It might have been easier to buy pre-made rice flour.
I've been using a coffee grinder to turn rice into flour All. Day. XD
But the Mochi... it will be miiiine.

Whyyyyyy would you even try to make your own rice flour?
On the other hand, that will most likely result in some undoubtedly delicious and seriously made-from-scratch mochi. Possible also a burned out coffee grinder motor. But worth it!

Well I had a surplus of rice in the house, and a particular deficit in rice flour XD
And I was feeling antsy and wanted to do some manual labor.
This is all after beating the shit out of some dough to make pulled noodles. It... didn't work. I had to roll it out flat and cut my noodles with a pizza cutter.

Oh man... I bought my bf a spice grinder ($30 or so at Williams-Sonoma) and it's pretty much our all-purpose-grind-anything-and-everything. We haven't bothered to buy a coffee grinder, because, well, it grinds that too. I mean... it's ground up some stuff like you wouldn't believe, and just keeps on chugging.
That being said, I applaud your creative use of coffee grinders.
And also - I want you to mail me mochi when you are done. XD

It's a dessert made out of rice flour and sugar, often with a type of filling on the inside. It's kind of chewy.

Mochi was a big fail. I wasn't able to grind the flour down enough and it ended up gritty and then turned into a rock. And then it burned my hand as it took it out of the microwave. It hurt so bad that I couldn't finish rolling out my Gyoza wrappers. Tonight's dinner is a huge bust. We're ordering out.

Thanks. I'm pretty heartbroken it didn't turn out how I wanted it all to. So 'A's for effort' is at least something.
