[[ Just throwing this up for Kaden and Hatter before I forget <3 ]] He moved through the streets quickly, pretty glass talons making tinking noises against the cobblestones as he did. His tail was curled up and away from the ground and he had a devious little grin on his face. He was out for fun today, mindless fun at that. He slid to a stop, silver eyes looking first left then right before an ear twitched, hearing the tell tale squeak of the rat he was chasing. He turned and started to stalk toward where that stupid little vermin must have been hiding, toes stretched oddly so his claws wouldn't touch the ground for maximum silence. Closer, closer ... if he could just get those last couple of feet without the terrified little creature noticing him then.... damnit! He jumped ever so slightly and growled when the thing let out a horrified squeak and took off again, Weasel-Rat in hot pursuit and claws clinking all the while.

Kaden and Quicksand, the inseparable duo of chaos, darted down through the dirty back alleys in an attempt to ditch their latest trouble. A heist gone just a little wrong had a cop hot on their tail feathers for a good deal of their run. It would have been so much easier if he could just walk through those effing mirrors!!! Instead he kept whacking his head on the glass every time desperation led him to such silly thoughts. Now, however, was not time to think about that. "Sorry Quick!" Grabbing Quicksand with his main wing set, the mutt bird scrambled up a pile of crates, gaining leverage to a low roof while the sound of thundering paws and claws tormented him. There was a pause in the pursuing noises, meaning they had probably come to the stack of crates he'd just used to jump out of the way, and he had to act quick to lose them for good. Crap, crap, crap. There was nothing else to do. The aura of confidence his wings exuded was already engulfing him and Kaden didn't think twice about what to do as the edge of the rooftop came rushing toward him. His secondary wings flashed open, straining against the joints of his primary wings in the most horrendously uncomfortable way, and he took a running leap from the low-building. The smaller set of wings caught the wing, let him glide even though it wouldn't let him fly, but the ground still rushed up far faster than he would've preferred. He held fast to Quicksand who, luckily, was smart enough to not struggle wildly and hit the ground with a running -thud-. Luckily nothing snapped. Unluckily, the 'thud' came from colliding with a furry semi-familiar brown form. "Oh hey!" The heron had toppled backwards onto his tail feathers and let his little beast go. "Fancy running into you here! 'S been a while Mo!" As Kaden was speaking he was climbing back to his feet, Quicksand sneezing urgency at him. His bright mischievous eyes danced to Mo's chest, eyeing the rank as he debated his options. Mo was a Queen, the guard chasing him wasn't. Hopefully the guy wouldn't try climbing onto a roof to catch a crazy bird... if he did though, maybe Mo would help Kaden cause they were friends. Hopefully Mo wasn't better friends with the Guard.

He was damned and determined to catch the scruffy little vermin he'd happened across earlier, taking some sadistic pleasure in the thought that it was a rat and how offensive to his crankier parental unit that would be if he showed up on his son's doorstep today. However, there was a sudden commotion that was entirely distracting for just enough time for the little vermin to slip down into the sewers. Well, damn ... there went his fun. But .... what the hell was going on? It was generally pretty quiet around here... unless someone blew something up... or a client was especially displeased with what their 'doctor' had done to them.
He ceased all movements except for picking his head up and perked his ears completely forward to get a better listen in as it seemed to be ... getting closer? And then... it ceased for a moment, only the sound of claws scraping against a roof coming ot his ears now .... which could just be some escapee animal on the loose trying to get away .... he'd seen some rather bizarre creatures running loose her on more then one occasion. Apparently experiments escaped, but this wasn't the case at all today.
He noticed the mostly black shape heading toward him and paused for a moment, his escape attempt coming too late to keep a ball of multi-colored feathers and sneezing bander from falling atop him. A high pitched noise of alarm escaped his throat, rather embarrassing really, as flopped over against the ground and rolled a little. When he managed to keep himself from rolling any more every hair on his body stood on end as he pointed a death glare at the person who dared so such a thing to him. But ... he knew those markings, and that voice, though matured, was familiar as well, and it brought him out of his little fit. Oh yes, he knew exactly who this was... and the Bander was proof!
Kaden! What the hell are you doing jumping off of roofs?

Kaden quickly extracted himself from the accidental pile he'd gotten in, shook off his feathers and then flashed the weasel a grin of pure charm. Or, well, what he considered pure charm. The Diamond in front of him would undeniably still seem the same old mischievous grin that Kaden had presented to those around him when they were children.
The sort of grin you saw seconds before he hit you in the face with a water balloon or an egg.
"Well! It would seem this guard guy got the wrong impression about what I was doin' and then he decided to chase me. Its an awful misunderstanding, really... but the roof seemed the quickest way out of that dead end on the other side and..." He twisted his head so that he could see the second pair of powerful, confidence-secreting wings. "And flying is sorta out.
Sorry about crashing into you like that, though. Di~dn't expect anyone to be on the other side." Quicksand snorted his agreement.

Agitation over being collided with faded away as recognition replaced it, aha! He knew this little ball of feathers ... they'd made some mischief together when they were little. And, if his story and grin had any say in it, it seemed as if the boy was still getting into all sorts of trouble. That sounded splendid, and far better then chasing rats was.
Well, at least it was me you ran into, and not some crazy scientist with a bad temper and an interest in feathers.
He flashed his own mischievous grin before he began dusting himself off casually, rolling a thought around in his mind for a little bit.
A guard you say? Well, I live not far from here if you're interested in getting off the streets for a bit, perhaps we could catch up a bit, yes?
His tail started to curl up into it's happy shape at the thought, it had been awhile since he had a visitor.

"Haha!" Kaden let out a cheerful bark of laughter. "A scientist catching me? Never!" He fluffed up, his double set of wings flaring a little as he made himself up nice and big. "I've lived in Corvie too long to be caught off my guard that easily." He also had that lucky ability to disorient people, which made it hard for them to catch him. Heee.
He grinned back at Mo, eyes shining at the invitation. "Yeah, yeah! A place off the street would be swell! Think they got a freakin' hound dog on me." He glanced back the way he came. "But I think going over the rooftop will make things a bit harder on them... Regardless, bein' on the move is always good and catchin' up is just as great." The bird took a cheerful stride forward, glancing over his shoulder to be sure Mo was ready to depart the little alley.

You'll be safe in my place, they've learned very well not to ask any questions. Between himself and his parents his place of living was pretty quiet. It wasn't exactly a wise practice to go and make enemies of aggressive, talented, high ranking neighbors that would take every minute of torturing you as a family bonding experience. There were generally children around now as well ... which made it that much more dangerous to go poking your nose in places it didn't belong. He brought Kaden past an old, dilapidated fountain and then to a quaint looking little place toward the outskirts of Corvistowne. He liked the privacy of this region but at the same time he enjoyed shorter trips to the Capitol and, of course, the Court of Spades. Before opening the door for his guest he shifted up to his bipedal form, he'd adjusted the door so nothing below such a form could get in easily ... for the most part, and then stepped aside and aloud his guest in first. His decor was quite .... Torquehelm themed, although it was primarily purple with black, silver and white accents, and it was surprisingly organized. He liked his decor... and he really didn't give a snot if anyone else did. Welcome to my humble abode. Grinning he shut the door behind his friend and gestured him to the kitchen/dining area as the little clicking of claws shifted his attention elsewhere. His grin almost doubled as he spotted who it was and he turned his attention back to his feathery guest. Kaden, I'd like you to meet my son, Fregoli. curious as to who was here with his father, the little rattling had snuck out of his room, setting his studies aside, in favor of investigating. He blinked his little purple eyes a few times at the colorful, multi-winged avian in the kitchen before dipping his head and twitching his tail. H-hello. Yes, he was still a little shy and he did look up at his father once more before smiling softly at the stranger.... friend? His father sure had weird looking friends.

Kaden arched a brow briefly at the comment but simply shrugged in the end and followed along. He eyed the scenery with detail, intrigued by the strange local the man had chosen for his home. The interior was equally intriguing, but Kaden would be the first to admit he had no 'designer' sense to complain or admire it. Though, there was a pleasant familiarity in that the theme reminded him a great deal of his mother.
Also not the best conversation starter.
Thankfully, Kaden did not have to start the conversation. A small Torquehelm rat popped his head into the room and then shuffled in after his father (or mother?) and was introduced as Fregoli. Kaden subdued the snickering urge to announce that Fregoli sounded like some sort of pasta dinner and instead offered a bright, friendly grin. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Fregoli."
From between his talons, Quicksand eyed the new person and sneezed a warning that may have also been a challenge. Kaden absently corrected the bander with a nudge of his foot and it quickly returned to discreetly sniffing at the surroundings.
