In the darkness beside Furgus' Pub, the slight figure of a creature bowed over into the alley could be made out in the dim lamplight. Hunched over and heaving, one could only assume that whoever it was had drank too much. Let them think that if they must, but it wasn't the case. This particular person hadn't had a drop to drink her entire life. Shakily, the biped squirrel straightened back up, the chain around her slight waist clinking noisily as she did so. She was beginning to get used to the ocean sway she felt when she wore her chain. Sometimes she even thought she liked it; only every now and then did she succumb to sickness.
Hacking up what was left in her through and spitting it out, she lifted up the rolled Weed joint she still held and took a drag. It would help clear the unsavory taste in her mouth, and soothe her nerves. Then, with a swagger reminiscent to that of a seaman just off a ship, she re-entered the pub where she had been sitting, reclaiming her table. Zuberi had came to the Capital to peruse the marketplace, and during her stay she found herself at the pub. She'd gotten herself in quite a bit of trouble in the past here. It would be a lucky break if no one noticed her in her biped form and new rank. The eye too... it had begun to glaze over a bit.. and she wasn't seeing out of it as well as she used to. For a while she'd thought it was merely a grain of sand in her eye that had irritated it, but now she knew it was something more. Zuberi could only assume that it was the chain and flask doing it to her. Why didn't she just take it off? It made her sick, and was blinding her in one eye. It seemed any sane person would have thrown it back into the sea where they had found it. Though she didn't know exactly why, she -wanted- these changes that was happening to her. It was a burning curiosity that she couldn't sate.. the sudden desire to know what she could become. What she could become? Yes, she'd been thinking of that a lot lately.. her powers. Was it that she actually wanted to become.. something else? More like something she was destined to be. Idly, her webbed fingers stroked the side of the sun bleached pine martin skull, listening to the vile green stuff within the flask slosh sickly as she did so. With her other hand, she brought her joint to her lips for another drag.

Ah, Furgus' Bar. It brought back so many wonderful memories. The night she beat and scared off a rapist attacking a whore, the evening she had that fateful second meeting with Seth... Heading in the direction of the bar, she found was in the mood to beat the crap out of people she didn't know. Before entering, she circled around to the back to check for trouble. She was disappointed to find nothing but a vomiting Squirrel. She let out a "tch" and was about to continue on her way when the figure stood. She recognized it immediately. ZuberiShe couldn't help but chuckle slightly. My, my, little squirrel! Drink a little more than we could handle? She was amused, but she did owe Zuberi a favor. She would follow her and make sure nobody would take advantage of her. Upon entering the building, however, a new story unfolded itself to the Coyote. Now that there was more light, Heilyn could see Zuberi was quite sober, but there was still something horribly wrong with her. Her eye was... becoming milky and glazed. A grotesque contrast to the bright green gem the other eye was. Not hesitating, she went straight up to Squirrel... who was now lighting one up. Her eyes flicked down to the strange new ornament the woman now sported for only a second. "Hello, Zuberi," she said in a warm tone, though there seemed to be something urgent in the undertone, "Mind if I sit with you?"

As soon as the familiar figure came before her, a smile stretched across her features. Heilyn was an imposing figure, but with a mixture of having gotten to know her and Heilyn's good mood made it so that the squirrel wasn't immediately intimidated by the bog woman's presence. She blew smoke out of her nose before speaking. "Hm.. I don' mind at all. I'd actually been hoping to run into you and the family." Pulling her hand away from the pine martin skull, she gestured to the seat across from her.
Looking in the woman's direction (the milky one staring slightly 'off'), she propped her head on her chin and took another drag from her smoke. She grinned, but her good eye then flicked toward the door before looking back to Heilyn. "I'd have thought Seth would be out with you... dumped the kids onto him and escaped while you could?" She could hardly fathom the hardships of parenthood, but having gotten to know both of the children she could understand how they could be... a handful.

Heilyn was a little more relieved as the Squirrel had seemed to recover from whatever had ailed her just previously. While she had always found it annoying to attempt to communicate with a stoned person, Seth provided her with at least a little experience. She just had to get everything she needed to know out before the drugs kicked in. After that, she just had to see the woman to a safe place until she sobered up.
"Sure," she answered quickly. In truth, she was in the Capital on business, but that would require too much lengthy explanation.
"Zuberi, are you alright? You don't look well," she asked the Midori woman in a low voice. She couldn't stop staring at that eye...
Tinman chirped and sniffed the air. The combination of weed smoke from the woman and the booze scent from the bar reminded the Tove of Seth. He edged closer until Heilyn shooed him back. She did not want him distracting her just yet.

As if out of reflex, Zuberi's hand went from under her chin to her eye. One could only assume that was what Heilyn was referring to. She was feeling relaxed from her smoke, but coherent. She didn't huff and hold the stuff like some people did, and used the more natural of blends instead of that powerful stuff people got stoned off of in the capital. "You mean this? Oh yes... it's fine. Just going blind in it is all." Her gaze followed that of the tove curiously for a moment before looking down at the bleached, frightening looking skull. "I think it's the flask that is doing it to me..." She caressed the bleached bone, running a claw within its eye socket almost affectionately.
Then, she laughed, swaying a bit in her seat. "It sounds so much crazier out loud, but I just can't bring myself to part with it. When I wear it... I feel as if I'm out at sea.. on a boat.. even if it does make me a little sick sometimes." Then she looked to Heilyn, almost imploringly... seeking affirmation of her actions, probably. "I'm changing, Heilyn.. and it's not just the flask. I feel that something interesting may happen if I keep wearing it, and sometimes I wonder what I should do about the contents of the flask..."

Just going blind in it is all.
Oh, is that all? Hmm, yes. Good thing it isn't anything IMPORTANT. Yanno. It's JUST AN EYEBALL.
At the next statement, Heilyn eyed the flask with suspicion. She never trusted magical items that altered the person who was wearing it. Why would ANYBODY wear such a thing, know it had some unknown effect... or even knowing the effect... like the loss of an eye.
"Yes, it does sound crazy," she said in a blunt but quiet tone then shook her head, "I know you're attached to the thing and you're a grown woman and can make decisions for yourself... but as someone who cares about you, you need to get rid of that thing, Zuberi." Heilyn shuddered at the thought of her doing anything with that horrid-looking green, murky liquid...
Tinman was, however, attracted to the object. He began to drool a little as he looked at it, feeling hungry. He turned to Heilyn and gave her a nudge on the cheek.

Heilyn was perturbed, obviously. Zuberi's head dropped as if she were relenting to being chastised for some great wrong. Then she smirked, but not really in a way that seemed she was indignant about anything Heilyn had said, but rather as if something were ironic. "At least you acknowledge that I am an adult." Zuberi said admittedly. Still, it didn't seem like she agreed with Heilyn's answer.
"Thank you though.. for caring." And she smiled. "I know it seems bad, Heilyn.. but I think this may turn into a good thing. Even now... sometimes I can remember things so vividly... I see them in this eye.. but it's still blurry. As my sight lessens in this eye... my memories become more vivid... It's a good thing.. Though I admit if I experiment with what's -in- the flask.. well, I have no idea what would happen then." Chuckling, she took one last drag from her joint before snuffing it out in the clay ash tray on the table. Taking notice of the tove's interest in the flask, she grinned. "Well, he seems to approve. Cute little thing, he is. I've always wanted a little tove or a bander.... something to keep me company."

Her eyebrow twitched as she listened to the explanation of the object by the Squirrel. Recalling memories... perfectly? in the eye she was going blind in? She gently pushed the Tove away from her face. He nipped at her fingers and settled himself on the table and wrapping himself around with his tail. He watched the two for a little while then turned his attention to the bar patrons as the two women talked. Every once in a while, the Tove's attention would return to that flask...
"Hmm," the corner of her lips twitched into an almost smile, "He's alright. Once you get them trained properly, they make excellent pets, but they're a little hard to find. Banders... I never much cared for those. However, you should consider getting yourself a man," she smirked, "They make the pets of all.
"But in all seriousness, Zuberi... just... take care of yourself, alright? Rhi would be devastated if anything happened to you."

As Heilyn talked, she absently watched the tove. It was rare to find such a handsome one; the one she'd seen in the bazarr was a frightening ball of fluff with spines sticking out its back. Personally she would want to find one that was a bit more... cuddly. Zuberi laughed a bit too lamely at the comment about men, shaking her head. "The kind of man I want is the sort that can't be tamed, I'm afraid.." How terribly... enigmatic. As she spoke, Zuberi's gaze drifted off, her smile curling into a more tender, secretive one. It seemed only Zuberi would know those secrets, it seems...
At the mention of Rhi though, she frowned. "No... that wouldn't do at all, not at all...." She ran her fingers through her hair worriedly. "How is she? Is she doing well?"

Heilyn tilted her head at Zuberi's mention of 'her kind of man'. Couldn't be tamed? At first, this was rather unexpected, but then Heilyn considered the flask and its effects on the woman... and the fact that she still fucking wore it despite of this... It seemed that Zuberi had a little thing for trouble, didn't she? She wouldn't've expected it, considering all she'd heard about the superstitious little Squirrel.
The wistful, secretive little smile unnerved Heilyn a little, but she figured it must've been the weed.
"Rhi..." the woman muttered in a tone that sounded an awful lot of regret, "She's... well. She and I still aren't getting along as well as I like, but she's healthy and happy for the most part, so at least I'm not a failure in that part of my job as a parent." The bitterness in her voice increased as she neared the end of her statement. Taking a breath a small smile made its way onto her face, "She's dying to know when she can come visit you next... I personally, would like to see this business with that... object one way or another before then..." She eyed the flask once more.
