Penelope glanced at the women around her, carefully hiding her bemusement behind a pleasant expression. The decadence, the opulence - it was interesting. Nelo knew several Yarrows, of course, thanks to her travels, but never had she seen so many, or so many clustered in one place. They seemed to feed off of each other, always one-upping each other with expensive jewelry, clothing and accessories. She'd never felt quite so out of place; it was a new feeling. Nelo never fit in anywhere, but never had she not fit in either - she blended, became invisible. Here, in this gorgeous city with gorgeous people, she was a large furry blue freak with scary bone piercings. The hybrid let out a short choke of a snicker and pushed herself off the curb. There was a delightful coffee shop behind her. She went in, ignoring the strange looks with a smile, and sat down at one of the tables. She may stick out, but no respectable businessman would pass up a perfectly good sale.

"Oh my -gosh-, I can't believe this was actually on -sale-!" Hoofs clopping on the cobblestone, the Yarrow equine did a gay little pirouette in the streets, brandishing a newly bought, blue and green purse from the well known Terah Gladly line. "All because it's not -pink-.. or yellow. I don't know about you, Tracey, but I like to accentuate my colors with complimenting ones."Giiirrrl...." The Yarrow muskrat drawled, adjusting the fake breasts that the male in disguise wore. "You are a special kind of diva. As in special, I mean you're damned crazy. Quit dancing in the streets like some fool!""Oh -no- sweetheart, you're just jealous because you. Ain't. Got. These. Moves!" Each word was accented with a shake of the equine's trim, sculpted little behind. The muskrat rolled hisr eyes, setting the manicured hand on a most ample hip before turning away from his extravagant friend. "Well, I'm heading back, Brandy. All the sun is starting to get to me, and the last thing I need is for my fur to get bleached out.Why did Tracey always have to be the party killer? Brandy sighed. "Alright then, you go on. I'm going to get me a latte.""Alright, girl. Don't you DARE go for the whipped cream, either. We don't want you getting fat!"Brandy laughed, waving the fellow whore off with a bright, and very fake smile. "Don't you worry about me!" Bitch.Brandy -did- opt to get the whipped cream. Unlike that brutish, mannish looking cow, he would hardly have to skimp on the pleasures of the world to keep from exploding in a wave of fat. Crossing his legs with practiced ease, he took a cautious sip from his drink, looking around at the scenery. Pink, yellow, purple.. pink, yellow, purple.. pink, yellow... Blue? A delicate brow arched. A foreigner? They didn't get many of them in the Yarrow; normally if they stayed too long, the pungent flora made them ill. And... were they Hisstor? This person had none of the coloring that he'd seen in the books, but those piercings were quite particular. Should he leave them be? It might be the safest route, but Brandy was a curious creature. "I'd daresay that you stick out in these parts, dear." He then gestured, with a most delicate flick of his wrist, to her cup. "What are you having?"

Nelo sat back and enjoyed her mocha truffle. She would say this for the Yarrows - they had damned good coffee. It was probably to please all the diva women here.. but hey, they were entertaining. She sipped her coffee and debated about ordering some sort of pastry, just to get stares from the women seated around her; she probably seemed excessively large to them, despite the her badger heritage. Somehow she had a feeling she wouldn't be meeting any long-lost cousins here.
Just when she had decided on getting a tasty danish, someone became brave enough to approach her. Nonxenophobes, hurrah! She raised a bushy eyebrow to match his, a smile creeping onto her face. "Me, stick out? Never. Don't you people have colors you can't find on a baby blanket here?" She said with a grin, bravely letting her sarcasm creep through in response to his friendliness.
"Mocha truffle. Coffee and chocolate, it's genius." She took another sip, then gestured to the seat opposite her. "Feel free to join me."

Brandy's smile turned into that of a self satisfied, pursed smirk, lips puffing out just slightly as he proudly displayed his purse. "Actually, I succeeded today. Blue and green, not a spot of pink on it... squashed in the back of the bargain bin at the Terah Gladly store. As for the pelts. Well, that can't much be helped." He said with a giggle.
Upon being invited to sit, he was happy to oblige, setting his new purse in an empty chair. "Good choice! That one is absolutely delish. This is one of the best coffee shops in the Yarrow, I'm sure." Well, as far as he knew; he'd never really traveled outside of this town, save for when he was too young to remember.
"I'm Brandy, by the way." He offered his hand to shake, though it faltered as he took a glance at her claws. Quickly, he smiled, saving face with a quick comment. "Oh my. Do be gentle with me."

Nelo leaned forward to examine the purse, then gently tipped it with the side of one claw to look at some of the beading. "Beautiful! Her work is fabulous. A bit too blingy for me though, I'm afraid." She sat back in her chair, grateful for the generous cushions Yarrows seemed to be fond of. "One of you should dye your fur green or blue just to stick out. You can't expect foreigners like me to do all the work, afterall." She grinned, the tip of her claws tapping a fast rhythm against her coffee cup.
"Is it? I'm glad I made a good choice then. I picked it because it was pretty.. but everything's pretty here, I've noticed." Nelo glanced up at the fancy woodwork adorning the windows and the flowery paintings gracing the walls. You certainly didn't see things like this in Hisstor.
"Penelope. Nelo. Nice to meet you." She grinned at his reaction to her claws. Her paws were certainly intimidating. Nelo didn't mind. It made people wary of stealing from her. She held out a single claw, an eyebrow raised. "I only slash when offended, no worries."

Brandy gave a polite giggle at the comment about dying one's fur. Little did this young lady know, but 'sticking out' was something he certainly did not want to do. "Oh goodness... but then the plan may backfire and everyone will start doing it, and the reason for doing it in the first place would be meaningless. Trends are funny like that."
Carefully, he took the claw and shook it gently, most amused at their unconventional greeting. "Well, it is a pleasure to meet you! And I assure you that if I say anything offensive, I very much didn't mean it that way! Oh goodness.. listen to me go on and on, and both of our coffees are getting cold." As if to right this grievous wrong, he took a sip of his drink and smiled, allowing for a few moments of silence before setting down his cup.
"So, what brings you to the Yarrow?"

She shrugged, gently running her claws through some of her blue fluff. She was tempted to go try to set some running fad.. it wouldn't work, though. Nelo wasn't conventionally pretty enough for a place like Yarrow. "That's unfortunate. I like yellow and pink and purple, but this place is a sensory overload.." She said, intending it honestly rather than meanly.
"Oh, you didn't. I was just informing you." Nelo replied, still grinning. It would figure that a Yarrow would have a bad reaction to her claws.. weren't they supposed to have a tough reputation? She felt mostly safe in her femininity walking in, but this one girl looked as if she could destroy the entire feel of the place with one spider sighting.
She obligingly sipped at her coffee, then frowned and added some creamer and stirred it up with one of her claws. What brought her to Yarrow? "Nothing specific. I'm a traveler. I've been in Yarrow before but never really got to know one of the cities. I was in the area so felt it was the time, I suppose."

"A lovely time of year for it, surely" Brandy agreed.
Ah, but a traveler. That sounded most exciting, especially for a Yarrow who wasn't allowed to leave this town. "That certainly sounds exciting though. I don't travel much myself; my work pretty much keeps me homebound. Tell me, have you been to the Capital? How is the shopping there?" Taking an even keener interest in the conversation now, he leaned in a bit. He'd never been outside the Yarrow, and had always wanted to go somewhere, anywhere than in the Yarrow.. if only for a little while. Not that he didn't like his life here, but there was something that came with a bright mind that made a person wonder what was outside of the brothel walls... Especially a melting pot of breeds, regions and ideals that was the Capital. He didn't know much about the Capital, but some Yarrows he had served had been there before and told him snippets here and there.

Ah, the Capital. How did one describe the Capital? It all depended on your point of view... and which part you were in. Personally she found the whole city rather obnoxious, but that was her anticrowd personality speaking. "I've been to the Capital many times, yes. I usually end up there once a year or so. It's not my favorite place to be, but that's probably because I've been there too many times." She knew people who'd lived in the country their entire lives found it fascinating... but Nelo much preferred to live in small towns - or even better, in the middle of no where.
"The shopping?" She grinned, amused. "Are you sure you want to ask me that question? I usually only frequent food markets.... but I've been told it's excellent. Many designers and other important people like to live in the trendy district. If you're looking for a firsthand description, though, you're going to have to ask someone else I'm afraid."

It was a little obvious that the badger was throwing him a bit of a bone. How someone could dislike the greatest mecca of trade was absolutely beyond him. To see so many people... so many -women-! He'd never dare breathe a word of this thought, but he very much enjoyed the part Yarrows and the very rare non-Yarrow woman he'd been hired to be with. They were such a delicious change of pace, and were almost always more considerate as lovers than some of the rougher females who wanted nothing more than to violently use a male orifice. Brandy made a point to ask for days off when he knew they were scheduled to come in.
Brandy looked genuinely disappointed that his acquaintance has little more to say on shopping. Once again, a thought kept to himself, but he likened her a bit to the more butch of Yarrow women. He wouldn't mention that, though. It seemed she thought very much that the stereotype was that most women were quite feminine, prissy. Brandy himself found that there was actually a nice balance of dominant and submissive minded. Some regions would call it 'male' minded. Brandy knew better than to think that way. He was male, and was nothing like a dominant female. Oh no. Brandy certainly likened himself to lipstick.
"Well.. I'd daresay I'm a touch disappointed, but I'll certainly get over it." Brandy quickly recovered, flashing a quick smile. "I would hope that one would expect an interesting array of people there, though. I hear they have some of the most.. unique mutations there."
There was a short pause, Brandy's gaze roving over the badger's frame for a moment before he mustered the gall to ask. "Are.. those.. mutations? Or are they merely pierced?"
