[OOC: Yeah...I couldn't think of a title...might as well make it festive XD;] Severus accended the stairs of his dungeon-like chamber, as they spiralled high up and finally reached the wooden door that seperated him from the rest of the palace. He mildly wondered if it would even open, or if the rust from the door had overgrown to the point where it was impossible to open. It creaked, but that was about all, as he stepped onto the marble flooring of the inner palace, and made his way down the halls...feeling...very much...and for the first time in his whole life in the palace...as if he didn't belong. He had grown almost fatally ill, and to weak to move from his own chambers, for what seemed like years now. One thing was for certain...he would NEVER go back to the Yarrow Garden. They would have to drag him kicking and screaming. And another...was that he sourly needed to make friends. It was obvious that he couldn't trust random people...He had been absolutely certain the man he had paid to take care of him in his illness had been set up to kill him slowly. The sickness shouldn't have ever lasted this long. His expression was sour...and he was beginning to wonder if his face was stuck in a perpetual scowl. Suits knew that he had enough wrinkles indicating his face was contorted in that way the majority of his lifetime. He felt completely out of place...and knew nothing about current events other then what his servent told him...and well...he might have easily been lying. At least whoever was in power had bothered to allow him to stay in the palace...that...or no one even knew he was using the room anymore. He wouldn't be suprised...the only friend he had really managed to make here had been Heilyn and Bernard. The thought of Bernard stung. He would have imagined the wayward King would have at least visited him once.... Oh well... It was then that he heard a rather strange gait coming down the hall. His eyes narrowed slightly, he couldn't imagine what animal could possibly make that sound...

The sound that Mikael's long fingers made was.. an odd one, that and the gait in which he had to walk so as not to cause himself pain. It was a mincing little trot that was as funny as it was odd, but it got him from A to B. That wasn't all; the lad was balancing a huge easel right between a pair of fluffy, white fledgeling wings. Mikael was surprised when he saw who was walking down the room. "Mr. Severus!" The lad just about dropped what he was carrying, swaggering oddly under the weight of it. "You are well! I'd heard that you were getting better, but to see for myself.. Wow! I was beginning to wonder if you'd died and nobody was telling us anything! No offense.. but people start to talk when someone just falls off the face off the earth like that... How ya doing?

He finally saw who it was turn the corner. Ah...it was one of Heilyn's many children. She had managed to get pregnant for a second time and he had seen them before falling deathly ill. He was...one of the more stranger children from that birthing...well...they had all...truly been strange. Children...baby making....he would leave it to Heilyn....
He was suprised that the boy knew who he was, they had met so breifly and when he was much younger. He immidately was impressed. He was obviously a sharp boy, aware of his surroundings. He was silent as the boy flooded him with words...He looked down at himself, he was still scrawny and ill-ish looking...but...he supposed it was better then laying in a bed. "No offence taken." he said simply has he adjusted his robes (which were now slightly big on him...) before speaking again, "I have never been an overly popular member of this court." he finished with a curt smile, looking down at the strange boy, examining his fingers...and being unable to help but stare slightly.
"I must ask you....how is your mother? It has been years now since last I saw her...she didn't visit me while I was ill." while most would have said the last part bitterly, he spoke very matter of factly. It might have been the fact that he was still getting over his ailment...or that he took no offence to the fact no one had really taken any time to visit him. He knew who and what he was, he was just glad that he hadn't died...and could continue his work...and hopefully find himself a new place in the courts..."Is His Majesty Shinrai still Queen of the courts? I must admit...being cooped up in my room has kept me seperated from the politics of the court."
He made no mention of the boy's easel...or what he could possibly be doing with it.

"Oh..." Mikael replied rather awkwardly. Severus' slight emo-ness left the lad at a bit of a loss. "She's fine.. busy, as per usual. That's probably why she didn't visit."
Then when he kept talking, Mikael wondered if perhaps the man hadn't been ill so much as had been stuck under a rock. Had he just wandered out of his room that day? his head tilted just slightly to regard the man oddly before answering. "Yeah... It's been pretty stable, I'd think. Not so much as whispering of contesting individuals at all... Then again, I'm just a Court brat.. don't expect me to know anything about the actual inner workings of the Court." He laughed somehwat dryly. "Well, being in a room has obviously left you half starved as well. I don't remember you being quite that skinny. How about you come with me to put this in my Study and we'll get you some food? Ya gotta eat something.... But yeah.. I got my own little niche that I do my art in! It was some storage closet that.. pretty much nobody was using. I haven't got in trouble yet so I haven't sweated it too much."

Despite Severus' words, he didn't seem all that 'emo' persay. He was never one to show much other then maybe...grumpyness...and on occation, rage. Mostly his way of speaking tended to be matter of fact with a tinge of condicending....or just...plain condicending. But at this particular point in time, Severus was realizing he needed to loosen up just a tad. He had no friends really to speak of...and no one to trust...and after the fiasco with his servent...he could really use someone to trust in case he fell deathly ill again.
"That is good to hear. She was always very diligent." He said...dropping the whole subject of her not coming to visit him....he cared...but not enough to get overly dramatic about it. More really...did it come with the realization he needed to be more civil...and less...hard to be around.
Severus nodded. He hadn't known Shinrai...and well...when he had last been around...the courts had still been slightly chaotic after the death of Fino. He sighed a bit at the thought. It had thrown him out of wack as well. But there was nothing he could do about that now. His interest mostly lay in who he had to talk to in order to be a King in the courts again. Now that he was well...he could continue his life's ambition to be one of the Queens of the court. "Anything you would know would be benificial. As you said...I've been gone long enough to be thought dead....I have no idea whats going on anymore....My servent told me things...but I can't really trust that he was telling me truths." he left it at that. He didn't want to admit that he had been vulnerable...especially when he claimed to be able to detect most poisons....really it had been quite humiliating that he had almost died...
He looked down at himself again at the young one's words and nodded. He indeed was...unhealthily thin...or well...JUST healthily thin. "I suppose I am still recovering." he said softly, letting the boy finish speaking. He supposed he should take the boy up on his offer...though it was strange to be told to eat by a younger being. It would be the nice thing to do...
"That....might be nice." he said, "Lead the way then. I wouldn't worry to much about your studio, my own room is the potions dungeon, since I work there all the time I decided to take up residence there...and well...no one has cast me out yet."

Once they arrived at the studio, Mikael stumbled and swayed and finally maneuvered himself to be able to open the latch with his hind foot, walking in backwards before dumping his stuff quite unceremoniously onto the floor.
"Biped's gonna be a -blessing-, I tell ya." Mikael muttered more to himself than anything as he checked the easel for damages and propped it up against the wall. Though small, the workspace was relatively acceptable even if the fumes probably got to a rather obnoxious level if he left the door closed. Then again, with his mask he really didn't have much in the way of problems with things such as paint fumes.
Up against the wall was a particularly.. scandalous image. it portrayed a rather wicked looking Midori squirrel, nude... with the most interesting parts of her exposed. Aside from the main image were graphic details of reproductive organs, sectioned in a way not dissimilar to a textbook image. It seemed much more real though, as if he had been working off of a live model... Glancing upon it, Mikael suddenly felt the need to explain. "Oh.. that's actually a biology project. The reproductive system. I'm still looking for a male model who isn't completely immature about the material."

Severus would have been happy to help the boy open the door, but he seemed to be determinded to do it himself, and he wasn't about to intervine. Maybe he should, but well...if people liked making their lives harder for themselves...who was he to change that course? There he went being an ass again...he really had to work on that he supposed...
"I completely understand. I had hooves before..." he said raising a hand to wiggle his fingers slightly, as if to illustrate. Life would be hard for someone who didn't have ANY sort of fingers, let alone a Corvistownian bent on a self-sufficent lifestyle.
The smell was enough to knock a horse off it's feet, but Severus was used to rather noxious fumes. He did LIVE in a lab after all. Things were bound to smell horrible in a place like that. If not the potions...just the mildew on the wall...
It was then he noticed the image of the Midori Squirrel Woman, and he quickly turned his head to look the other way, his cheeks tinged pink. To say that Severus was skittish around sexual topics would be an understatement. It didn't help that you could see...EVERYTHING. "Yes...I suppose most prove to be rather immature, though I assume you probably had enough to choose from..." he said, trying to keep up a conversation and distract himself against the mental image burned into his eyes.

Mikael blinked rather innocently at the comment. "Well, this is actually a good friend of the family. It's not like I have women.. lining up to show themselves in such a way. She's almost like family so there isn't.. that weirdness there. She's an attractive lady, but.. you know what I mean?"
Then he caught the stricken look on the man's face. "Don't feel like you have to feel awkward. It's just nudity. Very natural stuff." Shoving the door open, he let fresh air waft into the room once again. "If I could convince the world that there is -nothing- dirty about what our body naturally does, I'd be doing a public service, I'd think."
"There's truth that some men never grow up. I actually haven't found a single male I'd feel -comfortable- doing art of. It's the Court of Hearts! Of course there are going to be some narcissists."

"I wasn't insinuating such a thing...You are young after all...I would be concerned for your well being if large amounts of older women were veying for your affections in such a manner. Can't be good for one's mental health down the line..." he said, a small tail lash the only movement he made. The truth of the matter was...most people probably didn't care where they were getting some as long as there was some to have. Only Severus probably would have been tramatized by such a thing.
He blushed a bit at the boy's estute observation of his behavior towards the drawing, and cursed mentally, trying to look at the picture again as if to show he wasn't intentionally trying to be awkward...and failed miserably. He closed his eyes a bit. "That is very noble of you...but some people are just set in their ways. You can't hope to change everyone's minds." he left it at that...the boy could infer whatever he wanted.
"You can't draw someone in your family? Or....do a self portrait?" he suggested...not particularly liking the visual image that seemed to plague him with the second question.

"Ah.. I see." Mikael responded quickly. Hopefully though, Severus wasn't too terribly set in his ways. The lad was sorely hoping to find someone he could artistically confide in.
He might have dropped the subject... but Severus said something that made him absolutely giggle. "Me? Oh.. oh no. I don't really feel comfortable actually portraying myself in art. It feels so strange. That, and it might even be a little.. arrogant, wouldn't it? To paint oneself?" He led the way down the empty halls, heading toward the kitchens."Besides... I'm hoping to use a biped model, which makes the search a bit more challenging, for sure. And as for painting the rest of my family.. I've gotten in trouble enough doing that." He laughed, obviously finding what he said funny. If one hadn't seen the mural he painted on the court's walls outside in the gardens, it wouldn't make much sense other than just the implication of it.
If he didn't know any better, he'd say Mr. Severus was deflecting a little. Was he possibly trying to deter any drafting into his little project? Now -that- was an idea! He grinned conspiratorially behind the safety of his mask.
