The chipmunk stretched out his limbs, all eight of them, before curling his spider legs up on his sides and exiting his quarters. It was time for a break and some exercise ... he couldn't stand being cooped up all day, not after a life time of being a super active individual. Maybe later tonight he could go out and train with his spear some more? He was really starting to get the hand of it now that he had the extra limbs to work with, without using his Heart ability of course. Cheerfully he made his way through the halls, little banded brush of a tail up and curled ever so slightly. And then he paused briefly, little ears perking forward. Hum, that sounded an awful lot like pawsteps. He swiveled his ears to focus better, honing in on some skills he hadn't used in awhile, to try and figure out whom it might be before they came into view. They were light, but they also sounded the slightest bit clumsy... so that had to be one of the many children that were running around the halls these days. But which one? Olive eyes fixed themselves on the end of the hall as he waited to see if he was right ... and if he was .... who happens to be slinking around by themselves today. [[ Thought I'd get this thrown up for your little girlie <3 ]]

Far from slinking, Laika pranced through the halls of the palace, trotting upstairs from the gardens and feeling especially proud of herself that day. She had caught one of the little lizardy skinky thingies that the gardeners complained ate the flowers sometimes. The thing was nearly as long as her leg with the tail and dangled limply from her mouth, its dead body looking chewed and quite broken. She'd left her brother in the garden so that she could go and show somebody, but who knew if he would follow after her or not? He probably would. He usually did. Ark was good like that. A spring in her step, she turned the corner and then stopped abruptly. Which, for a puppy, meant that her ass hadn't stopped at the same rate and pushed her forward onto her face. She yipped and spat out the lizard body that had nearly gone up her nose. Eww. Licking her lips for a few seconds unhappily, she stared down at the corpse and then back up at the many-legged body standing in front of her. Had she met him before? She might have seen him, but she didn't think she'd met him. She would have remembered all those legs. They made her stare for a minute until she realized she was being rude in not saying hello. Mom wouldn't like that if he told. "Um, hello. I'm Laika. Look what I caught!"

Or ... parading the halls with a fresh kill firmly grasped in her maw instead of slinking. Hum, the realm was definitely one that stood out to him but... oh! This must be one of Her Majesty Heilyn's newest batch, he hadn't really gotten a good look at any of them yet. And, my.... wasn't she ever just the cutest little child? She reminded him of the days back in the marsh when he and his siblings would catch all sorts of critters. Well, they caught them with sharpened sticks instead of their own muzzles but hey, it was similar.
He grinned as he watched the little canine for a moment, fangs poking into view when he did, and waited for her to talk first. He was curious, oh so curious.
Well hello Laika, I'm Jarvis. Did you really catch that all by yourself? It's quite an impressive little bugger.

"Hi Mr. Jarvis! I did! All by myself! I didn't get my brother's help or anything! It almost got away though. But it didn't!"
Laika's tail wagged a mile a minute and she grinned up at the guard, who really was creepy, wasn't he? He looked so weird with all those legs and the giiiiiant teeth! Weird in a cool way, though. He could probably use all those legs in a fight, couldn't he? Or he could stand and kick at the same time? Stand, kick, and bite?
"You're a fighting machine, aren't you?" she blurted out, excitement in every line of her young body. "Like in some of those Corvie shows they put on in the Capital, only with your body instead! Can you run really fast with those? Or climb walls? I bet you could catch a lot of lizards if you could climb walls. The gardeners probably wouldn't like it much, though. There are lots of vines on some of the walls."

Children were so fun to listen to, so excited over the small things in life. Oh if only everyone stayed that way ... he was pretty sure people would be so much happier that way. Then again, the world would be rather boring, wouldn't it? Happy but boring ... he could live with that actually. It wasn't as if he had the most interesting life anyhow. Hum, that was certainly something to ponder, wasn't it?
Her next question caught him off guard and he blinked a few times in surprise before peering at his own extra limbs, pondering. He'd never actually thought about that really. He knew they were strange, and useful, but he'd never really thought about... fighting and the likes. He was actually a fairly peaceful man and liked to try and sort things out with words and logic rather then violence.
I suppose I could be ... I can lift myself up, climb up the walls a bit and such ... but fighting isn't really something I think about often.
He twitched his banded little tail for a moment, trying to figure out a way to explain what he wanted to say without an in depth, boring speech.
I keep it as an Ace up my sleeve if you will, if logic fails the .... bad guy.
Was that good enough? He wasn't sure... he'd have to see by her reaction if she really understood or not.

Laika's "awwww" face was almost, but not quite, audible. If she had awesome creeptastic legs like that then she would have to train to be a fighting machine. Up in the mountains in the Mid-Range where some of those dramas took place, the ones where you ate flies and prune juice and hit your head on boards and stuff. Eww. Hee.
One might have argued that she watched too many performances when she went to the Capital.
His next statement made her tilt her head in thought, ears flopping a little. Hmm. "So kind of like something extra to throw at them if they're stupid, right? Like a sidekick inside of you. In case they're not smart enough to figure out that you might be some sort of scary, whirling machine of death with all those legs and teeth and stuff. Cool! Bet you fight stupid people all the time. They'd have to be pretty dumb to do something in the Court."
