Zuberi listened and nodded occasionally, frowning at how they weren't doing as well as she'd hoped. Rhi was a fickle creature indeed; it seemed one heartfelt reunion wouldn't undo years of.... whatever the hell had been done.
At Heilyn's continued suspicion about the flask, Zuberi couldn't help but giggle. "You let Seth run about with those blasted... blade things all willy nilly and you're worried about a rusted chain?" Obviously Zuberi found it amusing that she considered her chain dangerous. Crazy squirrel woman.. well if one keeps something around them long enough, anything can become normal to them. "I don't keep things like this out when children are around anyhow. My aunts and uncles would flay me alive if their children came home with a bout of seasickness from this thing. No... I lock this thing up in the cupboard with my Weed."
"My father... left my mother a few weeks back." Well, that came up out of the blue, didn't it? "I think I'm more out of sorts with that than I am the chain... not that I didn't see it coming. He hasn't truly been happy for years..."

Heilyn laughed.
"Yes, but Seth knows how to use 'those blasted blade things', and quite effectively, might I add. I would hardly call it willy-nilly." especially with the permanent effect the things had? Yeah, not even Seth used them lightly. "But, I do thank you. I know my children and how they love to get into things. As easy as it would be to steal some of their Father's Weed, it's good to know blinding magic chains that cause seasickness on land are out of their reach," and she meant every word of it.
She paused and blinked at the next statement. Well, that was random. Where in the hell did that come from? She paused for a while and said "oh" and there was another long pause. She looked at Zuberi with an odd, unreadable expression. "I'm sorry to hear that?" The Squirrel was probably just high by now.

Realizing how odd that must have sounded, Zuberi immediately seemed contrite. "Oh! Sorry I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable... just reporting what's going on in the family, is all. It was one of those things where everyone kind of saw it coming.."
Zuberi stamped out her joint; for having just smoked one she didn't seem too worse for the wear. It probably had something to do with how frequently she used it, and the strength of what she was using as to why she wasn't so terribly affected. "So... is Seth still in.. the business, so to speak? I would have figured he'd be settling down with having kids and such.I worry about you guys.... the courts always spell trouble and I don't care what you say in the matter. The more power people have... and the higher they are on the totem pole the more dangerous they become." Her brows knit over her concerned eyes. "You worry about my tamperings with juju, but I worry about what -they- will do if something went wrong.." Her suspicion of the courts was thinly veiled... but then again she really didn't try to hide it. Heilyn and Seth were trusted of course, but Zuberi always worried about the others. Those sorts would probably not hesitate to scream 'off with their heads!' at the slightest inconvenience someone below them caused.

"No, I'm not uncomfortable, I'm just at a loss of what to say because that statement was so irrelevant." Ah. the Bog Dwellers. There was very little they were afraid to just come out and say.
Ah, yes. The business. Zuberi was one of the very, very few they ever allowed to know about Seth's true profession. "He is." The only reason I allow him to continue it is because I use him to keep things safe for me and my family. She remembered fondly a servant who quickly became disposed of after she'd caught her spitting on and attempting to kick her son. Oh yes. Not only was she fired... "I am well aware of the dangers of politics. I'm know I am not without my hypocrisies. But I have a job to perform for my Home." Zuberi was also one of the lucky few who new where Heilyn's loyalties lie. It didn't matter where she was, Court or no, Heart or no, so long as she could serve her Homeland, she didn't really care.
...then again, that type of thinking could be found out and used against her.
She shrugged. "Just be careful," she said to the Squirrel. "It would be rather irritating to find another friend to replace you." Heilyn had an odd way of choosing friends. The people she classified as such were simply the people she could trust, and it wasn't uncommon for a few to not even be aware of that fact. Vaguely she wondered if Zuberi was aware of what regard Heilyn held her in, but that thought was quickly put out of her mind by the debate of whether or not she should order a drink. She was always so paranoid these plebeians would attempt to harm a Heart Noble.

"Hm... irrelevant or a mere topic change? A fine line, methinks.." Zuberi muttered more to herself than anything, tapping the side of her furred cheek thoughtfully with a claw.
"Oh, ya know I'd never intentionally irritate ya." Zuberi gave the softest, most discreet of grins. Even in her weed induced euphoria she knew that such comments were not to be taken lightly. That's probably as much a display of affection as she could ever hope from the woman, aside from that rare instance when she's brought Rhi home.. but that was a very special circumstance indeed.
She'd started staring off into the distance as her thoughts wandered; not uncommon for one who had just smoked a joint. Zuberi gave a small, wistful sigh, unable to wipe the grin off her face.
"You know... I'd like to get me house expanded... it's so small I can hardly move about in it meself. Having the children over make it so much more obvious that it needs more room. I think I'll do that in the future. For once I'd like the whole lot of you to be able to come down and visit."
