I was tempted to try for The Emperor, but decided the bunnies I currently have need attention first, then Bianca muse struck. :3 I like it, I hope you all enjoy it, too.
Prompt: 043. Joke
Word count: 517
Character: Bianca, mention of Nayeli, Remmington and Vikenti.
Warnings: Tons of emos.
When she heard it, she thought someone was playing a joke on her. A very, very unfunny joke.
Nayeli, the pride of Remmington’s warren, had gone missing. They hadn’t found anything of her for several months. She was presumed dead.
It had been a few years since she’d been traded away to the Czar’s Warren. It was nice, not as bad as she was told. She was away from the attention of her old Jack and was free and had all kind of new friends!
And yet, like some kind of sick joke, she was as unhappy as ever.
None of her music turned out well anymore. She enjoyed few things anymore. When she didn’t work, she slept, or laid in bed, staring at the ceiling. Her new friendships deteriorated as she took no care to keep them up outside of her work. She had no will to do anything other than dream. The best ones always with her and Nayeli. Then the truth hit. It hit hard with a sickening crunch.
It should have been obvious, really, when she worked in her former warren. That fit of jealousy she felt when Remmington chose Nayeli to be a Doe even though Bianca herself despised the thought ever becoming a Doe. Hell, how much she despised the very thought of being a Doe! How much joy and pleasure she derived out of caring for and pampering Nayeli personally. How often she thought of her old friend when they were separated
She felt sick. Surely this feeling was too intense. She would wake up at any moment. She would jolt awake, shivering in her cold sweat, but be safe and happy back in her own bed. Back in Remmington’s Warren.
In the Leveret’s quarters, next to...
No.
NO.
It couldn’t be real. It just couldn’t. It all had to be some elaborate ruse perpetrated by some cruel, omnipotent being.
But there it was.
Nothing contradicted it. Everything pointed to that one sickening truth.
Bianca. The hardest-working daughter of her father’s Warren, the pride of his choir of musically-talented Leverets. Bianca. Traded time and time again because amorous Jacks could not persuade her to become a Doe, no matter how much they wanted her. Bianca.
The abomination of Rabbit kind.
What shame! If her father knew... She would turn that proud, wonderful man into a joke. She could never tell anyone. She had to keep her filth to herself. She would die with her dishonor. Time passed. She coped.
After the news of Nayeli’s disappearance Bianca had found that she had not coped with her little problem, but had only put it aside and covered it up. Now Bianca could barely bring herself to work. She pretended not to hear the other Leverets trying to wake her up to make her help prepare breakfast. She lay in her bed, eyes squeezed shut, hoping, praying that they’d just give up and leave her to her dreams instead of having to drift through this joke of a reality.
