Ashta slowed down her sprint as she came to the Czar's Study, smoothing her fur before giving a knock on the door. To her surprise, it swung open. Of course, she immediately berated herself; it had most likely been her leaving to go out into the clover fields who hadn't shut the door properly. Quickly, she gave an aggressive clearing of her throat, which ended up sounding soft and wistful despite herself.. It was hard to get a loud, rough tone with her singing voice. "Czar? I'm terribly sorry to barge in... I must not have shut the door properly, you see.." She stammered out her apology, slinking into the doorway with her body low to the ground. "... I am in need of your council, you see.. I have news that I hope you will approve of." Her ears perked forward imploringly, though she went no further inside the room until she was given permission. Her new Jack had been most accommodating, but with how random and unpredictable her former Jack had been, she had learned to always be wary of angering them.

Sometimes, despite the great love that he had for the women of his Warren, Vikenti preferred to spend his time with his books, reading all he could on Card society. The Warren was growing quite quickly now and had a set of very unique needs, and now that there were more Leverets living here he wasn't required to leave nearly as often. Instead, he chose to dress Heike up and send him into the very middle of Card society to gather everything the Warren might need. With two lovely young Leverets in the Warren, things were getting done promply and without any sort of issue. It was an interesting experiment, to say the least, and the man grinned to himself. This was the fullest that his home had been in a long time, and things were going quite smoothly. At the sound of footsteps, he quickly smoothed his grin over, lifting his eyes to the entryway as Ashta stepped in. He hadn't even noticed that the door was open, but he greeted her with a small nod of his head. " It is not a problem, dear one.[/b]" he said in his usual tone, dismissing the opened door. No one had barged in on him, and so it wasn't a problem. His ears twitched at her words, the motion invisible thanks to the heavy bangles that he wore, leaning forward slightly with interest. " What is it?[/b]" he asked, curiosity building by the second. Ashta was a strange one, and he had to wonder what it was that she'd decided needed to be brought to his attention.

Considerably heartened by not being yelled at right off the bat, her timid expression transformed into that of a pleasant smile. He was not in the most sweet of moods, but rather one that she was learning was quite the normal state; contemplative, brooding.. maybe even a bit short-tempered. At least he was somewhat predictable, and she'd be very thankful for that.
Oh, but she had piqued his interest! It was the faintest of hints in his voice as he looked at her with a bit more curiosity than before. With a grin, Astha buzzed excitedly with a tooth grinding purr, allowing the tension to go just half a pace longer before replying. "Well, while I was enjoying the blossoms of the clover fields, I ran across a most interesting little glacier leveret... A bit of a rogue, you see. In this heat though, she can hardly go gallivanting about in the daytime, so I offered her hospice within the warren. Though I do not wish to complain, dearest Czar, we honestly good do with the extra help around here. She's a most amusing one, she is."

As the Doe spoke, Vikenti leaned forward in his chair, golden eyes widened in a slight expression of interest. A Leveret? Outside of the Warren? It seemed good fortune that his Ashta had been out today, then... Any anger that he might have felt at her sneaking about without his knowledge faded rather quickly. As it was, the Warren could use the extra paws and he wasn't about to turn another set of them away.
"We could indeed use the extra help,[/b]" the man echoed, one finger lightly stroking at the thick fur that grew on his chin. If his ears weren't as heavily weighted as they were, they would have likely stood up straight as a clear marker of his interest. "I once had a Glacier Doe. She was a hard worker as long as you didn't get on her bad side. Her room is in the lower chambers of the Warren - this Leveret could live there, should she be interested in staying on as a worker.[/b]" There was no question in the Jack's mind as to the Leveret's gender. He would not be taking on another male, Heike was more than enough trouble.
Golden eyes flicked up to Ashta once more and the Jack gave her a nod. "Show her in. I would like to talk to her before I make any decisions.[/b]"

She hadn't missed that moment where his eyes darkened at his hearing of her wanderings, and her entire body trembled violently, looking up at the Jack with wide, almost pleading eyes. If she'd done anything to displease him, she didn't know what she would do. His disapproval lasted only a moment. She had pleased her Jack?
Then he mentioned a Doe from his past. Dark, sick hatred rose up like bile within in her, sloshing uneasily like a tacky tar in her soul. On her bad side, eh? Well that Doe didn't know about -her- bad side. No Solandrian Doe had anything compared to herself. If she'd been here when Ashta came around... she would have learned her place quickly. If not... well, she wouldn't dote on such things. But there was something important to remember. This new leveret was just that; a leveret. A worker... an unattractive, hairy beast of burden that her beloved Czar would never look upon. Not while Ashta monopolized his time. To cover the shadow within her own heart, Ashta was smiling most pleasantly in the manner that she usually did, with her gaze distant in a way often misconstrued with air headedness. It was probably a good thing that others could not hear the dark murmurings within her mind.
"Oh, the lower chambers! The Czar is so wise. Obviously a Solandrian would need to be kept in the cooler parts of the earth." Even though such a thing would be common sense, Ashta sang praise of Czar's intelligence whenever possible, even at the most mundane of things.
Oh yes, I'll go get her promptly. She stunk horribly so I made sure she was clean before you were to see her. There were many plugs in that comment. First off, mentioning how the creature certainly didn't naturally smell of roses, and she was intentionally vague about exactly how the leveret had gotten clean.... but with how she loved to chase the leverets about with bows and clips it wasn't hard to deduce she had something to do with it. before the Czar could get too angry with her though, she slipped quickly away from him, chittering most pleasantly about how she was absolutely sure he would approve of her find.
((lol, evil Ashta XD))

Why was she waiting? She could have simply slipped out and disappeared into the afternoon just then and not bothered with this whole Warren thing quite yet. But ... wait... it was still afternoon wasn't it? That bath did nothing but get the dirt and burrs from her coat and make it a little fluffier then it normally was as well, which certainly wouldn't keep her cooler then she had been before. Oy, it was one of the few times she wished she was in the glacier still ... but she had her reasons to be rid of that place. So there she was, laying on her belly with all her limbs spread out and her head on the floor .... waiting. Her expression was far from amused but she was doing what she had to do, not what she wanted to do. She stared at the door, knowing that any moment the crazy doe would be back for her and that she'd probably be meeting this .... Czar.

It was not long before Ashta came back into view, looking out of breath with an expression on her face that could have easily been read as fear as it could have been construed as delight. She stopped short of the leveret and made a quick motion to preen the fur on her chest, she smiled brightly at the leveret.
"The Czar is feeling -most- generous today, but do be careful in his presence! He requires the utmost respect. The Czar does not tolerate insubordination." It was her tone that warranted caution, and the look in her eye, for those warnings were not haughty; they were words of wisdom from a Doe who very much put nothing past the Czar. With nervous paws, she swept any dust off the leveret's fur that she might have accumulated on the floor.
"Well.. there you go, then! He's just in that door. Be sure to knock and request permission to enter, and by all that is good in this world, don't show any disrespect!" She made a soft squeak in her throat, fanning herself as if she were under great stress. "Go on then! Don't keep him waiting, and good luck!"
