Peder was grateful he could talk to Zuberi, she was a good friend to him especially when he had no one else. He didn't want to bother Dilis with any of this, she had enough problems as it was just living with her father day to day. Greagoir was not a forgiving man and he was not happy about them just taking off for the week. He hoped it didn't hurt his chances with Dilis any.
"Yea, we have ourselves some trouble right now but I have faith we'll make it through all this" he grinned, feeling happy once again.
" 'Spose bringing flowers to her when I ask wouldn't hurt, ay?" She loved roses, blue roses specifically. Said Greagoir used to leave them for her mother while she was alive. He just wished he knew of a way he could convince Greagoir to give him her hand in marriage.

"Assuming she isn't allergic to flowers, aye, wouldn't hurt at all." Zuberi grinned, despite the lameness of her joke. "But anywho, I find myself to be quite the matchmaker, I think. So far my luck at bringing people together has been relatively good. No guarantees, mind you.. but I like to think I do more help than harm."
Honestly, if she were in his shoes, she's whisk Dilis off her feet and spirit her away to another region... elope and have a handfasting ceremony to tie the knot for good. Settle down.. have some kids..
Zuberi realized she had zoned off for a moment, and she hastily jogged herself out of that daze with a sheepish grin. She was guilty of being too much of a romantic, no matter how hopeless her own romantic situation seemed. Folding her arms in front of her, she considered a thought for a moment before speaking. "Do you think... she be as serious as you? I mean.. would she follow you anywhere?" That was a heavy question for anyone, and the sympathetic look on her face told that she didn't necessarily expect him to know.

Peder laughed at her joke, no matter how corny it was... it helped him when he was feeling kind of down as it was. "You a matchmaker, ay? Well then I guess that's a good sign fo' me." He could really use all the help he could get.
If he was smart, he would disregard what Greagoir wanted and just ask her... he just needed to find the courage to do it. He tensed a bit at her question, it was straight forward but still...
"Well- I don't know. I guess I will have to ask and see. I hope she would though..." the indecision in his voice is what bothered him most. He wanted to be able to know Dilis was there for him and to know she wouldn't hesitate to be with him. Though he did realize the cost would be great for her, since Greagoir would most likely disown her and cast her out... he wasn't sure he could do that to her though.

She too caught the hesitance in his tone, and her lips pursed thoughtfully. Taking action could be liberating, but then again, it could potentially ruin what they currently had. As they turned into the restaurant though, she would speak, being considerate not to talk too loud as they were seated.
"Affairs of the heart are.. complicated. If you continue on your present course, nothing may ever change. If you are fine with that, then no action is necessary." But this was when she raised a finger warningly. "But if there is emptiness in your heart, and you feel that in order to be happy then you two must twine your lives together in matrimony.. then you should act... but you risk.. a lot. Then again, you may risk nothing, and possibly gain nothing. It's a gamble... a gamble of the heart."
As usual, Zuberi ordered milk and a rare steak. Beef was too rare a commodity in Midori for her not to indulge herself while in the Capital. She even had the audacity to order a salad. Hah, it was difficult to order like a lady when what you requested is a bloody slab of meat!

Peder sighed inwardly and nodded at Zuberi's word. She was right and he did need to do something about this before he burst. He could always just rank up to a high rank and not go for the title... that may appease Greagoir. And it would keep him from having to accept any high responsibility. Perhaps then he would be good enough to propose to his beautiful Dilis. He hoped she said yes but he needed to settle down, no sense putting the horse before the cart ay?
"What about you Zub, you got yourself any suitors of your own?" he grinned turning to the Midori Squirrel. "You have to have someone chasin ya with a face like that" his face was more gentle this time, showing that he really meant it. Zuberi was the nicest person he met save Dilis and he felt she deserved all the happiness in the world, including someone to share her life with.

In that instant, Zuberi's expression went from pleasant to.. strangely awkward. For a moment she looked as if she didn't know how to answer it. Then again, how could she? Ridiculously in love with some man who was long dead. She considered the question carefully, and it seemed she finally found the answer. "No.. not really.. None that I'd really turn an eye to, really." Then again those few suitors would be people of very little consequence... men in her village... tourists who had become enamored with her and wanting a little romantic fling on their vacations... she turned them all down. None of them had what she was looking for.
"I just... haven't found anyone worth my time, I suppose. I mean... either they're people I grew up with or complete strangers that are coming to Midori for a vacation. I'm afraid the people from my village want me for my status, and the tourists... well..." She gave a dismissive snort. "They're just looking for a bit of fun in the sun that I won't be introducin' dem to."

Peder considered Zuberi's expression for a moment and figured it was best not to press her on the issue. "Well you are a stunner Zuberi and any guy should be lucky to have someone like you" he said giving her a quick hug.
"Don't fret, there is hope for ya yet" he grinned his usual goofy grin at her. He didn't want to sound too corny but he knew with her personality and build even, that she would find someone soon enough. She just had to put herself out there and look... but that was if she really wanted that. If not... he just hoped she was happy doing whatever it was in her life.
"I can understand that, tourists come through the Selkie Lakes all the time wantin' to have a fling with a local. Course, some of us are a sorry bunch so it doesn't happen often" he joked.
