A future one, Thalia hoped. A little bandersnatch to call her own and love and experiment upon; she did so adore the little troublemakers. She felt like just picking one up off the street wasn't going to be exciting enough anymore, though, not on its own.
She had an itch for something grander. This was not just going to be a day, but THE day; The Day, Starring Thalia. Starring Thalia, Tosiek, and a surprise guest.
"Maybe," she said, "one we can thief?"
Yes. That was it! The plot the The Day could be a heist. She wasn't entirely attached to the idea (if she had her way, just about every day would feature a caper of some kind, so the idea wasn't particularly original; she gravitated toward collecting things like kleptomania was written in her genes), but she did want to get the ball rolling. Get their new friend involved in the shenanigans. Occasionally they did well with a co-star.

Kaden was very happy once Quicksand was released to him. His little buddy and ankle-biter and cohort in chaos. The sandy colored fuzzball darted back to his owner, hiding behind the avian's legs as he sneezed his feelings toward Tosiek's capture.
It was good to be a team again, Kaden thought, and beamed with a bit more confidence now that the little monster was back at his side. Or back, whatever.
Thalia, meanwhile, had the look of someone plotting great great things and Kaden was instantly intrigued. A Bander to Thief? That idea sounded both delightful and wonderfully fun... Kaden loved to thief!
"A bander to thief, I think, sounds like a spectacular idea!"
Kaden's gaze slowly meandered to Tosiek. The skunk gryph seemed to be the 'control' between he and Thalia and Kaden was just certain he would have to get the man's approval before anyone could go a-thiefing.

Despite Kaden's thoughts, Tosiek was hardly the one in control. As might be evidenced now through the stare he had directed at the other teenager. It wasn't a dark look or even angry look, though he did feel a brief surge of resentment; the main of the expression was a mixture of disbelief with some annoyance.
Why in the world anyone they had just met would encourage a stranger to steal was beyond him, but, more than that, was a slight edge of jealousy. When he realized that, he gave a mental sigh and glanced over at the young woman. He wasn't entirely certain why he adored Thalia as much a she did, but he did know that he was an ugly duckling compared to the beautiful swan that she was and he was constantly afraid that she'd grow tired of him. Yet another reason he so often went along with the other Diamond.
Thoughts aside, it was time for damage control.
"Stealing a bander might be a problem," he pointed out easily, even as he mentally tried to figure out if it had been over a week since he'd last used his time ability. That would at least give them two chances at the thing. "We can't steal it from Ashwin; he'd kill us."

The first few drops of rain splattered dismally on her parade. Tosiek was right on that count, of course, which was why he was in charge of editing the script for The Day. Ashwin’s shop was far too well-watched to make a caper feasible, and Everyone Dies was not going to be the twist ending. She could grab her mask, she supposed, but invisibility felt a bit like cheating (which she usually didn’t have a problem with, except that she was the heroine of The Day, and heroines didn’t cheat), and someone would probably notice a bundle of banders floating out the door.
Thalia tended not to have a Plan B, though; contingency planning was Tosiek’s bag, and she was happy to leave him to it. She usually went ahead with whatever Plan A was, and if Plan A turned out to be entirely illogical, she just beat the shit out of Plan A until it worked.
“Any other likely victims, then?”

Kaden hesitated.
Huh, yeah... True, stealing from Ashwin wasn't a good idea. Kaden had snagged the coins to buy something from Ashwin, but he hadn't done any stealing from the man himself. Then again he was getting old? No... Tosiek was probably right.
"Huh, yeah... Ashwin's no good, what about something simpler? We could thief from a person out here, which would probably be pretty easy as everyone's too busy to hold onto anything... like leashes... or coin bags." Kaden knew this very well... But the downside of this would be the same as the problem of losing his Quicksand: he could be stealing someone's friend. "Then again, a lot of 'em would be buddies, like Quicksand and I... so that might not be very nice." Abruptly he grinned, expression turning from thoughtful to mischievous. "O! What about the Outer Bazaar??? There are usually some shady people out there dealing all sorts of shady things, I bet they'd have banders and they'd probably deserve to have 'em... liberated."
Liberating was another thing Kaden enjoyed doing. Like liberating his school's lab mice.

Well, stealing from the Outer Bazaar was no new task to this particular Diamond pair; Tosiek gave a small nod of agreement, trying to hid his reluctance. They weren't exactly the most law-abiding, though, and he was still more concerned about how glib his tongue could be with yet another person to cover.
Still, there was that one shopkeeper out there who'd tried to actually grab Thalia last week. . . "I think I know where we can start," he said thoughtfully. "But you'll have to run point. . . uhm, what's your name?" It wouldn't do to call the other Card 'Quicksand's owner', though he wouldn't be surprised if Thalia used such a designation. The ends of his beak tried to quirk upward at that thought; she was such a pill.
The skunk hybrid started walking towards the Outer Bazaar-- it would take them a bit of weaving to get to the area they needed and they could certainly do introductions as they walked.

Ah, a name probably would be good, wouldn't it? Thalia's brain typically ascribed appropriate monikers to people and she was content to let them remain identified as such--she was stunned, for instance, when Unattractive Mauve Sweater Vest who worked for the local florist was revealed to be named Steven. They weren't very creative names, but they were simple and fitting. Iskra was still Miss Gecko to her most of the time, though she had known her for years.
She hoped the bird had a good name. She might have to call him something else if he were--Bob, for instance.
She looked at him expectantly. Then she drifted off a bit.
The Outer Bazaar was not the grandest plot for The Day, but it was good and steady and she liked it. Perhaps, if he performed well, they could include birdie in future adventures. If not, then they hadn't lost much by sticking to familiar territory.

Oh yeah, introductions! It had slipped Kaden's mind in the moment of meeting such an interesting duo.. and Thalia's thoughts had wandered rather quickly hadn't they? He grinned a little awkwardly and waved a wing.
"I'm Kaden. It's been a real pleasure, it's not everyday I meet such... like-minded cards." Already he was growing fond of these two - they had an awesome balance between crazy and logic, just the way any dynamic duo should - and it was obviously proving fruitful to have stumbled into them. Thalia would be a blast and Tosiek sounded like he already had the plan together without having step foot into the 'crime scene'. Heck, Kaden usually just made things up as he went so it'd be fun to have someone orchestrating the show for once. "Oh yeah, so you were sayin' something about running?"
Kaden definitely liked the sound of that. His feathers fluffed up and, from his patient place at Kaden's side, Quicksand seemed to sneeze his agreement.

(i'm assuming we still want to close this. ^^ If so, i hope this works and sorry for using Thalia as a catalyst. xD; <33 If not, they can meet up at the ice cream shoppe later! ) It was, sadly, a plan doomed for failure that day. Something had happened before the trio even made it to the Outer Bazaar and the cops were out in force. They wove their way through the area, carefully, but by the time they made it to the area Tosiek had marked for their 'work', Thalia had managed to 'lose' several items from various tables. With two bellowing shopkeepers and quite a few 'helpful customers' trailing after them, it wasn't long before they were receiving attention they didn't really want. Tosiek gave it up as a lost cause when someone called the cops on them. The skunk hybrid cursed loudly. "Snot it, make a break for it, kids. Kaden, head north, Thalia, go west. I'll make a distraction and head south. Let's try to meet up again later, okay?" He lagged behind and waited for one of the shopkeepers to get close. He shrieked as though in pain, flailing his wings and falling into another booth. That shopkeeper began screaming and Tosiek answered in kind that he had been shoved deliberately into the table. That caused the two merchants to start fighting each other and the hybrid used the ensuing chaos to slip out of the crowd himself.
