"I can imagine!" Zuberi responded, her bare feet shuffling idly on the stonework as she waited.
It didn't take long; they'd probably already had half the stuff cooked an hour ago, though their food certainly wasn't as... carefully prepared as it would once it was finally rolled into the rooms of the royalty that lived here. Instead, they received neat packages bundled up 'take-out- style.
It would do no good to dawdle, leading the way out the door, Zuberi managed to get them both out of the kitchen before they either accidentally knocked something over, or accidentally got stepped on. Goodness knows someone would be mad if she managed to get Pale's daughter tromped on. He was... a very intense individual.
"So... what do you say to eating in the garden? Surely it's not as crowded there." Yes, outside would be good. The high, courtly walls were starting to make her feel stuffy.

The little squirrel wiggled idly as they waited for their meal. A happy little cheer escaped her when Zuberi was presented with the packages. She brightly pranced after the woman to escaped the madness of the kitchen.
A the suggestion of the garden the tiny squirrel's face lit up like a supernova. For a moment she bounced in place from sheer excitement. "Yeah! The garden is never crowded!"
And they had the chance of running into Mommy Xiven there! Almost every day she ate in the garden with Papa. It was the only time the two of them weren't horribly busy and could actually play a little bit. "I'll lead the way!" she announced with a hop and a skip, her joy just seemed to get greater and greater the closer they got to the gardens. She explained briefly that there was a nice spot with a little table that they could sit at as she pranced around the corner.
The garden was empty, no sign of anyone.
The little squirrel frowned a bit.

------------- (Time Skip and introducing new characters) Xolani loved her dolls. They were little more than rag dolls with button eyes, but she loved them all the same. After all, her mommy made them for her. She smiled, exposing more of the long fangs in her mouth as she did so. Some people found it unnerving, though probably nowhere near as unnerving as Xolani found most of them. They were strangers.. not family at all. Not family like mommy. Or Charlie. In fact, the only reason the girl wasn't flinching at every sound and shadow was because Charlie was no more than a foot away, nestled down in the sunlight with his head resting under a wing. It was okay that he was napping; it was bright out and the girl knew most of the faces in the courts. Besides, if she ever felt in danger, she knew Charlie would be awake in an instant.

Linnea was bored. This was nothing new. Mommy was busy. Daddy was ignoring her for some reason or another. Other Mommy wasn't around. That left her with what exactly? She could try to pester Ben and Falks but she didn't really want to.
She wanted to play with someone. Her tail curled behind her as she quietly padded down the hallway. Everyone was ignoring her per usual, despite the smell that followed her. Perhaps it was because she was the child of Apocalpyse, or perhaps it was because the Queen of Hearts thought of her as her own child. Or maybe it was something else entirely.
Finally she found her way to a familiar door. It took her a few moments to actually grab the doorknob and turn it. When she was successful she popped her head into the room. "Hellloooo?" she called out curiously. Was anyone even around in here?
