"If there's anything specific you'd like to know, ask away. I'll be your fountain of knowledge! Don't get out much, do you?" Nelo knew many Yarrows chose to stay in the city, mostly because they had serious anti-men problems. She'd seen too many roving around in the cities for it to be true of all, though.
"The Capital has no shortage of unique people. I've seen just about every realm and breed combination possible, I think, but the Capital seems to attract the very odd ones." She shrugged, sipping at her coffee. People gathered where they felt most accepted. Her? She didn't fit or not fit in anywhere, really, though she had her moments where she desperately wished she'd been born part Hisstor. The clans appealed to her more than anything in the world ever had.
At the gentle mention of her piercings, she had to grin. "I wish they were mutations, but they're simply piercings. I was gifted with them once I left my borrowed clan. I would gladly have more elaborate ones, but I have no Hisstor blood so they're very reluctant to let allow me them." She wiggled her eyebrows, and fingered one. "Finger bones. Aren't they pretty?" She asked, just to see if it would freak him out.

Brandy visibly recoiled, eyes wide. "Y-you mean those are real bone?" Why had that surprised him? Perhaps it wasn't really disconcerting until someone actually points out that.. you know.. they're REAL fingers! How horrible!
Then.. carefully, he leaned forward just a touch, eyes narrowing as he carefully looked them over. They at least -looked- pretty real. Then again he'd have to take the badger's word for it. His schooling hadn't really involved having real skeleton models to look at. But yes, he could very much tell where the joints were... he reflexively touched his own fingers, identifying the joints. He swallowed dryly, before remembering the coffee in his hands and taking a sip to wet his throat. Then his voice dropped lower, almost conspiratorial. "So you're saying those fingers -belonged- to someone once... No wonder they were so hesitant. It was... probably a family member or something, right? Or maybe.. from people who donated their bones. I don't know how that works."
Then he paused again, eyes widening if that were possible. "Wait.. you've been to the Hisstore Wastes.. been there.. and you were in a clan? Isn't that a big deal?"

Nelo laughed good naturedly at his obvious surprise. She always got a kick from that. People seemed to think it was strange an unnatural, but it had always seemed perfectly normal to her. Then again, if you saw something every day for two years you could get a tad desensitized to it. "Yes, they're real. From a real live dead person." She punned, snickering.
"Not a family member of mine, but someone else's, certainly. I can't say I know whose, since I never actually met my generous benefactor." The mix replied, purposefully not really answering the question. Most people didn't want to know how bone ornamentation really came about, even if they thought they did.
She sobered at the last question. "Been there? Yes. I lived there for two years. Am part of a clan? No. I can't be." She looked down into her coffee for a long moment, then cleared her throat and continued. "I stayed with one, lived in one for that time. It's.. not something most people can or would want to do."

"Goodness..." Brandy uttered, stirring his own drink as a silence went over the table for a moment or two. Obviously that was a tender subject for the dominantly Selkie girl. The Wastes certainly seemed... special to her in a way that Brandy would never understand.
"Well..." He started back up, finishing the last of his coffee and pushing the cup aside. "It seems like you have had some very interesting adventures so far. Where are you off to after the Gardens?" Yes, a change of subject would be good. He'd love to ask more questions about her delightfully strange life in the Hisstor, but it seemed to be quite the tender subject. No, he didn't want to get people down in the dumps and thinking about the things in life that disappointed them. Nothing would ruin and otherwise good shopping experience than that.

Penelope pulled herself out of her moment of melancholy to give Brandy a reassuring smile. She wasn't a mopey person, generally speaking, and she tried to give off the image of being happy, even if it wasn't true all the time. "It's weird, I know." She shrugged.
"After the Gardens?" The mix paused. She hadn't thought that far ahead, actually; she'd just gotten there, after all. "I haven't decided yet. The Villa, perhaps? Maybe Avington. I'm going for the lighter, easier realms after the past few I've been to." Nelo smiled and shrugged again. "I've been to most of them already, so I'll just be revisiting old, favorite haunts." Villa had a wonderful little village that her father had taken her to as a child, but Avington had beautiful people she liked to people-watch.

Did the girl not even know? Surely, she must be the truest form of traveller if she came up with her next destination just on the fly. How glorious a life it must be, to be able to make decisions for oneself and to travel the world. Still.. would one get lost without some sort of guidance in their life? Everything Brandy did was dictated by his pimp; in fact, he hadn't made a decision for himself most of his life purely because he had no choice. Even though he was well taken care of, he was a second class citizen and could very well be considered property.
Well, it could be worse. He could just be dead.
"Ohhh, Avingtons. They are so -exotic-." Brandy exclaimed, giving a delighted shiver. "Tell me, are they as mysterious as they are rumored to be? Those colors are just so.. so -different- from what is normally seen around here!"
