gooey like that. It was wobbly and kind of mean. He wasn’t sure he liked the toothsome creature, but if it made Cal happy then the squishy could stay.
Trouble! Very good name. Very good. The Jack rubbed his face into Cal’s and then stood, hobbling awkwardly as he pranced toward the door. Now be with Cat. See everything good.
He lead the way and hopped daintily out the door, his claws click-clacking softly on the cobblestones. Suddenly, he stopped. The Fish-cat and the Orange Not-cat were trapped in a huge mud pie. No. Giant gooey? He grinned and pointed a wrapped digit in the biped's direction. Look, Smudge! Big Gooey! Smudge wobbled on his shoulder a bit and gurgled, as if politely interested.
Fi continued further into the street before fear gripped his heart. Frantically, he spun in a little circle, looking to and fro.
Oh. Oh no.
Cat?! Cat-sister! CAT!!??
Everything was not so good now.
Cat goooooooone!!!!!, he yowled pitifully, dropping solidly to his hindquarters and sniffling again.
