((Nova and Lariel were trying to see if they could head downtown to find some nice little cafe's... Looks like things are a bit off down here, however. The air smells like an odd heavy spice and something underneath it smells...just nasty. Can't quite put their fingers on it though.
Eldy's been out looking for her sister's daughter since this morning. Her wonderful little crack-baby (literally), Kamina, seems to have wandered off. Not doing a great job of finding her, she's started following any signs of her...seems all she's run into is this weird little beast named Cal, though. Eurgh...he's so bizarre. The two of them are only a street away from Nova and Lariel...might want to head toward the voices in this horrible deserted ghost-town.
Your goal is to find one another and see if you can't find anyone in any of the shoppes to help you. Search around, there's got to be someone here somewhere, right?))

The canine was quite happy to be out and about with the lovely company he was keeping today. He'd made sure that he and Lariel kept in touch since they'd run into each other again after years had passed, he was certain that meant they were supposed to, at the very least, be friends. His flame colored tail swayed happily as they walked down the street side by side, his characteristic smile resting on his muzzle. Ah yes, today was a good day, a good day indeed! Except for that smell. The spice was alright, even if it sort of burned his sensitive canine nose... but the undertone.... ew. What in the name of the Queens was that? It didn't quite smell like trash, or rotting fruit ... but it was most certainly nasty and made his tail slow down a bit and his face scrunch up a bit. He peered over at Lariel to see if it was that bad to her as well, or if it was just his sense of smell getting the better of him again .... which was why he never set foot in a perfume store in any form but human. What on earth is that smell?

" Kamina? KAMINAAAA? Where the HELL are ya?" The purple-and-black Feline frowned, looking around at the completely empty street of the Bazaar. Just how lost could one little permanently high kid get? She knew the little weirdo couldn't run because of weird-ass thing on her back. And yet...Eldy had no earthly idea where her niece could be. Just her luck she was tasked with finding her, possibly the weirdest of Xiven's children. Which was -really- saying something. She sighed, and wrinkled her nose at that AWFUL smell. Spice and something dead. Lovely. And what in Suits' name was -up- with the Capital today? It was never this empty. Even in the dead of night she'd seen more Cards running around than this. And she should know, too. " Maybe the smell scared them all away," she mumbled sarcastically to herself. " Buncha wimps. Not that I blame them. Eurgh, that is foul." She began to climb up a fire escape to get onto the roof of one of the shops and possibly get a better view.

Lariel had been surprised when Nova had asked to meet her again. She tried not to think about the fact that she didn't have that many friends that often. Okay, fine. No friends. So hence her surprise at his request for them to get together again after their chance meeting awhile back. A meeting Lariel found hard to come to terms with still since the little fiery pup she had known was all grown up. Very grown up indeed, she thought, then immediately shook her head to get rid of such thoughts. Cassanova, to her anyway, was still that small adolescent in her mind and it was better off if he stayed that way. Still, she could at least admit to herself - though of course she'd been fighting not to for hours now - that she was rather attracted to him. A fact that she will keep to herself until after she had died, thank-you-very-much. But the Bobcat allowed herself to walk close to him, feeling the warmth of his wings against her fur. They were on their way to another cafe for a nice late afternoon chat when she noticed the smell of a spice she didn't recognize. Thinking nothing of it, after all... they were around many cafes, she pressed on. But the further they walked Lariel realized that wasn't the only thing she was smelling. All too soon she had to breathe through her mouth, and even then she thought she could almost taste that rotting, sickening smell. Covering her nose with her paw, she turned to Nova and realized he was looking at her. "Please, for the love of all the Suits, tell me that stench isn't something that came from you." Handsome or not, she would not share her company with someone who could produce such foul odors.

At her comment his ears flipped halfway back and his expression changed from disgust to indignant. He certainly had more class then that!
If that were me, I'd not only be apologizing profusely but be looking into seeing a doctor. That's not... normal.
His expression couldn't linger in any realm but cheerful for long and it soon shifted back to a grin, not as broad as normal... but he tried. Before, of course, he gave up and started to breathe out of his mouth as well.
What was that? He heard someone calling someone else, didn't he? He glanced around their surroundings quickly, everything looked... closed, didn't it? That was strange, he wasn't aware of any holidays today, had he lost a few months somewhere? No, he may not have been the brightest star in the sky, but he most certainly wasn't that stupid. Something was weird, and it sounded like someone was lost.
He offered up his arm to the pretty feline beside him and peered at her once more.
It looks like we won't be going to any cafe's today, everything looks closed and ... empty. Perhaps instead of standing a doing nothing, we could see if that person nearby needs some assistance finding this... Kamina. Might be interesting.
And he was curious to see if she knew why there seemed to be no one at all around, but he didn't want to take a chance at worrying Lariel... if she wasn't suspicious already of course. She was a pretty smart cookie.

The air smelled funny (not quite food-smell, not quite dead-smell... he would call it 'off-smell', he decided), and it was strangely silent in the city. Totally silent except for the sound of someone yelling. Yelling wasn't usually a good sound to go toward, but with no other ideas of where his sister might have gone to, Calamity decided that this time might be different. He went toward the sound. Very purple, wasn't it? Very purple and black and metal. The yelling one looked... angry. She was looking for someone, too. Just like he was. Maybe when the yeller found who she was looking for, Cat would be there too! The yelling one was a cat and he was looking for a Cat and it seemed to him that this somehow boded well for his theory. The cannibal child fell into step beside Eldy and regarded her curiously with pale eyes. It had been harder to keep track of his family since they had walked away from the wood, but the greater number of edible things (and people) that they didn't need to kill themselves more than made up for it. There were bookstores, too, with precious precious books that he could take, if he was sneaky enough about it. He had learned to be very sneaky in the last few weeks. The adults who stayed in the stores didn't like it when people took the books, and Cal didn't really blame them. Taking books was one of the worst things a person could do. But he was a Very Bad Child, and he couldn't help himself sometimes. Books were needed, more and more and more books, and he wasnt sure if the need for books would ever stop, no matter how many he sneaky-took. They made him feel safe and in order, and sometimes even less hungry. They gave the world words and names, and tought him things like 'beach' and 'mommy' and 'silverware'-- good things he could not otherwise have known of. Now there was a little hidden cache of books in a hidden place near why they had last found an already-killed food (he also knew now that special-food, the best food, was called an 'Ace', and eating it was another reason he was bad), and he would go back there to visit the precious books as soon as he found Cat. She had better turn up soon. ((Sorry if Cal is painful to read-- he hurts my brain a little sometimes.))

She was climbing up the fire escape, still yelling in case the child was nearby. "KAMINAAAAAAAAAaaaauuuh." Eldy trailed off into confusion as she heard someone come up behind her, and she peered over to see a very strange looking child. She frowned at it, wondering why those eye-markings looked so freaking familiar...and connecting them to some of the late Queen Shinrai's children. And that meant...possible cannibal. She'd have to be cautious. She backed slightly away from him, and frowned. It was bad enough to have to babysit the crack baby, she didn't want to be stuck with ANOTHER freak of a child.
"Hello," she said dryly, tail swishing. "I'm sorry you're lost, but I'm busy." She resumed her attempts to climb up the building, hopping fairly nimbly up the steps, especially for someone with a heavy ball-and-chain attached to their leg. But she was used to it, and it was a handicap she'd overcome over the years. She pulled herself up onto the roof, not caring to see if the creepy child had followed, and looked around. Hmmm...empty street, empty street...street with two VERY colorful Bipeds. Whoa. She stared for a minute.

Lariel smirked at Nova as she watched the indignation flare across his face. Of course she hadn't really thought the smell had been of his creation, but she just couldn't help herself from asking. Still, that smell was so strong and no matter how much she tried to breathe through her mouth it was as though she could taste it now she knew it was in the air.
She had also heard someone shouting, but that was nothing new about this place of town. People got lost here all the time. It wasn't exactly the best place to be lost in the Capitol though. Normally Lariel didn't involve herself in the plights of others but Nova seemed to want to check out what was going on. And he was right, all of the shoppes and cafes around were closed. How very, very odd.
Lariel looked around, noticing not only the closed shoppes but the lack of Cards around anywhere. Her fur started to stand on end as she realized something seemed very, very off. Could it have something to do with that smell? The Bobcat absently rubbed along the black arm bands she wore; four on each arm. The one she currently rubbed hid a small dart tipped in a poison that would knock out a low ranked opponent. She kept a lot of... self-defense items on her person at all times. Dealing in the Black Market, though no one close to her knew that, had its dangers.
Lariel looked back to Nova and smiled, stepping close to him and looping her arm through his. What a gentleman. A rare trait among males nowadays.
"I'm up for some investigation if you are. Suits, I'm a Private Investigator. Though I may not be getting paid, I'm curious by nature," she said, giving him a wink and letting him take the lead down the street.

He was quite glad she'd willingly agreed to go and see if the shouter needed any help. He was naturally curious as well as the type to try and help out others where he could. which was probably one of the reasons he aimed to be an Ambassador for the court someday. Plus, hell... it would give them something to do.
Once her arm was looped with his he started off toward the streets he'd heard the girl calling from, red lined ears perked forward to catch any sounds. There, there it was again! Only this time she waned into confusion at the end, hmm... .curious indeed.
Hello there? Girl who was searching for someone, need any help?
Mayhaps not the brightest idea, calling out like that, but probably the quickest way to find her and offer up their intentions just in case she was a paranoid type. Not likely, as they didn't generally go around being quite so loud but, hey... you never really knew about people these days.

The yelling one stopped yelling and looked at him. Cal looked back, eyes still blank although the edges of his beak curved upwards in an expression that, had it been on anyone else, would have been called a rather charming smile. Then she tried to leave him behind! The strange little boy followed calmly.
"Hello." In a bird like gesture, Cal tilted his head to get a better look at the woman. "Is not lost." He explained congenially, "Sister is lost. I look-search for her. Sister name is Cat."
As strange as he looked, the boy was very reasonable in manner, and considerably more verbal than most five year olds. "Cat get eyes-shiny and wander-walks away. Get lost in mind, then get real lost in streets..." There was a tone of fond concern in the boy's voice. It was always a bit worrying when Cat lost track of reality and drifted off alone in the city, even though there was less chance of her getting eaten here than there was in the wood. Today with the air full of off-smell and most of the city residents apparently in hiding, it more urgent than usual that he find his dreamy sister before she got too far away.
