The morning his sister turned changed everything. The only friend he'd ever had turned her back on him and made it quite clear that what he was disgusted her. Betrayal didn't seem quite strong enough to describe the storm brewing in his insides. She'd ... forgotten everything, hadn't she? All those nights he'd covered for her, helped her wash the vomit and blood from her fur .... all the tears he'd shed over her ... none of it had ever mattered, had it? His body stiffened and his fur bristled as rage flooded his veins. The last thing he'd yelled after his sister she probably didn't even hear ....
You god damned ungrateful bitch!
Tavor was shocked .... never had he heard Brokat use any language close to this. He stared down at the triple breed, mouth open just a bit, and silence fell over the pair for a few moments. That's when everything started changing.
It wasn't enough that he'd been kidnapped and used as a science experiment and had lost the one person that had been helping him keep everything together, no ... it had to get worse. All that pent up anger needed a release now that it's seal had been broken, and Tavor was on the receiving end. In fact, within a month's time he was honestly terrified of his son, and he felt awful. Perhaps ... maybe .... a gift would help? Maybe a little show of kindness was all the boy needed to soothe the recently emerged beast. This just ... wasn't his Kat, not at all.
He spent all day searching but finally he found something that had called to him. It was simple, but it was pretty and it would definitely look rather sharp again the brown of the wolf/eagle/rat's coat. He wrapped it carefully, tied it off with a silver ribbon and left it outside the youth's door. This just had to work ... he didn't know what else he could really do.
And it did work ... for a rather short period of time. Brokat had found it in the morning and slipped it on to admire the piece. His ears tilted back as a sudden wave of regret flooded his mind, he'd been awful, hadn't he? He had enough time to take a step toward the door before the tingling began. It started in his nose and traveled straight through to his tail .... what?
He stood frozen as the strange feeling subsided only to be replaced by worry. That couldn't possibly have been normal, was he ill? Awake? He shook out his fur and slunk into one of the bathrooms to get a peek in the mirror and froze. Once again every hair on his body stood on end, who was that staring back at him? Where had all his colors and markings gone? Had he .... died? That reflection was haunting .... pure white without a spec of any of his previous colors. What .... what had happened?
Rather quickly all that fear and worry was replaced with anger once again. Why couldn't he be normal and not .... change? He'd been happy as a Lowlander, enjoyed it really. True it had it's downsides but .... why? A growl rumbled up from his throat as he swept his paw across the counter and knocked everything that had been on it onto the floor or against the wall. That was it, he couldn't take anymore. He needed away, out of the Capital... all it brought him was pain anymore.
He slunk out of his room, his bander and mushroom companions on his heels, and stopped only once as he made his way through the house. If he was going to disappear he was going to do it right. His little rat ears twitched as he moved over to the desk and carefully opened the drawer .... bingo! Carefully he removed the necklace from it's resting place and undid the ends, removing each piece until he came to the one he was looking for. This was one of his baby teeth, the last little link to him his mother would have. He clenched his toes and his talons scraped against the floor ... his mind was made up.
With the tooth gripped in his beak he and his pets slipped out the door and disappeared into the night. He felt ... dead inside, so why not embrace his new appearance and become nothing more then a ghost? After a stop to a certain family friend .... that's precisely what he'd be doing. Zuberi ... she'd be able to give him some advice, right? He certainly hoped so, he needed quite a bit right now.
