((Peder-Muse is poking at me and I have to answer)). Peder grunted as he threw his alarm across the room. He looked around groggily, not quite sure where he was at first. Then it became clear and he wiped the sleepers out of his eyes. He had a quaint little room, but certainly not something that would impress his new girlfriend, Dilis he would imagine. So far he had done everything he could think of not to bring her here but she didn't seem to mind so far. He sat and thought for a moment before he realized why exactly the alarm was waking him this morning... he needed to find some work! His company had double booked and he had thought Pathos was going to get it fixed but in the end, both clients decided to cancel and take their money with them. So now here he was without wages for the next week. He needed to figure something out and fast. He had the idea to go to Capital City and see what he could finagle. He got up slowly, ruffled his hair back into place with his paw and headed out. Luckily it didn't take much for Peder to get ready to leave. As he got to the heart of Capital City, he thought me might ask around to see if anyone needed his work. That might work...

Zuberi didn't find her in the Capital too often. Pretty much, the only time she came into the city was when she needed something. In her current state, she certainly wouldn't be coming out into the open unless she had a particular agenda. Sitting underneath one of the quaint umbrella tables of a cafe, her dark hole of an eye surveyed the goings on around her carefully. She'd changed; that was for sure. Sparkling emerald eyes had changed; one was a white, veiny looking thing and obviously blind while the other was a dark, empty hole of an eye. There was indeed an eye in there, but one would have to do a double take to notice that as the thing didn't seem to reflect light. The most disturbing thing would probably be her tiny winglike protrusions and her long, thin fangs. Even the waitress had seemed hesitant to serve her. Zuberi didn't let it get to her too badly though; hopefully a visit to Cauter's shop to buy a particular item would help her harsh and evil appearance. Aside from her looks though, the morning was bright and with just enough warmth in the air to keep her comfortable. Yes, aside from being a monster, it was a rather nice day! Then, a familiar figure caught her eye. He was looking as if he'd just woke up, but it was certainly Peder. Heedless of how he'd react to how she might have changed, she grinned as he walked by the table. "Talk about long time no see!"

Peder was running out of ideas when he heard a familiar voice, one he found to be quite pleasant.
"Zuberi love, how are ya?" he asked as he gently kissed her hand. "You're right it has been-" he stopped short and noticed her appearance had indeed changed.
"Oh god Zuberi, what happened to you? Are you alright? Well no matter, only tell if you are up to it. I'm just glad to see a friendly face" he smiled. "I was just trying to find someone who needed my expertise."
"Seems though not many people are out and about today, but I guess that's my luck."
He wasn't one to give up, it was just frustrating to be put into a situation like this. Damn Pathos. Next time he will just have to be more careful in making appointments. The last thing the company needed was to get a bad wrap and have his usual clients from the courts stop calling for him.

Zuberi's ears just about dropped all the way behind her head at his surprise. She might have pulled away from him had he waited a moment longer before his normal demeanor returned. She must have been an idiot to forget her appearance, and her embarrassment was quite fresh in her mind even as he continued speaking.
"Oh yes, I'm fine... Just dabbling with a few enchanted items here and there... I felt it was appropriate since my job description deals with the occult and such. I decided to drop the travel agent ruse and go full time Priestess." She tried to play it off as if it were casual, but she couldn't help but run her hand through her locks self consciously.
"Looking for work?" And then Zuberi looked just a touch worried for the man. "Are things not going well? I hate to think ye be out here 'peddlin' the streets', friend."

Peder kicked himself for acting the way he did but she was a good friend of his so he felt it only natural he be concerned. Though from what she said, it did seem to make a little more sense. To ease the moment he put on a happy face and was glad the subject as changed.
"Things are going alright, Pathos just went and upset a client with double-booking and they decided to leave rather than figure it out. But it's alright, I should have a client in no time. It's nice of you to worry, but rest assured that I am in no real trouble." The only people who cared was Dilis and his brother, Pathos. Having friends was a rare commodity that Peder was just recently beginning to explore and Zuberi was a kind one at that.
"So enough about me, what brings you out of Midori today? I hope nothing too boring" he laughed, he knew anything Zuberi did was bound to be exciting.

Zuberi nodded quietly as she listened to his problems. Well, that was quite a problem indeed! Then again Peder was quite the resourceful creature so she didn't doubt his ability to get himself out of a bind.
"Is it that strange for me to be out and about? Well, I suppose it is. I really do keep to my roots, don't I?" She gave a touch of a giggle at that. Regardless, she gestured to her face. "I heard Cauter has quite an interesting item in his shop; you have to admit that my appearance is rather.. jarring. I'm hoping maybe a beauty potion will ease this monstrous look into something a bit more.. appealing to look at."
She gestured to her winglike appendages. "Not that I regret my tamperings, mind you. I'm thrilled to me bones to have these wingy things. Maybe after a bit more experimentation in my craft I can get these babies to grow to a good flying size. My father had wings, you see. I've always been so envious of that."

"Strange? Not really, I just don't see you out of Midori very often. It's nice to have you here though." Peder smiled sympathetically at Zuberi as she explained. It was all coming together for him now and he kind of felt like a heel for making a scene as he did. So she had wanted something different, who didn't?
"Well Zuberi dear, no matter what you do you will always be beautiful to me." he grinned as he put his paw around her in a sort of hug. She was dear to him and he didn't want to make her feel bad or self-concious, he was just prone to worry and he hoped she understood that.
"On a better note, if you haven't eaten I would love to take you to breakfast and catch up some. Dilis is out on one of her little "play-dates" so I am really playing it solo today. Don't break my heart and say no, now" he laughed.

Ah, good ol' Peder, putting on the charm to put a smile on her face. "Oh, what's this? Flattery and the promise of food? Things certainly haven't changed too much, have they?" But even as she mock-questioned his motives, she was already standing up and smoothing out her dress.
"But yes, Dilis... that's the girl you brought to Midori yes? The one with the most lovely human form? And the pearls? She could go on; her magical eye was running all the past memories of her perfectly in her mind. The look in Peder's eyes at he question was all she needed as affirmation, and she grinned. "And 'play-dates', you say?" Her brows raised curiously over her mismatched black and white eyes."You know, you didn't divulge much in Midori when you two came down; with how secretive you two seemed, I can't help but suspect there's an interesting story behind ou two."

Ouch, guess he had said too much. Ah well, he didn't mind explaining all that much... she was trustworthy enough not to tell anyone anyway. "Well now, I haven't eaten and I'm assuming that neither have you so why not?" he grinned. He walked with her towards the nearest diner and decided on acknowledging her question.
"Yes, that's my Dilis; she's quite the girl but her father is kind of an overbearing oaf. He makes an agenda everyday for her to go out with a different guy in power or at least one with a wealthy family. That's probably why he doesn't like me very much, I just simply build for the courts; I will never be in one" he sighed.
"That's what I mean by 'play-date'. She goes out with them for a few hours to appease Greagoir but at the end of the day, she's with me" he smiled weakly.
"It sucks and all but what can I do? He's pretty important and someone who doesn't take lightly to messing up his plans. We left for Midori to get away from all the madness but well... you can imagine. You know I was planning to propose to Dilis last time we were there? I let my stupid head get to me though and caved. I still carry the ring around hoping that one day I'll have the balls to do it" he said sadly, he had wished that things would be different but right now he couldn't see the rainbow through the storm.

Her easy smile sobered as he talked, obviously being quite thoughtful about her friend's dilemma. He was certainly in a pickle, it seemed. She could understand his issues in a way; some families where she lived still traded -livestock- for the favor of the bride-to-be's family. Something told her that Dilis could not be bought with chickens or stone buildings. If there was anything she knew of the courts though, gold and jewels was generally their native tongue.
"I don't envy her for being in such a dilemma." Zuberi admitted, running her claws absently through the fur on her cheek.
He had intended to propose to her.. how terribly sweet of him. For a moment she wondered if Dilis would have actually said yes. Never mind her heart; would her blue blood let her succomb? She'd never divulge those thoughts to Peder; he didn't need to know of her distrust of the Courts. "Well, you got two options. Either you become what you need to become to gain her and her family's favor.. or you present yourself how you are. Is the time right for the question of marriage? If it is... there be no sense waiting."
Zuberi did not seem to trust her own words, and she still wore a frown. "I just hope she feels de same way about you, friend. I'd hate te see you hurt."
